NCAA Announces FCS-FBS showdown for spots in FBS

The NCAA has announced that the limit for teams is 120, and the FCS-FBS showdown. Here's how things would work.

The teams would play eachother (Matchups shown above). Whoever loses, gets demoted to the FCS. Whoever wins, gets to be in the Football Bowl Subdivison.

"We checked out the 4 teams with the most consistent losing years and put them against some of the most prestigious FCS teams. What we get, is a competition." said the NCAA.

"We love it." said Georgia Southern QB Jaybo Shaw. "We want to earn our way, not just be given our way."

The FBS teams seem to agree with it. Not really.

New Mexico State has been outraged, but as the NCAA points out, going 0-12 won't cut it. Sorry guys.

Here are the times and stadiums for the matchups:

New Mexico State vs Texas State
August 20, 2011 at 7:00 PM (Alamo Dome)

San Jose State vs James Madison
August 19th, 2011 at 7:00 PM (Lucas Oil Stadium)

Eastern Michigan vs Villanova
August 20, 2011 at 5:00 PM (Panthers Stadium)

Western Kentuckyvs Georgia Southern
August 19, 2011 at 5:00 PM (Georgia Dome)

Idaho announces move to FCS, replaced by Montana

The Idaho Vandels have announced their departure from the FBS to the FCS, leaving Montana to join the FBS this football season.

The Grizzles have announced this move, and have also announced the hiring of new Head Coach Willie Lewis, who has had very little college experience.

The Grizzles will play in the Mountain West Conference (MWC).
