Kiper's Top 5 RB's

*Each week I will be giving a preview of the top 5 players at each position in the upcoming class

1.) Daniel Thomas 6'2" 228 lbs (Kansas State)
- Thomas exploded onto the national scene in 2009 where he was voted Big 12 Newcomer of the Year after putting up 1200 yds 11 TDs. Thomas followed it with another outstanding campaign in 2010. Thomas is one of 2 RB's projected to land in the first round with Thomas being a possible top 10 pick. He brings a very physical style of football with his biggest knock being his lack of elite break away speed. However in the NFL coaches would rather have someone pound the ball 30 times then be able to win a track race. Thomas will be an upgrade for any team needing a RB this offseason

2.) Chris Polk 5'11" 214 lbs (Washington)
- The other projected first rounder, Chris Polk brings a very versatile game to the NFL. He is around the perfect size of an NFL tailback being 5'11' but with plenty of bulk and speed. There are some concerns about his running style as he run very upright and like Thomas lack that elite pull away speed but Polk is another physical back that should provide quality years for whoever lands him

3) DeMarco Murray 6'1" 207 lbs (Oklahoma)
- Murray is the perfect example of a do it all back. He has great speed, is a physical runner, and has the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He could be a later 1st round pick but don't be surprised if he falls to the early 2nd round as many GMs are cautious about spending a first round pick on a tailback when so many quality guys can be found in later rounds

4.) Roy Helu 6'0" 220 lbs (Nebraska)
- It is a Big 12 heavy runningback class and Helu continues that trend. In his final season at Nebraska Helu had multiple 200+ yd games. He is a perfect size for a tailback and he is guaranteed to get the yards that is available. Give him a hole and he will get you a first down. However what concerns scouts his lack of breaking tackle ability and durability questions which is why Helu might have to wait till round 2 or even 3 for his name to be called.

5.) Evan Royster 6'1" 228 lbs (Penn State)
- Royster was the definition of consistent at Penn State as he put together an outstanding career for the Nittany Lions. A lot of scouts have said that he already looks like an NFL back especially considering the number of carries he already has in his career through high school and college. There is worry that those high numbers mean a shorter NFL career but we will see. Royster is sure to provide some quality depth in a 2 back league. Look for Royster to go somewhere in the 3rd maybe 4th

Game Notes
Andy Reid's Eagles are coming off a disappointing loss in Detroit 29-21 where their running game struggled mightily. Now they travel to face the surprising Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags absolutely dominated the 2nd half of last week's matchup against the San Diego Chargers. The Jacksonville front office is hoping for a better turn out this week in a game that should be very entertaining to see

Series Record: 3-1 Jaguars

Jags Clip Eagles Wings With Big 4th Qtr

It was another poor turnout for the home Jaguars and the first half play was just as poor. The Eagles' Kevin Kolb ripped up the Jags secondary on the way to a 21-10 Philadelphia lead at the half. LeSean McCoy got the scoring going with a 4 yd TD run early in the 4th. After a Scobee 44 yd FG, the Eagles scored back to back TDs on passes from Kolb. First he found Brent Celek for 8 yds just as the second quarter got started. Then he found McCoy out of the backfield for a 22 yd TD score. It wasn't until late in the 2nd quarter that the Jacksonville's offense found their groove leading to a 1 yd David Garrard QB sneak with 8 seconds left in the half to give the Jags their first TD of the day.

The 3rd quarter was quiet as Philadelphia's hot offense suddenly went ice cold. Fumbles and penalties killed multiple Eagle drives. However the Jaguars could only kick two FGs and the Eagles still had a 21-16 lead heading into the final period. The quarter started with a 4 yd TD run by 3rd string tailback Eldra Buckley, his only carry of the game, to give the Eagles a 28-16 lead. But from that point on it was all Jags as Maurice Jones-Drew and Greg Jones took over the game. Garrard also settled in nicely throwing 9 straight completions. The Jags struck back first with a 3 yd TD run by Jones-Drew with 6:32 left in the 4th. The Eagles went 3 and out on their next drive and the Jags made em pay on the very first play of the following drive. Garrard hit Jones on the play action pass out of the backfield who then broke a tackle and rumbled down the field for 49 yds. Now Jacksonville had their first lead of the game up 31-27. The Eagles attempted to put together a comeback drive but back to back sacks by Alualu and Harvey killed the drive. Jones-Drew then put an exclamation point on the comeback with a 50 yd run to put the final at 38-27 Jaguars

Mike Sims-Walker Wants the Ball

The Jaguars may be 3-0 to start the season but their #1 wideout isn't happy. "I want the ball. Plain and simple," Sims-Walkers said after Thursday's practice. "It's awesome we are undefeated but we aren't gonna stay that way if I don't get the ball." Through the first 3 games Sims-Walker is 5th on the team with only 5 cartches and 3rd with 115 yds. He does have one of the two TD receptions this year. TE Marcedes Lewis, HB Maurice Jones-Drew, and surprisingly FB Greg Jones have all been featured more in the passing game than Sims-Walker. "I feel like I am just taking up space out there." The 4th year WR out of UCF is in a contract year so if the pace doesn't change he could be playing in a different uniform next year. When asked about Sims-Walker's comments QB David Garrard responded, "Of course he's frustrated. He is one of our best weapons he doesn't feel like he's being used. It's not on purpose I just have to make the right reads and make the plays that are gonna win us ballgames. I feel like I've done that so far looking at our record." It will be interesting to see if Sims-Walker's remarks affect any team chemistry or make Garrard try and force things. One thing is for sure though what the Jags have done so far has worked which means that losing Mike in the offseason might not be a huge loss or concern for this team

Re: Madden 11: Jacksonville Jaguare Franchise

Kiper's Top 5 WR's

*Each week I will be giving a preview of the top 5 players at each position in the upcoming class

1.) Lyle Leong 6'1" 175 lbs (Texas Tech)
- This year's WR draft class looks a little light on first day type of players. Leong is the highest rated and it is doubtful anyone will spend a first round pick on Leong. He is a shifty receiver that can make plays in space but lacks elite NFL speed and size. He will prob be a 2nd round choice but really should probably fall to the 3rd round.

2.) Devier Posey 6'2" 213 lbs (Ohio State)
- Posey posses great speed and has nice size. He put together a very solid career as a buckeye and will look to find his way into a role in the NFL. Posey however isn't really elite at anything and will most likely start off as a 3rd option at WR. He might get snagged late in the 2nd round but should probably be passed down to the 3rd

3) Greg Childs 6'3" 217 lbs (Arkansas)
- Ever since his patellar tendon injury in 2010, Childs just hasn't looked the same. He still has great hands and runs very precise routes. He however has lost that breakaway speed and that next gear he used to have. Childs could develop into a solid #2 option for a team willing to develop him. He will probably be a late 3rd round early 4th round selection.

4.) Jereme Brooks 5'7" 170 lbs (Utah)
- This diminutive WR out of Utah might make a decent living in the NFL as a slot WR and return man. He has very good speed and the ability to make men miss in the open field. His size however will make it hard for him ever to become an elite player in the NFL. Will be a nice pickup in the later rounds for a team looking for help in the slot

5.) Ronald Johnson 6'0" 185 lbs (USC)
- Johnson never quite lived up to potential for the Trojans but that's not to say he didn't have a very good career. He brings great quickness and big play potential especially in the punt return game. Look for Johnson to end up starting off in the slot where he can use his quickness and good hands to dink and dunk teams. This is another later round pick that could have a very solid career

NEXT WEEK: Top 5 TEs
