Louisville, Kentucky - Still reeling from a heartbreaking loss at Pittsburgh the Cardinals would have no time to lick their wounds as #14 Auburn was coming to town.
Auburn took an early lead when the capped a long drive with a 31 yard Parkey field goal. Emmanuel Richardson would knot it up early in the second with a 22 yard kick. Each kicker would go on to hit a pair of field goals on the day. Parkey would also miss a pair. Parkey hit his second, a 26 yarder, midway through the second quarter. Louisville would piece together a long drive, chewing up a lot of clock by snapping the ball with under :05 on the play clock each time, and score on a 2 yard plunge by Wright. The extra point was tipped and sailed wide left. Louisville took the 9-6 lead to the half.
To start the second half Auburn put together a long, time consuming drive but were forced to attempt a long field goal after a pair of incompletions and a sack. Parkey would come up short on the kick. Louisville would break the game open when Brown hit Nord on a quick read and he would take it 78 yards to the house. Richardson hit the point after and it was a 2 possession game, Cardinals 16, Tigers 6. With Trotter out of the game Mosely was under center. Auburn would put together another solid drive that spilled into the fourth quarter but see it ended when Holton jumped a route in the endzone and picked it off. Louisville would turn the takeaway into a late field goal and win by a score of 19-6.
"I really gotta call their game plan into question. Honestly if I've got their talent a runningback I'd have run the ball a lot more than they did. Especially after Trotter got hurt. I'm not complaining though." stated djp. Auburn seemed to have much success running the ball early in their possessions but would go pass heavy when they crossed mid-field and saw their drives sputter out.
Louisville will travel to face Rutgers next week.

Navy is currently 5-2 while Rutgers other opponents have won 4 games combined. Louisville's opponents are 17-17. Key players for Rutgers are WR Mohamed Sanu, QB Chas Dodd and MLB Steve Beauharnais. New Brunswick, New Jersey - Louisville found themselves in the birthplace of college football for a battle with the undefeated Scarlet Knights of Rutgers.
The lone touchdown of the first half came when Jeremy Wright plowed in form a yard out to give Louisville the 7-0 lead. The teams exchanged field goals in the second quarter. Richardson connected from 26 yards out and later Rutgers' Williams hit from 29 yards out, he had missed a kick in the first quarter. The Cardinals led 10-3 at the half.
The third quarter gave every indication that the game would continue to be a low scoring affair as each team had long drives result in no points. Brown was picked off deep in Rutgers territory to end Louisville's only threat. Rutgers lone long drive resulted in another missed field goal.
Fans of offense who had changed the channel would come to regret it as the final 5:33 of the game saw an explosion of 36 points. First it was Louisville's Richardson connecting on a 32 yard field goal to make it 13-3 Cardinals. Then the Knights offense would come to life. At 3:18 they scored on a 7 yard Dodd to Derring pass. Just over a minute and s half later Dodd hit Jefferson for another TD. Rutgers held a 17-13 lead. Louisville reclaimed their lead at the 1:11 mark when Radcliff got behind the defense and hauled one in for a 46 yard score. A barrage of long passes set Rutgers up on the Louisville 5 where Thomas ran into the endzone with just :46 left to play. A stuffed 2 point conversion made the score 23-19 Rutgers.
Brown took possession on the Rutgers 46 after a long kick return by Haris. Brown threw incomplete on first down, just out of reach to TE Nathan Brown. On second down Brown was dropped for a 9 yard loss, bringing up a third and 19. Another incompletion had the game on the line at 4th and 19. Brown took the shotgun snap, rolled to his left then fired a pass to a wide open Radcliff who went down the sideline until he was shoved out at the Rutgers 17. It was a 39 yard gain. Brown wasted no time going back to Radcliff, hitting him on an out route that Radcliff would take to the house. Richardson made it 26-23. Rutgers would have one final shot from their own 20 but a sack by Dunn killed the clock and sealed the win for Louisville.
"We saw Scott (Radcliff) really getting open out there earlier in the game. He may not have all the tools but he's been here a long time contributing and he really came through for us in the 4th quarter." djp said after the game. Radcliff had 5 receptions in 2011 with no scores and had 3 receptions and no touchdowns coming into the game.
Louisville will face Connecticut next Saturday. UConn is 4-1.
