Big Showdown in the Big Easy
New Orleans, LA -- Two of the top six teams in the NFC will face off this Sunday as the high-flying offenses of the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions square-off. This game could also have an impact on seeding and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. New Orleans currently sits in a tie atop the NFC with the Green Bay Packers who are also 9-2. However, Green Bay holds the tiebreaker due to their week one win over the Saints. The Saints, who sit just a half game up on the Falcons for the final Wild-Card spot are also in much need of a win.
"There's playoff implications riding on this game for us. This is going to be a big test for our football team. I am expecting a playoff-like atmosphere. This will especially be a test for our defense. We're not going to back-down, that's for sure. We've got a young and hungry team and I expect my players to come out and compete for four quarters. The game will also feature two of the league's top quarterbacks. Drew Brees has already thrown for 3,352 yards and 27 touchdowns and his 100.5 quarterback rating ranks second in the NFL. Third year Lions QB Matthew Stafford has thrown for 2,584 yards and 18 touchdowns, both are good enough to rank him in the top 12 of the league.

Teams Combine for Over 1,000 Yards of Offense
Jahvid Best leaps into the endzone for a TD
New Orleans, LA (AP) -- In a game featuring two of the NFL's most explosive offenses neither team did anything to disappoint. Detroit racked up 635 yards of offense while the Saints tallied 418. It was the two quarterbacks that stole the show, as expected. Matthew Stafford was 25/39 passing for 422 yards and three touchdowns while Drew Brees went 19/26 for 417 yards and three touchdowns. It was the ground-game, though, that separated the two teams as Jahvid Best gained 137 yards rushing on 22 carries and found the endzone twice; while New Orleans running-back Darren Sproles managed just 17 yards on five carries but did score one touchdown.
Stafford hits Tony Scheffler who does the rest for a 42 yard touchdown
In a game with over 800 yards passing there was plenty of catches to go around. For New Orleans it was Marquest Colston who set the tone with four catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns. Lions rookie receiver Titus Young had five catches for 119 yards and one touchdown while Calvin Johnson caught three passes for 87 yards and a TD.
