Re: A new look for the Panthers - Madden 12

Changes after being the worst team in the NFL.

When you are the worst team in the league, having 2 wins less than the 2nd worst, it means that changes need to be made.

The Panthers started selecting QB Cam Newton, out of the university of Auburn, at 1st overall. But after this, the draft didn't went well for the Panthers. They traded this year 2nd round pick to New England for their 3rd in the past year, which they used to select WR Armanti Edwards, who has underachieved mightly, and didn't even made the team roster out of training camp this year, the same with DTs Terrell McLain and Sione Fua. They have been that bad in pre-season, that none team even put a claim on them.

But the team made some moves, that can benefit the team in the future.
Getting involved in the 2 blockbuster trades of the off-season, the team want to get younger, and fix their defense.

Seattle receives: RB DeAngelo Williams, SS Charles Godfrey
Carolina receives: FS Earl Thomas, SS Kam Chancellor(edited his ratings, now a 83 B potential) and a 2013 1st round pick.

    Cleveland receives: WR Steve Smith
Carolina receives: NT Athyba Rubin, DE Jabaal Sheard, and a 2013 1st giving the team 3 1st round picks in the round, which they probable will use to trade up in the 2012 draft.

Though the draft was bad, the team used the advantage of being the worst team in the NFL to claim lots of players, that can bring lots of depth, and eventualy be starters.

            Panthers projections

AP reporter Steve Reed, who works for the three Charlotte teams, is making his projections for this season.

            Team record: 5-11

            Cam stats:
            15 TD, 15 INT, 55% comp. 5 rush TDs

            J-Stew stats:
I really believe he can become one of the better RBs in the NFL. I expect around 1300 yards rushing, and 50 receptions.

            Our WRs:
Don't expect much. Gettis around 800 yards, LaFell around 600. Cruz can be a good surprise.

            Shockey: Around 50 receptions.

Defense: Expect them to be around 15-20 in the league.

Charles Johnson: Entering contract year, expect him to keep his numbers from past season, and maybe improve.

Rubin, Klug and the Interior Line: Rubin has proved to be a good run stopper in Cleveland. Johnson played well for the Colts before some problems with marijuana. He promised stopping smoking, and we trust him. Klug will be used most for depth, but can make a noise.

LBs: Don't need to say nothing, best core on the team.

CBs: Probable the biggest changes on the team. Richard Marshall was traded to the Texans and Captain Munnerlyn to the Vikings. The team bring in Lardarius Webb, Brandon Hogan and Richard Sherman. The only thing to say here is that history will be made.

Chancellor and Thomas: Kam is a hard-hitter, and we expect him to keep his play like this. He can be a really intimidating player and we would love to see this happen. Earl had an amazing rookie season, being one of the best coverage safeties in football.

              Road win gives team hopes

We can't seay that the win was totally unexpected, but it is always started fresh, especially after a 2-14 season.

Cam had a solid game, with no interceptions, 200 yards passing, and 73 rushing, but it was two guys who stole the show.

RB Jonathan Stewart played up to expectations with 130 yards rushing and 94 on 8 receptions.

K John Kasay went 5-5, needless to say.

Cardinals QB Derek Anderson left the game in the 2nd quarter after a late hit from DT Ed Johnson. He is expected to be out for 3 weeks, and Johnson was fined $30,000 by the NFL.

                Game Notes
We probable have seen what the Packers is without superstar QB Aaron Rogers, in the maximum a normal team. Matt Flynn left in the 1st quarter and Graham Harrell threw 2 interceptions. They were embarassed 34-3 at home by the New Orleans Saints.

The Panthers started with a solid, but expected, road win against the Derek Anderson led Arizona Cardinals.

The weather is expected to be a factor in the game, with 80% chance of rain, and winds up to 15 mph. Expect a huge day for Jonathan Stewart. Ryan Grant and James Starks will need to do better for the Packers.

Prediction: Packers 13 at 10 Panthers.
Though the Panthers won in the week 1 and the Packers got embarassed, they are cleary the better team, winning the Super Bowl as the Panthers finished dead last. Even without Aaron Rodgers, they are the better team. Expect a close game, but with a Packers win.

Hey man, looks good. I am also doing a Carolina Panthers franchise.. good luck to you! I like that trade you made with Seattle, I might have to do something like that, can't stand our safeties.

                      thank.
Godfrey is good, but Martin is a total liability. Kam can be the next Sean Taylor(hitting skills) and Thomas is a bet to led the NFL in interceptions, one of the better coverage safeties.
There was no need to continue the double trouble, J-Stew is capable of carring the workload.

Stewart, Kasay lead Panthers in ugly win over Packers.

                        Carolina Panthers (2-0)770317

With really bad field condition due to heavy rain falling at Bank of America Stadium, the Panthers upset the Super Bowl winner Green Bay Packers to start the season 2-0, matching their last season record.

