Miami @ Tennessee

Hurricanes Earn Another!

Miami earns their 3rd win of the season but at a cost!

Knoxville, TN
- For the third straight week Miami was on the road. This time against the Tennessee Volunteers. The volunteers were the clear favorite to win this game but the hurricanes proved many wrong once again. They came out and established themself as the better team on the field. [38-28]

It was a gloomy afternoon in Tennessee with a light rain shower pouring on the field. Both teams were ready to go at it with one another. Tennessee start off the game with the ball and you could hear the crowd roaring for their team to win. On offensive Tyler Bray had a decent game completing 15 for 28 pass for 217 yards and 1 TD with 2 Ints to go along with it. Even their running game struggle as SR Taurean Poole had 14 carries for 33 yard before being knocked out of the game by Miami's Senior LB Sean Spence.

The hurricanes offensive got better this game as Jacory Harris was able to eclipse a hundred yard passing his first for the season. He completed 9 for 18 passes for 180 yards with 1 TD and 1 Int to boot. Things went from good to bad in a blink of an eye...as the nation leading rusher Lamar Miller went down with a broken elbow early in the first half of the game and the team doctors have stated that he will miss the remained of the season which could hurt Miami down the road.

Miller finished the game with 7 carries for 34 yards. Mike James stepped in for Miller and took off he carried the ball 26 times for 135 yards and 2 TDs on the day. James and Hall will most likely splitting the carries for the season.

Tennessee start off badly to begin the game they could get anything going on their first drive and on their second drive things got even worse as Bray threw a pick-6 to even further Miami lead early in the game [10-0]. It wasn't until late in the first qtr when Tennessee finally scored thanks in part to Poole 3yd run. [10-7]

The second qtr was a defensive struggle for both teams. Tennessee was living in the canes' backfield racking up 6 sacks on Harris through the game. Both teams were in deadlock with each other until Tennessee finally broke the ice to take the lead going into the 3rd Qtr. [10-14]

Jacory was pressure all night getting sacked 6 times!

The Hurricanes controlled the 3rd Quarter, as their defense didn't let Tennessee score at all. Harris made some key plays that pushed Miami down the field. This must have been a wake up call for Jacory after leaving last weeks game with a concussion. Miami found the endzone twice thanks to the running of Darian Hall & Mike James who both score a touchdown each to put Miami up by 10 points [24-14]. The fourth Quarter was filled with fireworks Tennessee struck gold first on a short goaline run after an amazing drive down the field by Bray and his receivers. [24-21] That didn't sit well with Miami as they came out and posted back to back score on Tennessee. One being a 71 bomb down field to SR receiver Travis Benjamin and the other was a nice run up the gut by Mike James. [38-21] It didn't stop the Volunteers one bit, as Bray found what he was looking for and that was Freshman Receiver Vincent Dallas for a touchdown. [38-28] The Volunteers did recover the onside kick after scoring but it was Miami's defense that didn't let them score again.

Offensive Player of the game
Mike James HB (SR)
26 Car, 135 Yds, 2 TD

Defensive Player of the game
Willie Bohannon LE (JR)
3 Tkls, 3 TFL, 3 Sks, ATK

Game Notes
The Annual Rivalry between Ohio State and Miami is always a good one! Last Year Miami lost here in the shoe but looks to turn around the misfortune that was dealt to try and come out with a win here today. Both Teams have lost key players to injuries. So this should be an interesting match up to say the least. Miami offense needs to step up and be more consistence in the passing game here tonight. Ohio State lost to playmaker to injury so that will hurt them quite a bit.....

Kirk - Ohio State Should Win this hands down. They have an explosive offense and a shut down defense!

Re: Miami Hurricanes: Decades of Dominance

Overpowering!

Columbus, OH -
The Annual Rivalry between Miami @ Ohio State continued today. In which it was a somewhat one sided ball game. Last Year Ohio State dominated Miami but this year it was reversed. Miami put a smacking on Ohio State [27-10]

It was a great afternoon in the shoe. The crowd filled in with swarms of buckeyes fans. This looked like it was gonna be a touch game for the hurricanes to win. Miami started out on offense and couldn't ask for anything else from KR/WR Travis Benjamin who was able to bring the ball to the 50 yard line.

This had to be one of the best outings for Jacory Harris on the year. He completed 12 out of 21 passes for 197 yards and 1 TD. It had many people surprise on how he stepped up and took control of the offensive. The running game moved so smoothly without Sophomore RB Lamar Miller. Mike James & Darion Hall split the carries between each other and did pretty well carrying the ball 28 times for 119Yds. On defense Miami was in shut down mode picking off the ball 3 times and returning them twice.

Ohio State offense was decent at best...SR QB Joe Bauserman completed 13 out of 23 passes for 162 Yds and no int to go along with 3 picks on the night. Bauserman completed the running game carrying the ball 7 times for 51 Yds.

Jaamal Berry carried the load for the buckeyes carrying the ball 25 times for 115 Yds. With no herron or Posey Ohio state stalled on offense most of the nights. The defense played decent only recording 3 sacks on the night. It was just a sad to see such a great program such as Ohio State

This game started out like any other great game should and that with a defensive battle. No teams could get anything going offensively until Ohio state was able to get into the endzone on a QB scramble thanks to Joe Bauserman. [0-7]

It wasn't until the second qtr when Miami found their groove. The passing game finally came together as jacory was moving the ball down the field but settled with a field goal [3-7]. The buckeyes have answered right back with a field goal of their own [3-10]. The hurricanes offense buckled down and moved the ball effectively with both its rushing and passing. Harris connected with TE Ford on a short touchdown to tie up the game. [10-10]

The hurricanes defense held their own the entire second half not allowing a single point. Miami defense picked off the ball two time during the 3rd quarter and returned both of them for pick 6's. [24-10]

It was basically over once the fourth qtr began. The only score came from a field goal. which sealed the game for Miami. [27-10] The Buckeyes tried to quickly come back but the canes was to much for ohio state as they grabbed their 3rd int of the game to close it it.

Next Week: Bye
