Re: A West side Story: The Rise of the Fresno State Bulldogs!!
BULLDOG NATION FRESNO STATE GEARS FOR SEASON BIGGEST TEST
FRESNO, CA -- It's safe to say that the Bulldogs are battle tested and big game ready after winning early season road games at Oregon and Tulsa. But now may be the biggest test of the season and that's playing on the blue turf up in Idaho when the Bulldogs face the #5 team in country the Boise State Broncos. "I honestly feel the pressure is on them." Middle Linebacker Tim Washington said. Washington leads the nation in sacks with 11.5. "I say that because looking at their schedule with the exception of Michigan State, who has lost some games this season they really havent play a formidable opponent like us." He's right in the 6 wins Boise has only Michigan State was ranked. They have two wins in overtime and a 3 point win last week to Southern Miss. But this is also home coming for the Broncos who have been on the road the last two weeks. When speaking with Goss he let it be known that Boise is a dangerous team that gives you 100 different looks. ""we're spittiing images of each other, ut Boise is just on a higher stage, Im looking forward to the challenge and I know our guys are too." --LOOKING AT BOISE STATE-- The Broncos lead the MWC in total yards per game averaging 414 yards. Quarterback S. Hargrove has been highly efficient for this offense as well with his 214 yards passing per game and 9 touchdowns he's at the top of the confrence. Running back Jason Williams is what makes this offense go however, with a 5.1 rush avg he knows how to get the yards. On the year he scores from 60 yards 72 yards and 88 yards out. Receiver Calvin Davis is the big play man while TE Craig Horner is a red zone nightmare. Defensively the Broncos are #2 in the conference behind Fresno State. But are #1 in the conference in passing yards against gving up just under 200 yards per game. Sophomore defensive end Tim Russell leads this team in Sacks with 5.5 and while Corner Gabe Robinson is a true lockdown corner. HEADLINES

ESPN COLLEGE GAMEDAY PRESENTED BY HOME DEPOT EYE OF THE TIGER! FOR MISSOURI, OPPORTUNITY AWAITS By Brad Nessler ESPN.COM Columbia, MO-- In a weekend full of big games, and to name a few like OU/Texas, Notre Dame/Stanford Fresno/Boise. None may be bigger in college football then when #7 Alabama travels to #11 Missouri. At 6-0 Missouri has a chance to show the nation they can compete at the highest of levels in the SEC. On the other hand Alabama's 4-1 record isnt anything to be ahsmed of as they fell on the road to #2 Arkansas. Mizzou has knocked off #15 Georgia and went on the road to beat #17 South Carolina. But to win tonight, they'll need to be just as physical with Alabama and protect quarterback A. Sims. Should be a treat to watch TOP 25

WOW! MIKE PETERS TOUCHDOWN GRAB WITH :06 SECONDS LEFT GIVES BULLDOGS COME FROM BEHIND WIN AGAINST #5 BOISE
Boise, UT (AP) -- He had just thrown his third interception in the game with this one being returned 65 yards for the score by Boise defensive Back J. Griffin. Chase Kelly and the Fresno State Bulldogs (7-0, 3-0) squandered a 14-3 lead and now were facing a 10-point deficit 24-14 early in the fourth quarter. Mike Peters would haul in touchdown receptions from 16 and 18 yards and the Bulldogs stormed back to beat #5 Boise State (5-1, 2-1) 28-24 in Boise Saturday afternoon. Kelly finished the game 15 for 24 with 260 yards passing but three crucial interceptions nearly was disaster for the Bulldogs. Running back Bill Wright once again turned in a fine performance adding 117 yards and 2 scores on the ground. But it was Peters who got open late grabbing his two touchdowns in the last 3 minutes of the game with the final score coming with just :06 seconds remaining. Boise State started off slow but then put the clamps on a hot Fresno offense. Quarterback Stephen Hargrove seemed to be flustered in the first half getting sacked four times before finding rhythm during the second half, he would finish 9-15 for 183 yards. His top targets were receivers Kyle Holley (4/88) and Calvin Davis (3/85) while tailback Jason Williams added 80 yards and score on the ground. It was a tale of two halves that saw Fresno jump out to a 14-6 lead after touchdown runs of 63 and 9 yards by Wright. But then Boise returned the favor in the second have scoring 18 straight points. After Kelly's third interception Goss looked to have told back up Edwin King to start warming up followed by a heated discussion between Goss and Kelly, Goss would send Kelly back on the field however. Defensively Tim Washington led the way with 7 tackles, defensive end Brian Hackett got to Hargrove 3 times while Robinson grabbed Fresno's lone turnover. The nations #2 defense held Boise to 244 total yards and just 44 net yards rushing. Next up for the Bulldogs is a home date with Wyoming. BULLDOG NATION Photo Gallery

