Re: Sippin' the Haterade - A Tennessee Titans Franchise (M12)
Brady and Patriots Make Titans Look Uggly
New England gets ball first and out comes Brady who is having a great season(1,175 yards, 10 TD, 0 INT, 61.8%). After a few first downs, Brady is sacked by Tekerrin Cuba to bring up a 4th down and a punt situation. Following a penalty, the Titans start their opening drive from the TEN 10-yard line. Locker connects with Nate Washington on 3rd and 5 for 15 yards. Three plays later on 3rd and 5, Locker scrambles for another first down. A few plays later, Jared Cook Cook Jr gets into the action for a 23-yard gain down to the NWE 31-yard line. The Titans continue moving forward as LT later converts a 3rd and inches to setup 1st and goal at NWE 3. Locker passes short to Cook on 3rd and goal but he is tackled short. Bironas comes out to put up the first points for 3-0 lead. Next drive, Brady hits Manningham on 3rd and 1 for a 12-yard gain and first down. Chris Polk opens up with a 21-yard first carry on a draw play. Later, Brady passes to Gronkkowski for 18 yards to the TEN 20-yard line. On 3rd and 8, Brady finds Welker who is stopped right at the marker to bring up 4th and inches. Out comes Gostkowski to tie it up at 3-3. After a few incompletions, the Titans are faced with 3rd and 10 but Locker hits Cook for 1st down over the middle on a blitz. LT runs a sweep but is blasted and fumbles, recovered by Jerod Mayo and returned for a TD. Coach Munchak has his doubts, so he challenges. Upon further review, the play is overturned and the drive will continue. Locker hits Damian Williams on 3rd and 12 for a first down. On the next 3rd and long, Locker find Michael Floyd on an out-route for his first catch and another first down to NWE 20-yard line. Following a holding penalty, Locker find LT out of the backfield for a 10-yard gain but he fumbles again on the drive but it is recovered by Cook at the NWE 18-yard line. On 3rd and 7, Locker finds Britt over the middle and the chain gang comes out to measure. They say he got it, setting up 1st down at the NWE 11-yard line. Facing another 3rd and 4 from the NWE 5-yard line, Locker hits Williams for only a 1-yard gain to bring up 4th down and a Bironas FG, extending the lead 6-3. The offense can't believe all those 3rd down conversions resulted in only 3 points. Both teams had failed drives following the field goal and New England got it back with 0:42 seconds left at their own 20-yard line. They made it out to the TEN 45-yard line before the clock ran out for Halftime. The Titans open up the 2nd half with the ball. Jake Locker comes out firing, hitting Jared Cook Jr for a big gain off the play-action. A few plays later, Locker completes a pass for a 14-yard gain to Michael Floyd down to the NWE 25-yard line where he is lit up by Brandon Spikes, forcing a fumble that is recovered by Pat Chung at the NWE 32-yard line. The Pats went back to the ground attack, giving it to Polk on back-to-back carries, both for first downs. After completions to Welker and Gronkowski, the Pats were in Titan territory. Keith Bullock's first sack of the season then sets up 3rd and 13 from the TEN 25-yard line. Derrick Morgan comes up with a huge sack to bring up 4th down. Gostkowski drills FG to tie the game at 6-6. Locker responds with a nice completion to Michael Floyd out to TEN 44-yard line. At this point, LT has done absolutely nothing so he goes to the bench in favor of Jefferey Demps. Locker then hits Jared Cook for a short gain. Demps gets a shot at an outside run on a stretch play to the left. He jukes past a defender and Pat Chung lays the lumber to force another fumble that is recovered by Nate Washington. Both backs are fumbling at this point. Both teams went 3-and-out from there and the Pats get ball to open 4th quarter. The Brady-Welker is working well and sets up 3rd and 4 from the TEN 17-yard line. Brady finds Hernandez for his first catch and a 1st down. A Chris Polk run sets up an unexpected FB dive to the rookie Rehberger who scores the TD to give the Patriots their first lead at 13-6. Ensuing drive, Locker is sacked by