Week 1 - Bristol Bay Vipers @ Cleveland Browns

Vipers Cant Overcome Turnovers

The Bristol Bay Vipers fall apart in the 4th quarter and hand the game to The Cleveland Browns, 28-13. The Vipers turn the ball over 6 times including 4 turnovers in the 4th quarters, leading to 15 points.

The Vipers started fast, forcing The Browns to go 3 and out. After the punt The Vipers drive 87 yards down the field, capping the drive off with a 35 yard touchdown pass to Erik McGovern. McGovern had 3 catches for 60 yards on the drive and finished the game with 7 catches for 90 yards and one touchdown.

The Browns answered right back, pounding the rock with Peyton Hillis. Hillis finished the drive off with a 14 yard touchdown run. Hillis had all 67 yards on the drive but was knocked out of the game in the 3rd quarter. Hills finished the game with 108 yards and a touchdown.

The Browns would add a field goal in the 2nd quarter to give them a 10-7 led going into halftime.

Both teams would trade field goals in the 3rd quarter, and then The Vipers would fall apart.

Geddy Norris threw 3 interceptions in the 4th; one resulted in an Eric Wright pick 6. Mike Bell who replaced Peyton Hillis, would carry The Browns offense the rest of the way. Bell finished the game with 55 yards rushing on 12 carriers and one touchdown.

The Vipers out played The Browns in every aspect of the game but the 6 turnovers were to much to overcome. The Vipers will need to take care of the ball better if they hope to win some games this year.

Colt McCoy struggled all game, McCoy was a horrible 5 for 15 for 85 yards, but the running game and defense saved him.

The Browns defense recorded 6 sacks, 4 interceptions and forced 3 fumbles, recovering 2 of them.

The Vipers fall to 0-1 and will travel to Denver next week.

Week 2 Bristol Bay Vipers @ Denver Broncos

A Tale Of 2 Halves

The Bristol Bay Vipers fell apart again but this time it happen in the matter of minutes. The Vipers were going toe to toe with The Denver Broncos in the 1st half and even looked like they were going to win this one. But when they came out of the locker room, they just looked lost, felling to The Broncos 26-10.

The Vipers scored at the very end of the 1st half, when Jemeryn Sparks pounded it in from one yard out, tying up the game at 10. Then it was all down hill from there.

On the kickoff to start the 3rd quarter, Nathan Hedrick broke 3 tackles, taking it 98 yards for a touchdown but a holding call forced The Vipers to start at their own 20 yard line (wouldnt be the only one called back). On the very next play Jereryn Sparks ties to fight for extra yards when D.J. Williams drops the hammer on him, forcing the ball out. Elvis Dumervil scoops it and scores from 25 yards outs, 17-10 Broncos.

On the very next kickoff Nathan Hedrick takes the kickoff to the house again,
but again a holding call. But The Vipers looked like they would overcome the turnover and penalties, driving all the way down to The Broncos 10 yard line when D.J. Williams happens again. Williams forces his 2nd fumble of the game, leading to a Matt Prater field goal. 20-10 Broncos after 3.

The 4th quarter didnt go any better for The Vipers, turning the ball over 2 times inside The Broncos 20 yard line. Both turnovers ended with Matt Prater field goals. In the end The Vipers played exactly like they did last week, great in the first half and crappy in the 2nd half.

The Vipers offense allowed 6 sacks, 2 interception, and 2 fumbles.

The Vipers (0-2) will now head home to face The 49ers (1-1).

Week 3 San Francisco 49ers @ Bristol Bay Vipers

49ers Outlast Vipers

The Bristol Bay Vipers and The San Francisco 49ers traded punch after punch in the first half, with Bristol Bay landing the last one right before half with a Dylan Thomas, 49 yard field goal. Which cut into The 49ers lead, 17-13.

On The Vipers first drive of the 2nd half, Geddy Norris tossed a pick 6 to Nate Clements. Clements returned it 35 yards for a touchdown and helped give The 49ers some breathing room, 24-13. After both teams traded punts, The Vipers slowly inch their way down the field with short pass and power runs up the middle with Jemeryn Sparks (finished the game with 192 rushing yards). Once again, The Vipers shot them selves in the foot, with back to back holding calls and were force to call on Dylan Thomas for a 45 yards FG, 24-16 after 3.

At the start of the 4th quarter The Vipers defense came up big, Larddaris Jordan drops the hammer on replacement back Kendall Hunter. Hunter fumbled the rock and defensive end Montrell Buchanan scoops it up and rumbles for 5 yards before Alex Smith could drag him down. The Vipers drove the remaining 33 yards and cap the drive off with an 11 yard touchdown pass to Marcus Ross, but fail to convert on the 2 pt. conversion, 24-22 49ers.

The Vipers would get once more chances at taking the led but a dropped 4th down pass by Dekendrick Hall (who dropped a team high 3) would seal their fate. The 49ers would add another field goal make it 27-22.

The Vipers (0-3) will square off with The Buffalo Bill, who are now (0-3).

Before the game The Vipers cut CB - Jordan Gray and signed TE - Rob Housler.
