WEEK 11

DULL GAME MARS SEATTLE’S WIN OVER ST. LOUIS
Seahawks edges the Rams in OT, 15-12

Nov. 20, St. Louis MO – The Seattle defense held forth for the second consecutive game limiting its opponent with no touchdowns, but the Seahawks could not get one too. It took Steven Hauschka to deliver the goods once again, a 38-yard field goal to tie the game with 15 seconds left and a shot 24 yarder to win it for the visiting team. The Rams superstar running back Steven Jackson was the only bright light in offense with 160 yards in 27 carries but he too could not get near the end zone. The Seahawks go back home and play hosts to the Washington Redskins (4-6) on November 27.

Meanwhile, starter Kam Chancellor broke a collarbone and will not return for the rest of the season. Rookie Ron Parker of Newberry College is shifted from corner to safety and will play behind another rookie Jeron Johnson of Boise State. Lastly, there is a newbie in town, speedy 6'4 wide receiver from La Salle Justin Meadows. The undrafted free agent from Philadelphia PA will play standby just in case injury-prone Sidney Rice goes out.

WEEK 12

SEATTLE GETS IT ALTOGETHER WITH A WASHINGTON ROUT, 37-3
Seahawks move on top of NFC West

Nov. 27, Seattle WA – The Seattle Seahawks blasted the Washington Redskins, 37-3, in a rainy Thanksgiving celebration at the wet and slippery Qwest Field. With the victory and San Francisco’s stunning loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Seattle moved on top of NFC West for the first time this season. In the other divisional game, the Arizona Cardinals surprised the St. Louis Rams, 20-13, with a scintillating 17-tackle performance by veteran Clark Haggans.

Halfback Leon Washington broke a 3-all tie with a short 1-yard run late in the first half to start the Seahawks onslaught. Marshawn Lynch, who ran for 107 yards in 27 carries, broke away with an 11-yard run touchdown then Tarvaris Jackson found John Carlson in a slide at the end zone for another touchdown to give the Seahawks an insurmountable lead, 27-3. Washington, who won “Performer of the Game” honors, clinched it for the home crowd with an 11-yard run for his 2nd touchdown. But credit went to the Seahawks defense as the Redskins became the 3rd consecutive team that failed to score a touchdown against Seattle. The Washington offense was limited to 256 yards and was almost beaten by the 236 yards in 29 passes by Jackson. The Seahawks will remain at home and play host to Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles on December 1.

WEEK 13

SEATTLE SPOILS THE MICHAEL VICK SHOW
Seahawks defeated the Eagles in OT, 41-38

Dec. 1, Seattle WA – Seattle held on for another overtime escape act to nip past Philadelphia in an action-packed thriller at the Qwest Field, 41-38. This was the 4th time the Seahawks have been extended this season, winning 3 of them. With this 4th straight victory, the Seahawks are on a roll but the San Francisco 49ers is still within a game behind. San Francisco routed the faltering St. Louis Rams at home, 28-14. Seattle (8-4) will next play the Rams (5-6-1) at home on December 12 and before that the 49ers (7-5) visit the Arizona Cardinals (5-7).

Tarvaris Jackson heaved a long 65-yard pass to Mike Williams setting up Steven Hauschka for a 25-yard field goal for the win. But before that, it was a Michael Vick show. Vick put the game in overtime with a short 8-yard touchdown pass to tight end Brent Celek with 11 seconds left. It was Vick’s 3rd touchdown pass in the game. Vick went to work early with a short 1-yarder to Owen Schmitt to put the Eagles on top and stunned the Seahawks, who have not given out a touchdown in their last 3 games. After Jackson retaliated with his own 5-yarder to Sidney Rice and back-to-back TD runs by halfbacks LeSean McCoy and Leon Washington, Vick struck back with a long 86-yard pass to Jeremy Maclin to put Philadelphia back on top at 21-14. Alex Henery and Hauschka traded field goals to end the half at 24-17 for the Eagles. Jackson then found Washington in the end zone to end the 3rd quarter tied at 21-all. Vick responded with a scrambling 7-yard touchdown run to regain the lead for the Eagles. Not to be outdone, Marshawn Lynch produced his own show with back-to-back runs in the end zone to put the Seahawks on top with time down to 1:31.

Meanwhile, Seattle released rookie John Portis and signed up 2011 undrafted free agent and college standout Terrelle Pryor of Ohio State with plans of resigning him for next season to strengthen its future QB lineup.

WEEK 14

SEATTLE PUMMELS ST. LOUIS INTO SUBMISSION
Seahawks too much for the Rams at home, 45-17

Dec. 12, Seattle WA – The Seattle Seahawks scored 6 touchdowns, the most this season, to rout the St. Louis Rams, 45-17. Five of the TDs came from runs, 2 apiece by running backs Marshawn Lynch and Leon Washington and an 8-yard scramble by Tarvaris Jackson, his first this season. The Seahawks were productive from both offense and defense. Defensive end Chris Clemons dimmed the daylights of Sam Bradford with 3 sacks while rookie defensive backs made it worse. Boise State’s Jeron Johnson intercepted 2 passes and Newberry College’s Ron Parker had one. Another rookie Adrian Moten, the linebacker from Maryland, stole another pass right above the Rams end zone.

However, another rookie may not be comfortable. Stanford wide receiver Doug Baldwin is back from injury but he sees his role being covered by speedy Golden Tate, who had 110 yards catching and scored the lone pass TD from Jackson. In the battle of halfback stars, Lynch outran Stephen Jackson with 188 yards in 25 carries plus the 2 touchdowns.

The blowout gave the 12th man the opportunity to watch new signing Terrelle Pryor of Ohio State in action. Pryor was sent in with 54 seconds left and handed 2 inside passes to Justin Forsett.

The Seahawks travel to Illinois and will play the NFC-North leading Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on December 18. A victory and another loss by the San Francisco 49ers will clinch for the Seahawks the NFC- West division title. Earlier, the Arizona Cardinals upset the 49ers, 24-14, at home, the result of which lifted the pressure off Seattle in their evening game against the Rams. That game gave the Seahawks its 5th consecutive victory and the 4th straight setback for the slumping Rams.