Cunningham to force a 3-and-out for Tennessee. The Pats start their drive at the TEN 46-yard line. Brady hits Welker on 3rd and 5 and out comes the chain gang for a measurement - first down. Brady finds Welker for another 1st down, then hits Mario Manningham for a TD on a perfectly throw post route, extending the lead to 20-6 (NWE lead). A third straight Titans 3-and-out gives New England the ball back late in the 4th. They feed Polk the ball and a worn-out Titans defense cannot stop him. After spending the majority of the second half on the field, there was simply nothing left in the tank. The Titans offense was pathetic today. LT fumbled twice (one overturned, one recovered by the offense), Jeff Demps fumbled once and Michael Floyd fumbled once. Only 2 of the fumbles resulted in turnovers, but they were on drives when the offense was headed for points. In the second half, the Titans offense didn't convert a single 3rd down. The defense continues to play exceptionally well, holding a potent Patriots offense to only 20 points for the game. Chris Polk was a beast today and was very difficult to stop. Polk was especially good on draw plays. Had the Patriots let him carry it 25-30 times, they may have doubled their points output. Following the loss, the Titans will fall to (2-3). One of the toughest divisions in the league last season (accounting for 3 playoff teams) is looking like one of the weakest this season. The Titans will look to get back to .500 next week against the Houston Texans. Some possible depth chart moves could be order after today. Titans Game Ball: Titans defense: 20 points allowed, 4 sacks It is tough to find anyone to give a game ball to today. The defense definitely kept the offense in the game, but Locker and co. were invisible in the second half. Next Up...A look around the league. |

Re: Sippin' the Haterade - A Tennessee Titans Franchise (M12)
Coach Munchak Announces Depth Chart Adjustments HB Munchak had no answer for what has gone wrong with the running game this year. Ladainian Tomlinson was expected to be starter-worthy, but has had trouble getting anything going this season. Rookie Jefferey Demps will be given his first career start in the Tennessee backfield due to lack of production from Tomlinson (67 rushes for 206 yards, 0 TD in 5 starts). Coach Munchak is hoping Demps can provide a much-needed spark to what has been a dismal rushing attack so far. C Starting Center Shaun O'Hara never really recovered from the Week 2 beating he got from Tyson Alualu (who recorded 6 sacks in the game). O'Hara continues to get tossed around like a rag-doll and has not been very good at opening up any holes for the Tennessee running backs. Munchak has decided to put some new blood out on the field this week. Peter Konz, who is expected to be a fixture at the center position in the future, will get his first career start this week against Houston. With the (1-5) Houston Texans coming to town this week, Munchak decided it was as good of a time as any to shake things up. |

Re: Sippin' the Haterade - A Tennessee Titans Franchise (M12)
Shifty Rookie Demps Provides Spark to Running Game, Titans Back to .500
THE RUNDOWN The Texans opened up the game by receiving the kickoff. After a quick 3-and-out, the Titans offense would get their first chance. The first play for the Titans is to new-starter Jefferey Demp off the right tackle. He gets to about the line of scrimmage when JJ Watt blows him up, jarring the ball loose. Connor Barwin jumps on the loose ball and the Texans take over at the TEN 35-yard line. Foster breaks 2 tackles on a 2nd down sweep play, but is stopped by safety Tekerrein Cuba to setup 3rd and 2. Houston goes back to Foster to pickup the first down. On 3rd and 11, Shaub hits Kevin Walter for a 5-yd gain over the midle to setup a San San Te (Rookie UDFA kicker) FG and an early 3-0 lead for the Texans. The Titans open up their second drive behind Locker who connects with Kenny Britt for a 15 yard gain on his first pass attempt. On the next play, Jefferey Demps gets some redemption for his fumble, getting outside for a huge 32-yard