ULM 2011 Offensive Preview

QB Kolton Browning is looking to lead the team, as he is the best player and is only a sophmore!

Well, Folks. It is that time of year again. ULM getting overlooked by LSU, and struggling to compete with other Louisiana squads. Aside from that, it's football time in Monroe! The Warhawks are looking for a strong season this year, in hopes of bringing home a Sun Belt title for the first time since 2005, which has been their only championship down here. They might even make it to their first ever bowl game! We can only hope...

Anyways, lets get going on previewing ULM's offense for the season. Of course we must start with sophomore signal-caller Kolton Browning. The kid is a beast for a Sun Belt QB, so expect big things out of him. For three more years, actually... Not much depth behind him, so we need to make sure he stays healthy. The starting tailback this season will be sophomore Jyruss Edwards. Behind him, a freshman potential-full Devontae McNeal. Already we are looking at a young, talented team. The wide revievers aren't awful, led by senior Luther Ambrose.

On the line, we are fairly strong. senior center Ryan McCaul is probably the best in the Sun Belt, and he will lead the rather average Warhawk Line. At tight end, junior Keavon Milton will be a sure target for Browning, although he isn't the best they could get.

All in all, a pretty talented offense for a Sun Belt team, and it should be a fun season to watch.

ULM 2011 Defensive Preview



Senior Linebacker Jason Edwards will be the defensive captain for the Warhawks.

After getting through the offensive preview, I'm whipped. I will try to make it through this defensive preview, which will not have as many bright spots-- and I'm not talking about the article. The depth of this defensive unit throws some red flags. Recruiting will have to be very good this season, as most the decent players are graduating.

The ULM 3-3-5 defense has been known for stopping the run, and thats what they plan to do this season. Jason Edwards is most likely the best player on the defensive unit, and you can never have a good enough linebacker. It seems that every starter is a senior, and their backups aren't very great, IF they aren't graduating as well.

If defense wins championships, then ULM better get in gear for a champions, as well as championships in the future.