Jonathan Stewart had 159 rushing yards on 35 carries, a TD, and 5 receptions as John Kasay nailed a last second 33 yard Field Goal to win the game.
Rookie Cam Newton had a bad day, particulary due to drops and bad field conditions, going 12/27, 117 yards, and an INT. The Panthers other TD was scored by Mike Goodson

For the Packers, Ryan Grant had 149 yards, but due to Matt Flynn turnover, it wasn't sufficient for the team win. In their three red zone oportunities, all ended just in Field Goals. The team lone TD was on a deep pass to Greg Jennings.

Flynn was intercepted by Earl Thomas early in the game, the Panthers did well scoring a touchdown off the turnover. With 5 minutes left in the game, having the opportunity to score a FG and take the lead, Jon Beason intercepted Flynn. But in the next play, Nick Collins intercepted Newton, leading to a FG.

Before the 2 minute warning, Stewart broke a B.J. Raji tackle and converted a 4&2. Newton pass to Victor Cruz put the Panthers in position to kick the GWFG.

A inusitated fact happened in the 3rd quarter. Packers LB Clay Matthews was flagged for a holding penalty on his brother Casey Matthews.

Panthers LB Jon Beason has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for a late hit on Packers WR Randall Cobb.
DE Charles Johnson has been fined for a roughing the passer on Flynn. On the play, rookie Richard Sherman intercepted the ball and took it tho the house, but the penalty nullflied the TD.

The Panthers has matched last years win number, as the reigning champions Packers has started 0-2. And there is another game, on road against the Chicago Bears, with Flynn. Expect the Packers to go 0-3.

On the division, the Panthers and the Falcons are 2-0. The Saints humiliated the Packers on road, but got defeated on a close one by the Bears, sitting at 1-1. The Buccaneers 2010 season appeared to be a fluke, as they are 0-2, with losses to the Lions and the Vikings.

Two teams in exact different moments.

The Panthers is 2-0 after upsetting the Packers, and the Jaguars lost a close one to the Titans, and got routed by the Jets.

Weather for the game is expected to be sunny, windy and temperature around 70º degrees. Due to the high temperature, the Panthers will wear their white jersey, like they did against the Packers and will do against the Saints in week 5.

The top matchup envolves two of the best RBs in the NFL, Jonathan Stewart and Maurice Jones-Drew. Quarterbacks Cam Newton and David Garrard both have a cold start to the seasn, lets see if it change Sunday.

The Panthers defense has allowed just 33 points in two games, against offenses comparable to the Jaguars, who has allowed 61 so far.

Prediction: Panthers 20 vs 6 Jaguars.

Cam scores 4 TDs as Panthers rolls over Jaguars.

The ones who called Cam Newton a dissapointment after his first two career games, probable have changes their options. He threw for 3 TDs, and ran for another one, while don't commiting any turnover, as the Panthers won an easy one against the Jaguars and get to an unexpected 3-0 start, already leading the division by 2 games.

Jonathan Stewart had another great day, not surpassing 100 yards rushing, but proving to be the next Brian Westbrook, with great help to the rushing and blocking game, who has been a disapointment so far, with Jordan Gross allowing a sack in each game and rookie Lee Ziemba allowing a sack and two holding penalties. Jeff Otah is certainly being missed, when on the field he is an amazing player, but he is being too injury prone, what means that the Panthers probable will look at a Tackle yearly in next year's draft.

Talking about injury prone, what about Thomas Davis? A really intimidating player when on the field, he can't be there anymore. Will miss at least 4 weeks with a foot injury. Navorro Bowman and Casey Matthews will split snaps as Panthers will face other undefeated team, the Bears, next week.

Surprisingly, there was only a fine, though both teams had 100+ penalty yards, great part in late hits and facemask.
Panthers NT Athyba Rubin was fined $15,000 for a late hit on Jaguars QB David Garrard.

Falcons coach Mike Smith criticzed Panthers style of play, calling the Panthers the dirtiest team in the NFL, and that Falcons players will be wary of this to avoid injuries.

Panthers SS Kam Chancellor said that Smith should look to his team, that he wouldn't mind fightning some Falcons players.

LB James Anderson says the Falcons has a good team, but in with a 1-2 record because they are playing way too soft, taking big hits, and the defense doesn't stick up for the offense. Anderson, a big hockey fan, compared the Falcons to the Sedins "sisters', for getting "bullied" and becoming "cowards". Rookie WR Julio Jones was carted off unconcious after a hit by Buccaneers LB Barrett Ruud on Sunday, and the Falcons just took it like it was normal. Expect teams to take runs at them with this way of play. Ruud only "retalation" received was getting fined $30,000 by the NFL. Panthers NT Athyba Rubin said that this kind of thing will never happen with the Panthers.

After this, Mike Smith adopted the Bill Bellichik style and asked his players to don't asnwer to Panthers players comments. Ron Rivera stated that when his team is winning, they can talk all they want.

Look for a fun week 6 matchup.

                              Game Notes
Before the season, noboby predicted that two of the undefeated teams by week 4 would be the Panthers and the Bears.

The Panthers was the worst team in the NFL last season, and the Bears started with a very difficult schedule. With this record, look for them to be a super bowl contender.

Weather is just expect to have non effect on the game.

Prediction: Bears 31 vs 14 Panthers
Look for the magic ending for the Panthers, as they have the most difficult schedule in the NFL from now to the end of the season.