gain on a stretch left. From there, Locker connected with Michael Floyd and Rob Housler to setup a 2nd and Goal. The Titans are able to take the lead when Locker finds Jared Cook Jr on a short pass over the middle for a TD. On the ensuing drive, Arian Foster starts things off with a 20-yard run out to the 40-yard line. The Titans try to bring some heat but the Texans have a screen play dialed up that goes for another 20-yard gain, now out to the TEN 40-yard line. On 3rd and 10, Shaub hits Andre Johnson to setup a 4th and 6. Houston kicker Te comes out to attempt a 53-yarder from the left hash mark but misses it left to give the Titans good field position. On first down, Demps takes it up the middle for a first down. Two plays later, Locker hits Michael Floyd to setup 3rd and 2. The Titans go back to Demps, who converts it down to the HOU 29-yard line. At this point, Demps is already over 50-yards rushing in the first quarter (season-high). Locker finds Kenny Britt on 2nd down to setup another first down at the HOU 14-yard line. Locker scrambles to the 1-yard line, but a holding penalty takes it all the way back to the HOU 24-yard line. On 3rd and 26, Locker gets sacked for a big loss to move the Titans out of FG range so they have to punt. What a turn of events. It looked like 1st and Goal from the HOU 1-yard line, but thanks to a holding penalty and 2 sacks, the Titans get nothing. The Texans go 3-and-out and the Titans next drive starts at the TEN 17-yard line. Quickly facing 3rd and 2, the Titans turn to the quick-footed Demps who gets stopped at the marker. The chain gang comes out for a measurement and says he got it. On 2nd down, Nate Washington tosses CB Kareem Jackson out of the way in man-to-man coverage and Locker sees him running free down the left sideline. He heaves one up for Washington, who catches it in stride and takes it to the house for a 72-yard TD and a 14-3 lead. After a few Foster runs and a pass to Jacoby Jones, the Texans are driving at the TEN 39-yard line. On 3rd and 3, they are hit with a false start penalty to setup 3rd and 8. Schaub throws a screen pass to Andre Johnson down to the TEN 18-yard line. Now facing 3rd and 11 with under 2:00 left, another false start penalty backs Houston up to make it 3rd and 16. Shaub finds Andre Johnson on a slant and he throws Verner to the ground on a vicious stiff arm, makes a move on Tekerrein Cuba, and is able to score the first Texans TD to cut the Titans lead to 14-10. A short kick gets the Titans to the TEN 28-yard line with 1:27 left in the half. Locker finds Michael Floyd to the TEN 41-yard line. Locker hits Floyd again to the 50-yard line, now with 0:53 seconds. Locker looks over the middle for Jared Cook and the pass is tipped by Brandon Harris, who bobbles it, before coming down with an INT and returning it to the HOU 46-yard line with 0:45 seconds in the half. Suddenly it is the Texans who are now looking to score before the half. A quick pass to Kevin Walter moves them to the TEN 45-yard line, time #1 Houston. A few plays later, on 3rd and 2, Shaub hits Owen Daniels for a first down. He tiptoes along the sideline to get both feet in at the TEN 43-yard line with 0:33 seconds. Von Miller comes up with a big sack on first down, forcing the Texans to use their final timeout with just 0:21 seconds left at their own 48-yard line. After a short to Jacob Tamme, Te and the FG unit rush onto the field to attempt a 61-yard FG as time expires. The kick is short and gets caught short by Mariani, who returns it only to about the 25-yard line at Halftime. Lots of action in the final 2:00 minutes of the half. The Titans open the 2nd half with the ball. On first down, Locker is looking for Kenny Britt but Johnathan Joseph jumps the route for an INT, returning it to the TEN 20-yard line. Facing 3rd and 5, Shaub's pass is broken up by Dre Kirkpatrick to setup a Te FG to cut the lead down to 1-point at 14-13 (TEN lead). The Titans offense, needing to respond after the Texans reeled off 10 unanswered points, takes the field again. A first down play-action to Jared Cook Jr. moves the offense out to