SEATTLE DROPS SEASON OPENER IN MINNESOTA, 12-30
Seahawks unable to get to the endzone against the Vikings

Sept. 7, Minneapolis MN – The Seattle Seahawks dropped their season opener against the Minnesota Vikings, 30-12, at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis. Tarvaris Jackson was 73% and passed for 242 yards but could not find anyone at the endzone. Four times the Seahawks came close but the Vikings defense stood their ground. The Minnesota offense was conservative but Joe Wells found Devier Posey outpacing the Seattle secondary late in the second quarter for a 47-yard touchdown pass.

Adrian Peterson outran Marshawn Lynch with 171 yards in 27 carries but it was Wells who scrambled twice from the 1-yard line to score 2 more touchdowns. The Minnesota defense was pesky as was Kevin Williams who sacked Jackson twice. Brandon Mebane likewise knocked Wells down twice but the Seattle offense was hurt with 4 turnovers, twice by a fumbling Earl Washington and a loose ball and an interception from Jackson.

The Seahawks make their season debut at the Qwest Field on September 16 against NFC West rivals the San Francisco 49ers, 36-21 opening-day winners over the Green Bay Packers.

SEATTLE BOUNCES BACK, ROUTS SAN FRANCISCO, 31-3
Seahawks defense catches the 49ers napping

Sept. 16, Seattle WA – The Seattle Seahawks came back after an opening loss and routed the visiting San Francisco 49ers, 31-3, in a display of top-notch defense. 49er Alex Smith passed for 227 yards but was intercepted 4 times, once by Brandon Browner en route to a 21-yard touchdown and twice by Marcus Trufant. Smith completed 26 passes but only one came close to a field goal and that was early in the first quarter.

Tarvaris Jackson was 9 of 20 but found a speeding Kris Durham late in the first for a 55-yard TD then a 37-yarder to Marshawn Lynch late in the third to give the Seahawks an insurmountable lead. Lynch, who outplayed Frank Gore, ran for 75 yards in 23 carries including a short 6-yd TD run to the end zone.

The Seahawks will be at the Qwest Field again this time with the winless Detroit Lions, led by QB Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson Jr. and rough-housing Ndamukong Suh, on September 23.

Re: The 12th Man Dynasty: Seattle Seahawks (Madden NFL 12)

SEATTLE COMES FROM BEHIND TO BEAT DETROIT, 24-14
Defense winning it for the Seahawks

Sept. 23, Seattle WA – The Seattle Seahawks came alive in the fourth quarter with a sterling defense to come from behind the Detroit Lions, 24-14, at the Qwest Field. K.J. Wright stole a Matthew Stafford pass at the start of the final quarter for a 65-yard touchdown return to give the Seahawks the lead for good. It was a return favor as Seattle quarterback Tarvaris Jackson also was intercepted in the first quarter by Chris Houston en route to a touchdown. After the Wright touchdown, Jackson set up a 2-point play for 17-14. Five minutes later, Jackson, who had only completed 6 passes at that time, found a slanting Sidney Rice for a one-handed catch inside the end zone for a 24-14 count time down to 7 minutes.

Detroit was not finished though. Stafford made a strong drive with 5 straight 1st downs culminating with a scrambling run to move the Lions to the Seahawks' 3-yard line with 3:58 remaining. An offside penalty pulled them 5 yards off but Calvin Johnson Jr. caught a short pass within 2 yards of a touchdown. After a timeout, the Seahawks applied the blitz and prevented the comeback as Stafford hurriedly threw a pass to Jahvid Best which he caught but could not control. Seattle starter Brandon Browner picked up the fumble and sealed the win for the Seahawks. It was an unforgettable afternoon for both Stafford and Jackson as both quarterbacks were sacked a total 13 times, led by Detroit's Ndamukong Sun with 4.

The Seahawks (2-1) travel to Glendale AZ for a meeting with the Arizona Cardinals led by rookie QB Brandon Weeden and Larry Fitzgerald at the University of Phoenix Stadium on October 1.

