This is good, but I think you need to give your format credits to bichettehappens - not to mention the espn banner from his photobucket acct.

Keep it up though, just give credit where it's due - eitherway, originality is a lot more creative to readers.

Yeah. bichettehappens helped me figure out html formatting when I couldn't understand it on my own as I got stumped early on so I messaged him about it and he was extremely helpful. I take no credit for anything but for gameplay, the design for the letter as I actually figured that out on m own using fieldsets and the writeups.

Thanks for reading though.

Yeah, HTML formatting is annoying, which is why I create images at larger scales. It is nice to see someone else use HTML though - you've got it down man.

Keep up the good work, for real, the niners have always been one of those teams - seems they are always in a make or break season, let's hope this year is different for ya

Honestly I don't expect to make the playoffs as while this team has a good front 7 on defense the secondary is weak. Then it will be interesting to see who wins the QB battle as well. I see this as a rebuilding year to get pieces in place for next season. Betting an 8-8 season would be some measure of improvement.

Preseason Schedule

The 49ers will begin their campaign at home against Kyle Orton and the visiting Denver Broncos. Eight days later the 'Niners will stay at home for the Battle of the Bay against the Oakland Raiders. The 49ers will then hit the road to face off with the Dallas Cowboys at their new stadium. The 49ers will conclude the preseason by visiting Qualcomm Stadium to clash with the San Diego Chargers.

"This will be a great opportunity for players trying to break into the starting lineup or even a backup role to showcase their ability. Rookies and recently acquired players will get to show the coaching staff and myself whether they'll be ready to go once the season starts."

"Our main goal however is to keep every player healthy which would be a huge victory for this team heading into the regular season." said head coach Mike Singletary.

Re: Niner Empire: A San Francisco 49ers Franchise

Denver

Broncos
1027San Francisco
49ers

San Francisco, CA -- What started out as a defensive struggle for both teams turned into a Denver rout in the second half.

After a promising Denver drive sputtered out after a holding penalty. The 49ers could muster nothing on offense after Kenny Peterson sacked Shaun Hill for a three yard loss. The Broncos would then lose rookie Knowshon Moreno for the day after taking a vicious hit from Patrick Willis. Once again the 49ers could get nothing going against the tough Broncos defense.

Brandon Marshall celebrates after his eighty-five yard touchdown.

On the ensuing Denver possession, Brandon Marshall caught a strike from Kyle Orton which he took eighty-five yards to the house. After the game starting cornerback Nate Clements said the play was a result of blown coverage.

With the Broncos now holding onto a seven nothing lead the 49ers still couldn't get a first down as Shaun Hill was sacked on back to back plays by D.J. Williams and Ronald Fields.

Kenny Peterson gets one of the seven sacks on 49ers QB's tonight.

On the next offensive possession for Denver a blitzing Patrick Willis sacked Kyle Orton and managed to dislodge the football. It was scooped up by Isaac Sopoaga who returned it nineteen yards to the Denver thirty yard line. With a prime scoring opportunity the hard running of Frank Gore got the 49ers into the red zone. Shaun Hill then capped off the drive by threading a pass to rookie Michael Crabtree who held on after taking a shot from two defenders.

The second quarter began with a Denver march all the way down to the San Francisco four before stalling out. After third and goal out trotted Matt Prater for the twenty-one yard field goal which sailed wide right. Prater later said that he was disgusted at missing the field goal. "Usually in the National Football League points are hard to come by and I squandered an opportunity to get my team points."

Prater's mistake would lead to no points however as a sustained drive into Denver territory was halted after Shaun Hill made the poor decision of throwing to a well covered Michael Crabtree. Champ Bailey intercepted the pass at the Denver nineteen and returned it one yard before being taken down by the intended receiver.

The Broncos would not be able to move the ball and after an Aubrayo Franklin sack they punted. The 49ers drove down the field once again but would be unable to punch it in at the three as Frank Gore was stopped just short by Elvis Dumervil. Joe Nedney managed to get his kick through the uprights to give San Francisco the lead which it would never relinquish.

With a minute left before halftime the Broncos tried to get in field goal range but a second sack by Patrick Willis would end the half with the score 10 to 7. Patrick Willis ended his night with nine tackles, three tackle assists, two sacks, and a forced fumble.

Michael Crabtree hangs onto a pass in the endzone after taking hits from two defenders.

Once halftime ended the backups, rookies, and bubble players came in to try and wow their coaches. Denver started off with a nice drive that unfortunately could go no further than midfield. The 49ers could get noting going either as Alex Smith was dropped by Le Kevin Smith on third down. The Broncos next drive faltered as well since they could not convert for a first down. Hard nosed running and a couple of competent throws by Alex Smith got the 49ers deep into Denver territory. The drive was completed by a sixteen yard scamper to the endzone by rookie Glen Coffee which gave San Francisco a 17 to 7 advantage with the third quarter nearly complete.

Backup quarterback Chris Simms answered San Francisco's long drive with one of his own that carried over into the fourth quarter. Despite a strong push the 49er defense kept Denver out of the endzone, forcing a short field goal which Prater knocked through this time making the score 17-10.

Rookie Nate Davis played well in his first action despite being sacked three times. On this first play from scrimmage he was brought down on a corner blitz by Champ Bailey who briefly returned to the game. Davis showed great poise by standing in the pocket and locating his running back Michael Robinson for a nineteen yard gain and a first down. He led his team into Denver territory before being brought down on a safety blitz by rookie David Bruton. Facing another third and long Davis remained cool as he delivered a twenty-nine yard bomb to Brandon Jones. Davis ended the drive by throwing a touchdown to backup tight end Delanie Walker.

Backup TE Delanie Walker jumps up to grab a Nate Davis pass.

Sitting on a two possession lead Denver needed a drive to stay in the game but disaster struck as fullback Peyton Hillis fumbled during the kickoff return after a strong hit by Dashon Goldson. The Denver defense held the 49ers to a field goal but with a seventeen point deficit and a little under six minutes they would need to score quickly to have any chance. Chris Simms lead a long drive while converting a pair of fourth downs. However he could not convert a third to keep the drive alive.

Now simply trying to run out the clock the 'Niners called three straight runs which were shutdown by the defense. With one last chance to make something happen Simms threw an interception to backup middle linebacker Jeff Ulbrich. Nate Davis then simply kneeled the ball to end the game.

Next week San Francisco (1-0) will stay at home for the Battle of the Bay against the Oakland Raiders (0-1). The Broncos will continue on the road as they head to Qwest Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks.

Here was head coach Mike Singletary after the game. "We fought a defensive battle for much of this game and emerged victorious. Denver was able to pile on yards but we kept them from scoring on several occasions and won the turnover battle three to one. However their is a lot for this unit to improve on. Surrendering seven sacks is completely unacceptable and will be a focal point in practice this week. Also while the defense played good football giving up an eighty-five yard pass play is unforgivable. If teams want to move the ball on us every yard will be contested. Now if you'll excuse me."

After the game we heard from head coach Josh McDaniels on Knowshon Moreno's injury. "Knowshon has suffered a broken collarbone which will sideline him for the entire preseason. He could return for our season opener but a more likely timeline sees him back in week two or three."
