Carolina Cruisers

2011 Carolina Cruisers Mid-Season Recruiting Update

At the halfway point of the season Carolina has four commits (we'll talk about the new commit in a moment) and many prospects highly interested in coming to the beach. "The campus location has been a big draw for potential student-athletes," state coach Matty Nokes. "Match that with our high stress for academics and I think we can draw in a wide variety of prospects that some other schools can't cater to."

With the Cruisers screwball schedule (six straight home games, then four road games to finish out the season) it pits most prospects scrambling to set up their official visit. "It's surely nice to be at home for as many games in a row as we have," exclaimed Nokes. "However, it comes with some drawbacks and those drawbacks are it presses recruits to visit much earlier in the season." Carolina host the Tar Heels this Saturday and then final contest at D.G. Yuengling Field is against Florida Atlantic in two weeks.

** TE Tyrone Rose (Juco Jr) - Committed
Oak Grove, SC
6-5 227

Rose is an under the radar find by Carolina. He is decently athletic and can be counted on to make the reception. He is also a solid blocker in the run game and should make a nice compliment to Cunningham.

*** OT Jeremy Terry
Clearwater, SC
6-5 295

Terry is rated the #47 Tackle prospect by Rivals. His forte is pass blocking, which he does very well, but he's extremely lost in the run game. As of right now Carolina sits as lone team to offer Terry and he'll visit next week vs Florida Atlantic.

*** OG Terry Cook
Spartansburg, SC
6-4 300

Cook is another guy to grace Rivals Top 50 and has a visit vs Florida Atlantic as well. Cook has a very balanced skill set and could see action as a true freshman (if he commits with Carolina).

*** CB Danny Childress
Spartansburg, SC
5-11 175

Childress is visiting this week in what could be a make-or-break visit for the Cruisers. Both Carolina and UNC are fighting for Childress' commitment. He's very adept in coverage and would surely see a lot of action at either school in 2012.

*** OG Gary Roberts
Pineville, LA
6-5 325

The Cruisers are also in a dog fight with Michigan State for Roberts' services. Good thing for Carolina is that both academics and campus life are among Roberts' highest values for choosing a college. Like Cook, he too, could wind up seeing action as a true freshman. He'll visit this week against North Carolina.

Cruisers Grind Out A Victory In The Rain

Darius Williams takes advantage of a rare carry and goes 12 yards for the score.

Nick Nicholson is left all alone on an all-out blitz as he races for the long touchdown reception.

Cooper Tillman reels in a big, then go-ahead, touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter.

Connor Tillman ends the game in style, fighting through two blockers to record his third sack of the game.

Nice win against North Carolina, I'm gonna guess they're your rival?

Re: Carolina Cruisers Dynasty - NCAA '12

hockeyplaya2724: We haven't really decided on who's our rival. Right now it's set to always play Duke, but there's a lot of other Carolina teams (Clemson, ECU, Wake, S. Car, etc...) so it's possible in the future we may lock in another team as our rival. But right now either UNC or Duke look like good matchups for a rivalry game.

Carolina Cruisers

2011 Carolina Cruisers Recruiting Update

Just as soon as they were discussed recruits Gary Roberts and Danny Childress have committed to our Carolina blue. Both are Rivals Top 25 at their respective positions and both should see a quality amount of playing time in 2012. Our sources have also informed us that three other prospects are leaning towards the Cruisers. Here's a look at their profiles...

*** OT Sean Elliott
Covington, GA
6-6 280

Georgia also has an offer out for this recruit, but his interest is much greater in Carolina. Elliott brings a balanced approach to the line and could play on either the left or right side. If he commits with the Cruisers he'd probably compete with Rick Dundee for the Right Tackle spot.

*** OLB Sean Ward
Cambridge, OH
6-5 225

The Cruisers are drooling at the thought of finding a new coverage Linebacker, but will he choose Carolina or West Virginia? WVU is a very close second, but good for Carolina is that academics is a high priority for Ward. This pickup could mean Junior Washington would only have to focus on lead blocking in '12.

**** SS Greg Jefferson
Kingston, TN
6-2 205

Jefferson has caught the attention of Carolina and Arkansas. Most other schools are disinterested because he's not a burner, but he's a well-rounded player who could also play Linebacker if needed. He's exceptional in coverage and can lay the lumber on ball carriers.

Carolina Holds On To Keep FAU Winless

Thomas Hughes lays a big hit for one of his two sacks.

Gavin Todd runs the option keeper in for a 33 yard score.

The all-out blitz doesn't rattle Gavin Todd as he finds Nick Nicholson for the go-ahead score.