Re: The 12th Man Dynasty: Seattle Seahawks (Madden NFL 12)

ARIZONA DEFENSE FRUSTRATES SEATTLE
Seahawks couldn’t find the end zone and lose, 9-19

Oct 1., Glendale AZ – Rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden proved he is ready in the big league by passing 317 yards and outplaying Tarvaris Jackson. The #4 draft pick out of Oklahoma State completed 27 of 46 passes with one touchdown and led the Arizona Cardinals (3-1) to victory at home against the hapless Seattle Seahawks. Weeden found Larry Fitzgerald early in the first quarter for a 3-yard touchdown to put the Cardinals on the lead for good. It was the Weeden-Fitzgerald tandem that shattered the smothering Seattle defense with Fitzgerald finishing with 8 receptions for 172 yards. In contrast, Jackson could not even get over a hundred. Seattle Coach Pete Carroll is now in deep thinking whether to keep his quarterback for long, Jackson has passed for only 129 yards the last 2 games. The Seahawks lackadaisical offense stymied Marshawn Lynch who finally got going with 119 yards in 28 carries.

Still the Seahawks had one last chance with 1:30 left in the game. Jackson, who led a fourth quarter comeback against the Detroit Lions last week, found Doug Baldwin twice then scrambled to move Seattle within 30 yards from the Cardinal goal. Sidney Rice caught a Jackson pass on the next play at the 4-yard line but the review booth decided an out of bounds catch. On 4th down, Jackson heaved a pass to Kris Durham inside the end zone but went uncompleted.

The Seahawks (2-2) next meet the New York Jets (3-1) at the Qwest Field on October 7. The Jets will be led by Mark Sanchez, Darrelle Revis and Nick Mangold. With Sanchez also on a cold streak, who between him and Jackson will get out of the rut first. In the NFC West, the San Francisco 49ers (3-1) will play host to the Cardinals for the division lead while the Saint Louis Rams (1-3) try to get back on track after 3 consecutive losses and play the Minnesota Vikings (2-2) in Minneapolis.

Re: The 12th Man Dynasty: Seattle Seahawks (Madden NFL 12)

SEAHAWKS LEAVE THE JETS BEHIND, 37-25
Seattle offense blasts New York in torrid first half

Oct. 7, Seattle WA –Seattle started like a house on fire and never let up as the Seahawks trample the New York Giants at home, 37-25. The Seahawks were at their best jumping to an insurmountable 31-0 lead going to the last minute of the first half. Marshawn Lnych had 100 yards at the end of the first half alone and Tarvaris Jackson passed his 2-game output of 129 yards midway in the second quarter.

The Seahawks defense triggered the rout after Alan Branch broke New York’s initial 9-play drive to the 10-yard line with a hit on Giants halfback Shonn Greene for a fumble. In the ensuing series, Lynch broke away with a scintillating 79-yard run touchdown to start the scoring. Jeron Johnson stole a Mark Sanchez pass that set up a 61-yard touchdown reception by Sidney Rice from Jackson. In the second quarter, Jackson and Lynch added more to the first half blowout with an almost identical 5-yard runs to the end zone. Towards the end of the half, Sanchez finally found Plaxico Burress at the 12-yard line to stop the Seahawks run. Jackson, who was in the media pressure-cooker the whole week, somewhat exorcised himself with 246 yards and 1 TD in 24 attempts while Lynch ran for 181 yards with 2 TDs in 29 carries.

The Seahawks (3-2) next meet last year’s Super Bowl finalist the Atlanta Falcons (1-4) at the Georgia Dome on October 14. Matt Ryan and Roddy White hope to get the Falcons out of the slump after an unenviable 0-4 start.

Meanwhile, Seattle's list of injured players is piling as starters David Hawthorne and Kam Chancellor, broken collarbone (5 weeks) and ribs (2 weeks) respectively, join that list. With both Hawthorne and David Vobora (since the season opener with herniated disk) out, #1 draft pick Keenan Robinson of Texas will start at middle linebacker for the first time in his young career. Sophomore Jeron Johnson, who is on a hot streak, will start as strong safety in lieu of Chancellor.
