CENTRAL MICHIGAN GRABS MAC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Chippewas outlasted the Ohio Bobcats, 16-7.
Dec. 3, Detroit MI – Central Michigan was crowned MAC Champions as the Chippewas struck hard when they needed most. Central Michigan battled Ohio down to the wire and escaped with a 16-7 victory in front of a capacity crowd at the Ford Field. Sophomore

The Chippewas were comfortably ahead 9-0 going in the 4 minutes of the game after 3 field goals by
Paul Mudgett. Mudgett could have put the game out of reach but he missed 2 crucial field goals allowing the Bobcats to prowl within striking distance. Ohio's star quarterback
Boo Jackson, who was hampered by the Central Michigan all throughout, finally threw one good pass, a long 73-yard pass to senior
Terrence McCrae for a touchdown, to put Ohio a field goal down, 9-7, with time down to 3:48.

Paris Cotton right in the end zone to give the Bobcats the chance to take the lead and put the game in a exciting finish. However, the Central Michigan defense stood ground and stopped Ohio on a 3-and-out. With the game winding down Phillips then broke the backs and the hearts of the Bobcats with a scintillating run t the end zone. Jackson had one last opportunity to turn the game around but blew it as his pass when straight to the hands of a jumping
Taylor Bradley for an interception. For all his defensive efforts, Bradley, who also sacked Jackson, was named the “Performer of the Game”.

Meanwhile, the
Florida (8-5) defeated
Alabama (12-1), 23-20, in overtime to capture the SEC Championship and knock the Crimson Tide out of the BCS Championship and dropped them to No. 5. Undefeated team will vie for College Football’s most prestigious prize.
Wisconsin (11-0) assumed No.1 ranking and will meet No. 2
Stanford (12-0) for the National Championship while No. 3
Boise State (12-0) and No. 4
TCU (12-0) will fight it out at the Rose Bowl.