the TEN 36-yard line. Locker connects again with Michael Floyd for a first down at the TEN 47-yard line. Locker finds Nate Washington on a big play down to the HOU 29-yard line. LT even shows a little burst on the drive by picking up the next first down on a sweep play to the right, down to the HOU 14-yard line. Locker hits Britt down to the HOU 5-yard line, but it would be Britt's last play of the game after suffering a right leg injury (Titans hope to get him back next week). On 3rd and 3 from the HOU 7-yard line, Locker throws incomplete looking for FB Ahmad Hall out of the backfield. Out comes Bironas for a FG to extend the lead to 17-13. The Texans would respond, and they would do it quickly. On first down, it is a draw play to Foster who picks up a few good blocks and is suddenly running in open field. He is finally rundown by Dre Kirkpatrick at the TEN 27-yard line. On next play, Shaub fakes the run the Foster, then hits him in the flats for a nice gain down to the TEN 13-yard line. On 3rd and 13, Shaub barely gets the pass off in the face of the blitz, but completes it short to Kevin Walter to setup a Te FG. The lead is back down to just 1 point at 17-16 TEN. After a quick 3-and-out for the Titans, the Texans take over again at the HOU 47-yard line to give the offense good field position for a possible lead-changing drive. On 2nd down, Shaub lobs one over the middle for Andre Johnson but it is picked by Korey Williams at the TEN 35-yard. Williams was able to adjust to the pass and jump in front of Johnson to get the pick because the ball was in the air so long (Williams out with cramps). Facing another quick 3rd and 4, Locker hits Michael Floyd out to the HOU 47-yard line. A roughing the passer on JJ Watt gives Titans 1st down at HOU 32-yard line. The Titans open the 4th quarter with 3rd and 1. Demps continues to run well, taking it up the middle and the chain gang measures for a 1st down. Facing 3rd and 8, JJ Watt gets called for another late hit (on an errant throw) and the Titans have 1st and Goal at the HOU 10-yard line. On 3rd and Goal at the HOU 5-yard line, Locker sees no one open so he scrambles up the middle for a TD, moving the lead to 24-16 TEN. Thanks JJ Watt. After one first down, the Texans drive stalls but the Titans are backed up to their own 11-yard line after a personal foul on the return. The Titans go 3-and-out and have to punt out of their own endzone. The Texans would take over at the TEN 46-yard line with 5:25 in 4th quarter. On 3rd and 3, the Houston O-line gets tagged for another false start to bring up 3rd and 8. The drive stalls after no gain on a screen pass to Andre Johnson, bringing up 4th down. The Titans start with the ball at the TEN 20-yard line with 3:35. Two Demps runs net a first down at 36-yard line. On 3rd and 1, LT even picks up a first down. Demps continued to be fed the ball as he continued to keep the clock running until the Texans ran out of timeouts. AFTERTHOUGHTS The Titans win it today with great defense and a solid running game. The offense finally cracked the 20-point mark after scoring a season-low (6 points) last week at New England. Jefferey Demps was huge today, showing great speed when the O-line was able to open some running lanes for him. He converted a few of the final 3rd downs that locked up the win for the Titans. Demps has solidified himself a spot as the starting halfback heading into next week. Michael Floyd provided another solid performance and some of the rookies are outshining some of the veterans. Floyd will not be moving up the depth chart though because Nate Washington continues to be solid and Kenny Britt is locked in at #1. On defense, rookie strong safety Tekerrein Cuba channeled his inner Troy Polamalu by flying around and making tackles all over the field. Although Arian Foster had a big day, the Titans defense stopped them when it mattered. A great effort to get back to the .500 mark at (3-3). On the flip side, the Texans move to (1-6) and appear to really be that bad. Though their roster isn't bad, they are plagued by penalties and just can't seem to get it together this