Presentation is top notch. Quick question, curious to as why you left Christian Thomas as a DE.
I've heard multiple different things about him. My theory is he fits better at DE unless injury forces him back to TE. If they felt they were 3 deep at tight end next year they whouldn't have felt the need to get Cope-Fitzpatrick in next years class. I think they really think he's a better DE
Minnesota finished 3-9, 1-4 against top 25 team in 2010. They will travel to Los Angeles in their opener in the 2nd year of a home and away series.
Last year's game was close until then freshmen Robert Woods took a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown that gave USC the lead 19 to 14. Until that point Minnesota had the lead on USC on a TD pass From Adam Weber to Da'Jon Mcknight. Adams Weber outplayed Matt Barkley, but they were not able to contain USC's ground game lead by Allen Bradford's 131 yards performance.
Although Minnesota return many key players, they are without their QB Adams Weber. The key of this game will be Soph QB MarQueis Gray and how he responds as a 1st game starter.
Los Angeles (AP) - Trojans opened the 2011 college football season last night against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Kickoff was at 12:30 PM and that was about the close as the Gophers got. Trojans in a dominated defensive performance nearly had a shut out giving up Minnesota's only touchdown when the game was out of reach.
Trojans quickly began their scoring on their 1st drive, highlighted by a screen pass to Robert Woods that converted a 3rd and 12 into Gopher territory. D.J. Morgan would score his 1st career TD.
Nickell Robey (left) and Marshall Jones (right) with a pair of interception on QB MarQueis
Trojans would take possession back from the Gophers when Minnesota QB MarQueis Gray threw an interception towards the middle of the field to Marshall Jones. The pass was intended for Da'Jon McKnight. Trojans would not be able to capitalize on that turnover, but when that got possession back on the next drive, Curtis McNeal took his 1st handoff of the season for 72 yards to the house.
USC defense celebrate on a great defensive play
Gophers would try to fight back and Gray threw a perfect 61 yards strike to Da'Jon McKnight with a big play of their own. The Golden Gophers would get as close as 2 yard line when RB Duane Bennett scored on a 2 TD run, but not so fast my friend as Lee Corso would say it. The TD was called back on a holding call. On the following play T.J. McDonald would pick off Gray on another pass intended for Da'Jon McKnight in the end zone. McDonald took the interception 101 yards the other way for the TD. The 101 yards interception return is an USC record.
"I saw the QB's eyes and just jumped the route. I just ran as fast as I can to the endzone. I almost got caught by their quarterback, that would have been bad." - T.J. McDonald
Trojans' defense just dominated the 1st half, with 4 sacks on MarQueis Gray and knocking him out of the game with an elbow injury. Armond Armstead, Nick Perry, Devon Kennard, George Uko, and Christian Tupou combined for 6 sacks for the Trojans. The run game didn't do better for Minnesota gaining only 22 yards.
Minnesota quarterbacks were under pressure all day long by USC's defensive line
The second half saw a balance offense for USC, Baxter would rack up most of his 55 yards rushing on 9 carries in the half. Robert Woods went to work and racked up the yards after catch from Barkley. Each scored a TD in the half. USC's passing game struggled at times, it seemed like the timing was off between Barkley and his receivers.
The Golden Gophers would score a TD on a 15 yards pass from QB Tom Parish to Victor Keise to prevent the shutout.
Someone forgot to tell Gopher WR Victor Keise what the score was
The ending numbers shows complete dominance from the Trojans. Minnesota gains only 165 yards on offense and only converting for four 1st down the whole entire game. 2-12 3rd down conversion rate is just not going to cut it and committing turnover on top of that is a killer.
USC now will face Utah in the PAC-12 opener next week at home, stay tune for the game preview.
love the highlights, I was thinking of doing something similar but didn't. Glad to see Moody have some success, do you plan on giving him more carries after his performance?

Ill see Def missed Tyler in that game. Struggled with the run game but he was the bright spot
