ECU beats Memphis 38-7, keeps dream season alive, at a cost



It was virtually over by halftime. ECU drew blood first and often, with Rio Johnson completeling a 5 yard touchdown pass to Danny Webster. Reggie Bullock added a 15 yard score of his own and Harvey tacked on a field goal at halftime. However, on the last drive of the 1st half Rio Johnson suffered another mild concussion, his second of the year. Wornick filled in nicely, completeting a 60 yard pass to Wiggins for a touchdown, and Bullock would close the game out with two more touchdowns. But ECU's medical staff worry that Johnson may have to sit out the rest of the year in order to avoid another concussion for his own health. We expect to know what Johnson will be advised to do on Monday.

JOHNSON OUT FOR SEASON
"Just a risk we don't want to run"

Last Saturday, ECU quarterback Rio Johnson suffered his second concussion of the season. Team doctors stated that the second was more severe than the first, and Johnson was given Sunday off and was tested on Monday. Pirate head coach Ruffin McNeal cited that they were more worried about Johnson's long term health rather than the Pirates' short term success. "When it comes down ti it, it's just a risk we don't want to run. We have a senior in (Brad )Wornick who has plenty of experience this season." Johnson is a junior and is expected to return for his senior season. Johnson finished the season completing 66 of 104 passes for 1,027 yards and throwing for 10 touchdowns.

#19 Pirates blast Blazers out the water, 49-0



Well, so much the ECU offense dropping off without it's starting QB. Brad Wornick stepped in and threw for 218 yards and 3 touchdowns throwing 23 times and completing 15 of those passes. The game got off to a slow start, as is usual for ECU this season, with ECU scoring with a minute to go in the first on a 6 yard goal line fade from Wornick to Arrington. Then the ECU defense constricted a tight grip around the Blazer offense while the ECU offense could hardly do no wrong, with Wornick completing 10 and 6 yard touchdowns to Wiggins and Jones. The second half consisted of ECU pounding rock and putting four scores, three rushing and one punt return by Reggies Bullock. Michael Dobson scored on long runs trying to kill the clock, one from 65 and the other 56. Dobson's 65 yard run reached #7 on ESPN's Top Ten.

ECU keeps the dream season alive with a 28-6 victory over Navy

Wornick had a career day, throwing for 3 touchdowns to Pasut, Bodenheimer, and Wiggins on top of 273 yards and missing only 6 times. Wornick was also the game's leading rusher, netting 81 yards on 13 attempts. Dobson also scored on a 15 yard scamper late in the third to effectively ice the game.

With more and more unbeaten teams and highly ranked teams falling, one has to wonder if ECU will receive a fair shot at the title if they keep up this pace.