year. Titans Game Ball: Jefferey Demps: 23 att for 116 yards, 1 rec for 5 yards Jake Locker certainly has a fair claim to the game ball as he accounted for all 3 offensive TD's and Jefferey Demps didn't score at all. Demps gets the game ball today for finally giving the Titans a legitimate rushing game. It is the first 100-yard rushing game from a Titans running back this season. Despite turning the ball over on his first carry of the game, he redeemed himself the rest of the way. With the game on the line, Demps was called on to keep the clock moving at the end of the game and he responded. Next Up...Week 7 action around the league |

Re: Sippin' the Haterade - A Tennessee Titans Franchise (M12)
JETS LOSE...BAD
Despite being injured last week and having to leave the game, Kenny Britt is back on the field this week. The game in New York is the first rain game of the year for the Titans. It is a cold, windy, rainy day. THE RUNDOWN Titans take the ball first because they have been good on first possessions. Locker would find Michael Floyd for a first down before having to punt a few plays later. Following a 3-and-out for the Jets on their opening possession, the Titans take over at the TEN 36-yard line. Jeff Demps had a good first carry, going 9 yards on a dive. On 3rd and 1, Demps picks up a first down out to the TEN 46-yard line. Demps continues to run well, moving the offense into Jets territory. On 3rd and 4, Locker finds Jared Cook Jr. on a drag down to the 27-yard line. On 2nd down, Locker hits Floyd for 1st and Goal at NYJ 4-yard line. From there, Locker would scan the field before checking down to FB Ahmad Hall in the flat for a TD, 7-0 TEN. The Jets offense responded with a quick 3-and-out. On the punt return, Marc Mariani tries to put a juke move on Chris Harris but Harris doesn't go for it and lays him out instead, forcing a fumble. Dre Kirkpatrick happens to be right there and jumps on the ball at the TEN 32-yard line. After a screen pass and short run, both to Demps, the Titans have a first down at the TEN 46-yard line. On first down, Locker finds Nate Washington over the middle, who evades Bart Scott for his first catch, stretching it to a 28-yard gain with his speed to the NYJ 26-yard line. On 3rd and 8, Locker hits Damian Williams on an out route along the sideline for a first down at the NYJ 11-yard line. On 3rd and 6, Locker finds Jared Cook Jr on a short curl in the endzone for a TD, 14-0! The Tennessee offense looks as in sync as they have all season. Now down by 14, the Jets offense takes the field looking for anything. On 3rd and 4, Shonn Greene picks up a first down to the TEN 25-yard line. On 3rd and 11, Sanchez finds Dustin Keller for first down to the NYJ 41-yard line. On 3rd and 3, Shonn Greene picks up 1st down to the TEN 47-yard line. On 3rd and 3, Greene get stopped short. Ruffer attempts a 55-yard FG with 10mph of sideways wind. The wind pushes the ball just left, as he misses from the left hash mark. The Titans would take over with great field position, but go 3-and-out. The Jets start at own 20 with 2:43 left in half. On 2nd down, Pierre Garcon beats Dre Kirkpatrick and Sanchez launches one deep down the left sideline for a 46-yard gain into Titans territory at TEN 30-yard line at the 2-minute warning. A few plays later, Sanchez underthrows Santonio Holmes on a slant and Alterraun Verner steps up to make an INT at the TEN 24-yard line with 1:30. Locker hits Michael Floyd out to the TEN 36-yard line for a first down. Lcoker then finds Kenny Britt to the TEN 48-yard line. After a sack, Locker goes to Britt again, this time down to the NYJ 36-yard line with 0:25 seconds. Michael Floyd beats his man and Locker finds him at the NYJ 14-yard line with with 0:19 seconds, timeout #1 Titans. Next play, Locker checks down to Demps in the flat. He looks like he got hit out of bounds but the ref says no, forcing the Titans to use timeout #2 at NYJ 12-yard line with 0:12 seconds. Locker hits Nate Washington to the NYJ 7-yard line with 0:06 seconds, timeout #3 Titans. With a big lead and no more timeouts left, the Titans elect to bring