Seattle, WA --
It has been announced that ESPN and The Home Depot will sponsor a four team season opening kick-off classic. Re: Awakening the Sleeping Giant || A Washington Huskies Dynasty (NCAA 12)

Chris Polk Shocks the Nation With Return

Seattle, WA -- It's hard to imagine why a running-back who rushed for 2,684 yards and 33 touchdowns, won the Heisman Trophy, and every other major award a player can win would return for his senior season; that is of course, if you're not Chris Polk. For Polk the decision was an easy one. "Believe me, the decision to return was not an easy one. I went back-and-forth for weeks and really struggled with what I wanted to do. In the end, though, I couldn't get the bad taste of a couple of games out of my mouth. We were two games away from playing for a national championship. Those are two games we felt we could have won. I saw all the players we were going to have back this season, and new it could be a special one. In the end, the decision became obvious and I felt like my work at Washington wasn't done." Said Polk.

The two games he is referring to is a 40-34 overtime loss at Stanford and a 24-18 loss at Southern Cal. Two games in which the Huskies had opportunities to win but, in the end, came up short. It's very rare this day and age to see a player, after having arguably the greatest season of any player to ever play their position to come back for a final season. Polk's 2,684 rushing yards broke Barry Sanders' single season rushing mark. Polk is also on the verge of breaking two career rushing records held by legendary Washington running-back Napoleon Kaufman. Polk needs just two touchdowns to break Kaufman's career mark of 34 career touchdowns and needs 1,357 yards to break Kaufman's school record of 4,041 career rushing yards. Polk would need to average 113.1 yards rushing per game to pass Kaufman.

"Yes, I was surprised when Chris announced he would be returning but, obviously, we are very glad to have him back. The potential of this team's success increased exponentially when he said he was coming back. We will have a lot of key players back this year and feel like this could be a very special season." Said Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Washington has a very stiff schedule this year with non-conference games against the defending national champs LSU at Baton Rouge and a home game against Notre Dame. With the addition of Boise State to their division, the Huskies will have another very tough conference game to go along with their match-ups against Oregon and Stanford. All-in-all Washington has five games on their schedule against ranked opponents, all of which are ranked in the top preseason top 15.

Something special could be brewing in Seattle, but they will have their work cut out for them to just match last season's successful 11 win season, let alone surpass it.

Miami Holds Off Kansas State Comeback Bid

Manhattan, KS -- The Miami Hurricanes looked poised to put this game to rest early. After cruising to a 24-7 halftime lead the Canes began the second half on offense. On the verge of going ahead 31-7 Miami running-back Lamar Miller fumbled the ball fighting to get across the goal-line. Kansas State recovered, and fought their way back into the game. With ample opportunities to take the lead in the fourth quarter, down just 24-21, the Wildcats could not ever get over the hump and fell to the last year's national runner-up.

Re: Awakening the Sleeping Giant || A Washington Huskies Dynasty (NCAA 12)

Picking Up Where He Left Off

Seattle, WA -- Different season, same old Chris Polk. Polk ran through, around, and over the Nevada defense on his way to 209 yard, one touchdown performance. The one touchdown ties Polk for the Washington school record of career rushing touchdowns, a mark he will more than likely surpass next week given his track record. With the passing game struggling, Washington needed all the help they could get from the ground game, and it came in spades. Red-shirt sophomore Jesse Callier chipped in with 117 rushing yards of his own on 15 carries and scored two touchdowns, and red-shirt freshman Bishop got in on the fun with a 20 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Washington tallied 371 rushing yards in their 45-7 tune-up contest before traveling to Death Valley next week to take on the defending national champion LSU Tigers.

Re: Awakening the Sleeping Giant || A Washington Huskies Dynasty (NCAA 12)

Miami Lands Winston
Henry, Blanton Name Top Five

It didn't take long for our first prospect in our "On The Recruiting Trail" special to announce where he would be attending school next year. Five-star Tanner Winston, the nation's number one MLB out of Georgia, announced he will be a Miami Hurricane next season. At 6'3" 235 pounds, Wintson has ideal linebacker size and will be a great addition to Al Golden's already loaded Hurricane roster. Winston also had offers from Florida State and Auburn but never really gave them much consideration.

"Don't get me wrong, both Florida State and Auburn are great schools and have great programs, but I've wanted to be a Cane since I was a kid. I like coach Golden too. I have a lot of respect for him and, obviously, Miami is back. They came withing a touchdown of winning a championship last year and I hope I can be one of the missing pieces to get the elusive national championship." -Tanner Winston
In other news, two of our recruits have narrowed their lists to five schools. First is five-star receiver Dalton Henry out of New York. Henry currently holds just one offer from Penn State who has a sizable lead for his services. However, Henry is still considering Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.

Justin Blanton, a four-star defensive-end out of Arkansas, has also narrowed his list to give schools. Blanton currently holds an offer from Oklahoma and Ole Miss. Right now it appears Oklahoma is the leader. Blanton is also considering Arkansas, LSU, and Iowa.
