Award Semifinalists Announced

Wreh-Wilson, Williams, Wagner Named Award Semi-Finalists

STORRS, ct -- Redshirt senior cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson, senior defensive end Trevardo Williams, and redshirt junior punter Cole Wagner have been named award semi-finalists. According to a poll of ESPN analysts, Wreh-Wilson is 5th in the running for the Bednarik award, 3rd in the running for the Thorpe award, and 3rd in the running for Best Returner. Williams is currently 4th for both the Nagurski and the Lombardi awards. Wagner finds himself sitting in the 12th spot for the Ray Guy award. All three UConn finalists were quoted as saying that it's "a privilege and an honor" to be named among the "best players in college football".

Tough back to back losses, but you've got some nice recruits coming in next season to reload with.

2012: Game 10

Back on Track
Huskies defeat Pittsburgh to snap 2-game skid

EAST HARTFORD, ct -- The Connecticut Huskies are back in action! After two sloppy games in a row, both road losses, the Huskies got back on track last night against the Pittsburgh Panthers. Pitt, who came into the game with a 1-2 conference record, were no match for the Huskies.

Connecticut dominated the game from start to finish, mainly because of the legs of redshirt sophomore running back Lyle McCombs. McCombs finished the game with well over 120 yards on the ground, more than 100 more than his previous game vs. USF. Both Connecticut runningbacks, McCombs and DJ Shoemate, caught touchdown passes from redshirt senior quarterback Johnny McEntee.

The Huskies improve to 8-2 on the season, 3-2 in the Big East. After a bye week next week, the Huskies will hit the road to take on the University of Louisville.

Yeah, was surprised how easily I breezed thru the first few games. These last couple have been more difficult. I'll certainly need the recruits for next year as many of my star players are seniors this season. Thanks for following.

Recruiting Roundup

Huskies Add 4 More

STORRS, ct -- The Connecticut Huskies have tacked on four more recruits to the Class of 2013. QB Randy Hobbs, HB Alex Holloway, WR Matt Brock, and G Josh Barnes all committed after attending the Huskies' game against Pittsburgh.

Of the four new recruits, it would seem as though Hobbs would have the most immediate impact for Connecticut, as starting QB Johnny McEntee is currently a senior. Holloway and Brock will almost assuredly be red-shirted as the Huskies are deep at both HB and WR.

The addition of these four recruits brings the Huskies to 17 signed recruits this season. When asked why he has signed so many recruits, head coach Paul Pasqualoni made it simple. He remarked that the "NCAA gives me 25 scholarships, so I'm gonna use them". He added that he likes adding depth to the team because it "creates pressure" for the players to play at their highest level, which can only help the team.
