Coach's Corner:

Keenan Canty WR #29

Jarrod Darden WR #82

Canty, Spruce, and Darden have really stepped up at the WR position while Richardson has been down with a strained knee. Canty has collected 624 yards and 5 TDs in eight games this season while Spuce, while Darden has gone for 389 YDs and 4 TDs, and Spruce 255 YDs and 1 TD. Darden and Spruce have emerged just this month as serious threats down the field and have been unstoppable helping us to a 2-1 record this month with 2 huge conference wins. But the man who has been giving them that ball this season has been an unbelievable so far. 2152 YDs and 18 TDs with only 3 INTs this season. I couldn't ask for anything else. He is only a sophomore on this team yet he is leading this offense its first bowl game in five years. Their last appearance was against Alabama in the Independence bowl where they lost 34-40. I am excited to see where this program is going, however, there are some grumblings between coach's on this staff.

The blame game has begun between coach Embree, Brown, and myself. I am not one to start an argument between the defensive coordinator, but after the pitiful showing of our defense against Kansas, I could not contain myself any longer. Coach Embree had to step in and break up the argument. While it appears our team is making its way back up the ladder, and all of our positions seem safe for the immediate future, I cannot say I am happy with the poor play and leadership of our defense. Changes must be made.

Top Offensive Threats:

Nick Hirschman 154.2 Rating, 125-233, 2152 YDs, 18 TDs, 3 INTs
Tony Jones 123 Car, 508 YDs, 2 TDs

Big Losers:
-TCU: First loss of the season, they drop 11 spots to 16 after a promising 6-0 start
-Mississippi State: Another big loss this season drop Miss State 10 spots to 17. A big surprise last season and early this season, but reality begins to set in.
-Ohio State: Drops out the top 25 this week. Where has that program gone?

Big Winners:
-North Carolina: Moves up another spot to #5, who needs scholarship or Butch Davis?
-UCF: One of the new replacements in the C-USA this year, enjoying an easy conference schedule at 7-1.

Coach's Corner:

We are bowl eligible! A Year after a 3-9 season, we more than doubled our wins and we have a chance of playing in December. I am very excited, but also a little disappointed that my starting QB will not be able to take part. Hirschman went down with a strained pectoral in the 1st quarter and will miss the next three weeks. I am hoping for the best, maybe he can bounce back quickly and suit up, at least get a couple snaps in. If not, I know that Burnette will more than ready to take our team to its first 8 win season since 2004. Our freshman 3rd string QB Stevie Dorman even got in on the action this week and drilled an 87 yard score. He is 2-2 for 94 yards and 1 TD. His passer rating? 655.6. Tony Jones had a big bounce back game this week, as he has been hit by the injury bug all season. He has managed to eek out 919 yards the season with 4 TDs. Very impressive considering he has had to miss multiple games for issues with his ribs, pectoral, and hips. Jarrod Darden, another amazing story for our team this season. Stepping up when Richardson went down and going for over 200 yards this week. He has his stats up to 666 yards for 7 TDs. Just an amazing story for the red shirt Junior who just started playing in the second half of the season. Looking forward to seeing how the conference championships go down in a couple weeks and will be waiting for the word about bowl season. I'll have one last update this season after our bowl game and then i'll go more in depth over the season in review in the off season. Looking forward to our recruits next season. We have a lot of defense coming in and we will be switching our defensive scheme to accommodate the amount of passing yards we have been giving up. Would like coach Brown to take some responsibility for his poor play calling and generic defensive scheme.

Offensive Top Threats:

Nick Hirschman 143.1 Rating, 180-336, 2885 YDs, 22 TDs, 7 INTs, 38
Tony Jones 206 Car, 919 YDs, 4.4 AVG, 4 TDs
Keenan Canty 37 Rec, 853 YDs, 23.0 AVG, 6 TDs
Jarrod Darden, 30 Rec, 666 YDs, 22.2 AVG, 7 TDs
