Re: The University of Miami Hurricanes (NCAA 11)

New Hurricanes Coach

Miami, Flordia - It is now official that University of Tennessee Head Coach Lane Kiffin has left UT to pursue that vacant head coaching job at the University of Miami. Lane Kiffin, also a former National Football League head coach for the Oakland Raiders, has decided to leave the University of Tennessee after just one season. Many reports from anonymous sources stated that Lane Kiffin was planning on taking over the head coaching vacancy at the University of Southern California; Pete Carroll has left for the Seattle job in the NFL. Kiffin was a wide receivers coach at USC before taking the job in Oakland, which is why him as the man in USC wasn't out of the question.

Kiffin leaving for the controversial job in Miami, Flordia was a very surprising move. No one saw it coming and, as it seems, was also surprising to Lane Kiffin himself. "I got the call about a week ago for the USC job and I told them to give me a week. I was just about to call USC back a week later when I got a message from Shawn (Eichorst, AD of MIA) saying that the job at Miami was open and I was their number one choice. I don't know why, but the instant after he told me I was the #1 choice, something deep inside me said yes. It was like one of those surreal moments; I said yes, and that was the end of it. No thought of it occurred to me afterwards and I was booking my flight to Miami the next day to meet Shawn (Eichorst) and the rest of the Athletic Department. Now, days later, here I am talking to you guys about it." The landscape of the ACC could very well change in the next year or two. Miami, whose last National Title was in 2001, looks to get back on top of the college football world with new head coach, Lane Kiffin. Lane Kiffin left a little message for the rest of the ACC and other schools in the NCAA FBS; "Miami is coming and we are going to be National Champions by the end of the year."

Miami, Florida- Lane Kiffin has had the whole off-season to mesh with his new team. Word around the locker room is that all the players have really taken to Kiffin well. Starting MIA QB and potential Heisman candidate Jacory Harris met with some reporters after an open practice and was said stating this: "We love coach. He has worked us really hard but have found out a lot of things that we never knew before about football. Coach is pushing us hard and we are loving it. We will play really hard for him, and will give it 200% each and every week this season. We plan on winning the National title this year, and I think we will. The mood around the locker room is high and we are all ready for Ohio State in week 2." When asked why he has overlooked FAMU he laughed and stated: "We're not worried about them. Why would we be? Coach told us to not even sweat them. We are already doing our game-plan for Ohio State."

Miami Coach Lane Kiffin was met after the remarks by his starting QB were made public. "He was lying.. we did in fact make a game-plan for FAMU. We met together for about an hour and all that was said by the coaching staff and I was... 'Have Fun out there.' That is a game-plan right there. Now in all seriousness... FAMU isn't in our cross-hairs right now. The real challenge will be Ohio State in week 2; that is all we care about right now." We will see what exactly does happen in a week when FAMU and Miami meet on the gridiron. As said by Chris Berman "... and that is why they play the game...." We will see if that holds true.

Re: The University of Miami Hurricanes (NCAA 11)

'Canes have a field day

One of many scores for the 'Canes in the game

Miami, FL - The University of Miami Hurricanes have started off the 2010 season on the right foot. The 'Canes embarrass the FAMU Rattlers 59-0 in front of the Miami fans. The fans came in full force for this game and were loud throughout the beating. In the first quarter the Hurricanes were able to get two touchdown scores on long drives that ate the clock. One of the scores came on a touchdown pass from J. Harris to R. Gordon. The touchdown throw can be seen in the highlight video below.

In the second quarter two more scores were piled on and this was beginning to look like a blowout. The Rattlers offensive couldn't move the ball at all on the strong Miami defensive front and the 'Canes finished with 9 sacks on the helpless Rattlers' quarterback. A. Bailey, who recorded 3 sacks in the game, said: "No offensive to FAMU or anything like that... but it felt like an extra day of practice out there to us. Their quarterback just stood around and took the hits like a sled during practice. I almost feel bad for the guy we pushed around." Two other players who had a hand at making the game terrible for the Rattlers were running backs G. Cooper and D. Berry who both had 3 touchdowns... each. Cooper had 140 yards on 14 attempts while D. Berry had 92 yards on 11 attempts. These yards came very easily. The FAMU defense couldn't hold back the ground and pound of the Miami offense and rushing touchdowns of 40 and 48 yards really helped Miami pull away further in the 3rd.

Lane Kiffin held a brief press conference with a few reporters after the game. "I'd just like to start by saying that I love how my players performed today. I don't think at any point in the game can you say that no one on this Hurricane team didn't give 110%. The quarterbacks, the running backs, the kickers, receivers, blockers, defensive backs, linebackers, and coaches all did their parts today and that is what helped us put on a show for the great fans of Miami. After seeing the performance this week, I have absolutely no doubt that we will be the National Champions at the end of the year. Our team is just unbeatable. I'm sorry to be such an narcissistic ***hole, but seriously... look at the game. There is no doubt in my mind... a new dynasty in college football is starting. This was the first taste."

Re: The University of Miami Hurricanes (NCAA 11)

Miami, FL - It seems Lane Kiffin's great first game for the 'Canes has drawn some attention to some recruits. Chris Morgan, a 4-Star FS out of Temple, Texas has already committed to the University of Miami. Lane Kiffin didn't even have to meet Chris Morgan nor did Morgan have to come for a visit. Lane asked him this simple question "Do you want to be a 'Cane?" and that was it. Chris Morgan committed on the spot over the phone and will be visiting Miami after his senior season of high school is over to sign the scholarship papers. Lane Kiffin, like always, gave his thoughts: "Chris is a great kid. Very polite and professional. When I popped that question though, I heard his excitement. I've seen the tapes of him playing. Last year, in his junior season, he had 10 interceptions. The kid can play, and that is why I want him to be a 'Cane. Welcome to the family, Chris!"
