Jamil Vogel's 97 yard interception return for a touchdown was the only spark as the Tennessee Volunteers lost by a score of 67-14. The Vols were clicking early on defense, as they forced 2 3 and outs. However, the moribund Vols offense couldn't capitalize on any of the stops. South Carolina managed to get in field goal range early and hit a field goal. The Vols punted, and South Carolina managed to drive all the way inside the redzone. Tennessee's Vogel picked it off and ran 97 yards for a 7-3 lead for Tennessee.

That was about the only bit of good news for Tennessee. The Vols looked lost on offense, as there was absolutely no running game at all. The Gamecock kicker was smashing 55 yard field goals through as if they were extra points. The Vols couldn't stop the Cocks, and they ended up getting destroyed. The scored a TD late, but it was little more than a consolation prize for them.

Travis Tyson is set to come back for the LSU game, and they'll need him to have a miracle shot of beating the Tigers.

The Vols looked much improved today against undefeated LSU. Travis Tyson was back in the lineup, and helped Tennessee to mount some sort of an offensive attack today. However, LSU was just too much for Tennessee, and with the help of special teams and running back Jason James, they ended up rolling the Vols and continuing their undefeated season. Tennessee is now in the backstretch of games for this year. They have Vanderbilt and Kentucky left, and are trying to at least split the two. If they can, the Vols could have a solid foundation built for 2012.

Tennessee went up to Lexington for their final road game of the year. This game was a defensive showcase, with both teams not being able to gain any sort of momentum at all. Kentucky finally broke the ice, and scored a touchdown off of an 8 yard Kenneth Coley scramble. That took them to the half up 7-0 on Tennessee.

The Vols came back though. Late in the 3rd quarter, Jesse Smith, playing in his next to last game, stormed through the line, and was off and running. 24 yards later, he was in the endzone, and Tennessee had scored and tied the game heading into the 4th quarter.

The 4th quarter saw Kentucky drive the ball very well, eating up 3 minutes of the clock. Kenneth Coley scrambled 15 yards, and dove into the endzone, as the crowd of 55,000 strong erupted in cheers. Tennessee would not go down quietly, as they drove down the field. They looked poised. However, the game eventually ended up coming down to a 4th and 3. Tyson took the snap, and ended up forcing a pass that was batted down. The Wildcats had won the game, and Tennessee's hopes of a .500 record were dashed.

However, the Vols did wind up picking up a small victory on the recruiting trail.

Re: Life After Death - A Tennessee Volunteers Dynasty (NCAA 07)

COACH MURPHY TO RESIGN AFTER VANDY GAME

Coach DeMonte Murphy, the coach who was tabbed to lead the Vols out of the wilderness, is resigning after the Vanderbilt game. He gave reasons to WBIR-TV Knoxville about his resignation.

"I love Tennessee. I was a walkon here in the late 90's, and there's nothing more I'd love than to take UT back to the promised land. However, there are other things going on in my life as of right now. Family issues, you know? This has been a long and tenuous two years here, but I wouldn't trade it for the world."

The Board of Trustees has already begun the search for Coach Murphy's replacement, and is expected to have an announcement before the 2nd week of December. Sources tell us the hire will be, "very familiar", to those living in the Knoxville area.
