Eagles Fly Once Again - BC Dynasty (NCAA 12)

What's happening guys? Figured I'd pick up NCAA 12 (got it for $15 with some trade ins) and start a Dynasty. The thought process is to get me back in the mood for football so when Madden hits next month I'll be ready to go.

Don't expect a great dynasty with fancy pictures (I've invested a ton of time on stuff for Madden). But do expect solid write ups, and informative posts. I'll be starting soon, no CAPs for this year (I dropped the ball, I know) but will be up for some next year. I'm going to make a couple for myself this season, and the next post will keep track of them. Enjoy everyone.

Eagles Dominate Fourth Quarter for Home Opening Win
September 3, 2011

Chestnut Hill - For a season opener, this was a stellar game to watch. The lead changed hands three times in the first half, and was still tied with less than two minutes left in the third quarter before Nate Freese hit his third field goal of the game, giving the Eagles a 16-13 advantage. Two consecutive interceptions by Northwestern senior Dan Persa netted the Eagles fourteen unanswered points and the eventual win, 30-13.

The game didn't come without scary moments however. Northwestern junior, Demetrius Fields fell to the turf awkwardly after a hit from linebacker Kevin Pierre Louis and didn't get up. After trainers tended to Fields, a cart was brought out and Fields was taken off. Announcements were made later, it appears the sophomore has broken his vertebrae, ending his season early. The Eagles also watched starting quarterback, Chase Rettig, leave the game in the third quarter with a shoulder injury. Mike Marscovetra struggled in replacement of Rettig, and all indications show Rettig will be available week two when BC travels to play the UCF Knights.

Re: Eagles Fly Once Again - BC Dynasty (NCAA 12)

Quick little message while I'm sitting here at work bored. After one game, not a fan of my quarterback position at all. In fact, I'm recruiting a true freshman scrambler quarterback to potential take over next year.

Speaking of the recruiting, pretty excited thus far on that front. Came in needing 3 positions badly, C, MLB, & P. So far, I've got two of those to commit, a punter and linebacker. Both had me as their top choice, but more on that with an update later.

Speaking of updates, I'll try to get a game in tonight, but I might be buying a car and it's like a 2 hour drive one way, so I doubt I'll get to it.

BC Nabs Two Recruits Early
September 7, 2011

Chestnut Hill - Just a week and a half into the recruiting process and Boston College has already filled two key needs on their recruiting board. With senior punter Ryan Quigley the only one at his position on the roster, Boston College was in dire need of a freshman at the position. Head coach Frank Spaziani wasted no time calling Barrie Ontario native Brian Austin, the 30th overall punter on the board. Austin was also in contact with West Virginia and Missouri, but elected to go to Chestnut Hill for the proximity to home, "It's close, but far enough away to give me some privacy," Austin said in a phone interview.

Also committing was cornerback Chris Howard. Howard, the 68th overall corner, was being recruited heavily by Rutgers and Penn State, but with Boston College electing to offer him a scholarship, he was more than willing to sign.

The Skinny on The Signed

Brian Austin | P | Rank - 30th | *** |

Hometown - Barrie, Ontario
Status - Hard Commit to BC

Chris Howard | CB | Rank - 68th | *** |
HT 6'1" | WT 189lbs
Hometown - Hawthorne, New Jersey
Status - Hard Commit to BC

Re: Eagles Fly Once Again - BC Dynasty (NCAA 12)

Boston College Roars Back, Dominates Second Half
September 10, 2011

Orlando Florida - Boston College was down, but not out. They had seven turnovers in the first half, their starting quarterback, Chase Rettig was already on the sidelines, deemed not to return and backup Mike Marscovetra wasn't looking stellar, throwing three interceptions. Plus, they were losing, 31-14 and the offense was essentially at a crawl.

But, the Eagles came back. Just fifteen seconds into the second half CJ Jones picked off a pass and returned it twenty-two yards to the end zone, closing the gap to ten. Three minutes later, after a stalled drive, running back Montel Harris scored his second touchdown of the game from six yards out, three point game. The Eagles would get the ball again, but Marscovetra would throw his fourth interception. Head coach Frank Spaziani determined to sub Daniel Shinskie, third string quarterback, into the game. After a UCF field goal, Shinskie took the field. Forty-five seconds later, Shinskie threw an interception on a deep pass. Unfortunately for the Knights, the BC defense stood tall again. This time senior safety Daniel LeGrande had his own "pick-six" and the Eagles took their first lead of the game, 35-34.

In the final period, the Eagle running game took off. Harris and Andrew Williams combined for a total of 362 yards of rushing, and four touchdowns (two by Williams in the fourth quarter) to pull away en route to their second win of the season.

Blue Devils Shock Eagles, Score 28 in Fourth Quarter
September 17, 2011

Chestnut Hill - In their previous two games, Boston College has dominated the fourth quarter, pulling away for the win and staying undefeated at 2-0. This week, they did just the opposite. Their offense fell apart, and the defense appeared to take a nap. Up 23-3, many in Chestnut Hill expected to win the game that featured Daniel Shinskie as their starter, after disappointing play by Mike Marscovetra last week, and Shinskie played well. Running back Montel Harris, the star of the offense, left the game in the first quarter with a shoulder injury. Andrew Williams, in his relief, played well.

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough, Duke scored three times in six minutes taking a 24-23 lead with just under two minutes left in the game. Seconds later, Shinskie found a wide open Bobby Swigert for a thirty-six yard touchdown and after a two point conversion, they retook the lead 31-24 with 1:26 left. Unfortunately, with just fifteen seconds left, Duke would score again, and tie the game, forcing overtime.

Duke would get the ball first and settle for a field goal. Boston College, trying to steal the game away again, failed as Daniel Shinskie was sacked on third and ten, forcing Boston College out of field goal range. A fourth down attempt fell incomplete and Duke celebrated their second win of the season while Boston College suffered their first loss.
