Patriot Reign: M12 'Chise
The Patriots had a 2010 season of highs and lows. They finished the regular season with a 14-2 record and MVP season by Tom Brady. After losing in the divisional round to the Jets, what's next?
Intriguing off-season for the Patriots with the lockout and Patriots owner playing an important part of getting football back on schedule. Draft day was interesting as usual for Coach Belichick. Drafted OT Solder with the 1st round pick they got for Seymour he's a big 6'8" 319 athletic tackle who has played both RT and LT. Early 2nd round pick, Dowling has exceptional size and speed for a CB. Maching up with McCourty could be a dream scenario. Patriots used a 2nd and 3rd round pick on RBs Vareen and Ridley. Vareen, short, quick and powerful in the mold of Maurice Jones Drew, could get some quality playing time in the second half of the season. Ridley who is 5'11" 230, same mold as Brandon Jacobs, could replace Sammy Morris as the short yardage goal line back. Most interesting draft pick is 5th rounder, Marcus Cannon. Cannon, from TCU is a big guard 6'6" 250, was thought to be a 1st rounder but was diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma at the combine.
The Patriots still have lots of questions, can Tom Brady win his 3rd NFL MVP? Can they break the string of first round losses? How will new patriots Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth fit in with the Patriot way? Only time will tell.