out Bironas for the safe points and extend the lead to 17 points at Halftime. The Jets get the ball first following an awful first half on offense. On 3rd and 7, Sanchez find Holmes out to NYJ 39-yard line. A few plays later, Sanchez finds Dustin Keller on a crossing route, who then breaks Tekerrein Cuba's tackle and turns it into a big gain down to the TEN 23-yard line. On first down, Sanchez tries to scramble away from Akeem Ayers but runs into Darius Nall on the other side. They both sandwich Mark Sanchez, causing a fumble that is recovered by the offensive lineman Hudson. After a short completion and a false start, Ruffer comes on to attempt a 52-yard FG, this time missing right from the right hashmark. Titans take over at TEN 42-yard line following the missed FG. However, they cannot capitalize and go 3-and-out. The Jets get the ball back but also go 3-and-out. The Jets punt set up a Titans drive beginning at the TEN 48-yard line. On 3rd and 8, Locker goes to Floyd along sideline through the zone coverage, down to the NYJ 34-yard line. From there, Locker gets sacked back to the 39-yard line and on 3rd and 16, Locker finds Britt over the middle to setup a Bironas 48-yard FG attempt. The 10mph wind gets a hold of Bironas' kick as it sails barely left and he misses it. He is feeling the pain of Jets kicker Ruffer. A pathetic Jets offense would get the ball back and go 3-and-out yet again. The Titans got the ball to start with 4th quarter but would also go 3-and-out, bringing out Kern for a punt. On the punt return, T.Y. Hilton doesn't call for a fair catch despite having no blockers and two defenders running full speed straight towards him. As soon as he fields the punt, he is hit by Tommie Campbell and fumbles, picked up by Brandon Burton of the Titans and returned down to the NYJ 17-yard line. On 3rd and Long, Locker thinks he has Britt open on a post route but Pool undercuts the route and intercepts the ball at the 1-yard line before returning it out to the NYJ 8-yard line. The Titans squander a golden opportunity to score points. They have been awful in the second half converting anything. Almost as bad as the Jets.. The Jets would get 1 first down before punting again. The Titans would do the same on their possession. Beginning to run out of time, the Jets start a drive in their own territory with about 4 minutes left. The invisible offense goes 3-and-out again, giving the Titans the ball back. On 3rd and 4, Jamie Harper goes up the middle and Chris Harris delivers another big blow that forces a fumble. Ahmad Hall recovers it at the Titans 31-yard line and the Jets miss out on an opportunity for a turnover in Tennessee territory. The Jets began their final drive at their own 31-yard line with only 1:16 left. While in the hurry up offense, Sanchez overthrows a pass and Robert Johnson gets the INT to seal the game for the Titans. AFTERTHOUGHTS Chris Harris only had 2 tackles but they were both huge, literally, as he forced 2 fumbles in the game. The Jets are the only team to get shutout in any game of the season. Mark Sanchez was awful. The offensive line was without LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson and no one stepped up. The rainy, windy day was a problem for both kicker as we saw 3 missed FG's in the game. The Titans offense was firing on all cylinders in the first half, but Rex Ryan must have given one hell of a halftime speech because the Jets defense was lights out in the second half. Even when the Titans began a drive at the NYJ 17-yard line, the defense came up with a turnover to prevent any points. Jeff Demps didn't have quite the game he had last week against the (1-6) Texans. The Titans defense continues play great team defense. Everyone seems to get in on the action. Shonn Greene was one broken tackle away from a big gain on many plays, but the Titans defenders made those plays. The win will move the team to (4-3) and it is the first time they have been over .500 all season. Titans Game Ball: Titans Defense: 0 Points Allowed, 2 Sacks, 2 INTs Next up, Scores from around the NFL in Week 8 and League Leaders. |
