Re: Angry Birds - DJP's Louisville Cardinals
GAME REPORT 09-18-2011 @ 2-0..........2-0 Anderson following one of his 5 touchdowns (forgot to save pics) MAN-DERSON Anderson's Record-Breaking day Leads Cards to win Lexington, Kentucky - Victor Anderson had a big game last week when he ran for 243 yards and 3 touchdowns. If djp could have gotten that same performance from him this week against Kentucky he would have been ecstatic. He didn't. Instead he got 373 yards and 5 touchdowns. "Probably the best single-game performance I have gotten from any player in all my years, he really carried us." Following Anderson's big game last week and with Stein's struggles throwing the ball the Cardinals game plan was to feed the ball to Anderson and keep it out of Kentucky quarterback M. Newton's hands. Newton still managed 366 yards and 3 touchdowns but it wasn't enough. Kentucky started off the scoring with a 61 yard Newton to Melillo pass midway through the first. Anderson answered that score with a 47 yard TD run. Anderson would score from 78 yards out late in the first quarter after a Newton to Adams score that covered 73 yards. After playing to a 14-14 tie in the first quarter Kentucky could only manage a 32 yard McIntosh field goal late in the half against Anderson TD runs of 13 and 9 yards in the second quarter, giving Louisville a 28-17 lead at the half. Anderson would score again in the third, a 49 yard run and Kentucky's Allen would match that with an 8 yard score. With a 35-24 lead going into the 4th quarter djp began to phase in HB Jeremy Wright. "Wright has a slight speed advantage over Anderson and with Victor having worn that D down we figured Wright could break one and put the game away." Wright did just that, going 23 yards for a score to make it 42-24 late in the 4th. Kentucky would add a late Newton to Jones 46 yard TD against the Louisville second team defense. A failed conversion made the final 42-30 Louisville. "I just found the holes well and hit them hard. The guys up front really made it easy on me. It's a luxury to have a line like this to run behind." explained Anderson after his big day. Anderson's 373 yards was good enough for a Louisville single-game record, besting Anthony Allen's 275 in 2007. Louisville will play host to Marshall who comes in at 0-4.

Copeland gets behind the Cincy D, Brown scoops one and takes it in for six 10-21-11 v Rutgers L 10-12 Louisville came in hot after their first loss. The lack of Victor Anderson caused them to struggle mightily. Stein was injured early in the game and Brown looked clueless as he went 6 of 20 for 126 yards, 1 TD and a pick. Wright mustered just 40 yards on the ground and Chichester led the way with 83 receiving yards and the lone TD. 10-29-11 v Syracuse W 35-23 The Cardinals came into the game on a 2 loss skid but were still favored over the Orangemen. Stein came through with 208 yards and a pair of scores while Bellamy led the receivers with 96 yards and a score. 11-05-11 @ West Virginia W 65-55 The Mountaineers were undefeated and ranked #2. The Cardinals had suffered a pair of losses already and had squeeked by Syracuse. Louisville would not have Victor Anderson. The game became a shootout with both QBs going over 400 yards. Stein threw for 160 and a TD while Wright went for 205 and a TD on the ground. Zelli added another score on a fumble recovery in the end zone. Wright gets around the corner, Butler records a sack 11-25-11 @ USF W 35-21 Ranked 18th Louisville was looking to improve that ranking as they wrapped up their regular season at Raymond James stadium. Stein went for 281 and 3 TDs along with an interception. Wright struggled on the ground picking up 116 yards on 39 carries and added a score. The defense scored again when Simien scooped a fumble in the endzone. Copeland jukes a defender, Wright runs in form 6 yards out End of Regular Season Louisville finished their regular season with a record of 10-2. The turn-around was more than expected by many experts but the soft Big East schedule left some of them less than impressed. Regardless Louisville had earned a bid in the Belk Bowl on December 26th in North Carolina. They would face #25 Virginia Tech who would be the favorites. |

Re: Angry Birds - DJP's Louisville Cardinals
GAME REPORT 12-26-11 BELK BOWL vs #15 10-2..........#25 9-3 Anderson scores one of his TDs, Chichester leaps to haul in a pass THE BELK MAN Anderson's return propells Cards to victory Chapel Hill, North Carolina - Louisville was never expected to turn things around so quickly when djp came to town. Many experts refused to give them credit stating that their Big East schedule was too soft. Despite a win over a West Virginia team that was ranked #2 when they played the Cardinals were still the underdog when they headed to the Tarheel state to face #25 Virginia Tech. Tech came into the game with a 9-3 record. Their losses were to Clemson, Miami and Georgia Tech. Prior to the game there were still questions as to Victor Anderson's availability but he answered them early and often. He scored from 4 yards out midway through the first quarter and would go on to carry 32 times for 280 yards and 6 touchdowns. "He kept telling us over and over that he was 100%. We knew he would be able to go at least a little bit for us but we never expected such a big game." Anderson would add a 56 yard score late in the first quarter on the other side of a 9 yard Thomas to Oglesby score for the Hokies. Anderson scored three more times in the second frame, from 4 yards, 2 yards and a yard. Tech's Roberts answered with two scores of his own. The first was a 34 yard catch and run from Thomas and the second was a 102 yard kickoff return that made the Louisville coverage team look silly. At the half Louisville had a 36-21 lead. The third quarter saw the lead increase by 10 on a Philpott 28 yard field goal as well as Anderson's 6th touchdown, another 1 yarder. Up 46-21 it appeard that the Cardinals were on easy street. Tech had other plans. Thomas hit Coale for a 7 yard score but the kick was missed and the score was 46-27, still well in hand. Philpott added another 3 with a 42 yard connection, 49-27. Tech answered by cutting it to 49-35 with a Wilson 1 yard run and a 2 point conversion. A third Philpott kick made it 52-35 but Tech still had time. They cut further into the lead when Wilson scored again from the 2 yard line. Myer's kick made it a 10 point game at 52-42. Time was running out and after Louisville recovered the onside kick they were able to run out the clock and hold on for the win. "All the kids played their hearts out for us all season. I couldn't have asked for a better year." djp said as he was getting a gatorade bath. Lousiville finishes the season 11-2 while Virginia Tech drops to 9-4. The Cardinals should finish in the top 15 while Tech is likely to drop out of the polls.