Re: A West side Story: The Rise of the Fresno State Bulldogs!!
COLLEGE FOOTBALL FINAL
MISSOURI KNOCKS OFF BAMA IN OT! By Rece Davis ESPN.com COLUMBIA, MO -- It seemed like the game was over down 10 in the fourth quarter Missouri led by quarterback A. Sims drove brought the Tigers back to within three points but a huge 3rd down drop forced Missouri into a 49 yard field goal attempt to send the game to over time. Kicker B. Anderson was 1-2 and missed a 37 yarder earlier in the game but this time with Ice in his veins nailed the kick and sent the game to OT. Thats where Mizzou would keep the momentum. After trading scores then forcing a Bama missed field goal, Missouri marched back on to the field and on the first play Sims found Gant for the 25-yard touchdown grab and the win and the Tigers got perhaps their biggest win in program history over Alabama 41-34 to improve to 7-0. TOP 25 HEADLINES
Three weekend observations By Ivan Maisel, ESPN.com 1. It seems like Boise State gets to a certain level then flat lines every season as they fell to Fresno State. A new under dog may be brewing down in the All American city as Fresno has now knocked off two top 5 teams this season. Sketchy play at quarterback doesn't make this team elite but a scrappy defense (ranked #2) has fans in Fresno believing. The same could be said but just in opposite terms for the Missouri Tigers who have went into the SEC and proved to be a contender right away knocking off Alabama in over time. Better than averaging defense and a wide open offensive attack tells the country that Missouri has arrived. 2. LSU? what has happened to the Tigers who a year ago played in the title game. A pre season favorite this year. Home losses to Washington and now South Carolina has death Valley losing its mystique. Only averaging 28 points a contest with LSU was supposed to lean on that vaunted defense, well that defense is very vulnerable now giving up over 315 yards per game ranked 6th in the conference. The opposite could be said for Michigan State who slapped Iowa upside the head 33-0. A opening season home loss to Boise followed by a loss to the Irish in a game they had won saw Michigan State turn its fortunes around. 4-0 since the ND loss has put Sparty back in Big Ten title contention, they looked like a contender today. 3. Oklahoma and Arkansas are proving to be the best teams in the country. Both dominant defenses with equally dominant offenses. OU has a running back running rampant and D. Edwards turned in a huge performance against Texas today while Arkansas N. Gray is becoming one of the best quarterback prospect this season, with Gray as the signal caller Arkansas is very dangerous he threw five more scores today in a win over Kentucky. |

BULLDOG NATION BULLDOGS IN THE (AP) TOP 25 FOR FIRST TIME THIS SEASON DEBUTING AT NO. 17
FRESNO, CA -- Monday afternoon was the release of the AP top 25 and the Fresno State Bulldogs who beat #5 Boise State a week ago on the road was #17. Having not been in the poll all season the Bulldogs have put up quite the resume with two wins over top 5 teams beating Oregon and now Boise. "You can thank the work put it by these young men." Head coach Robert Goss said. Goss has the Bulldogs at 7-0 in just his first season. "But we understand there is still work to do. We can let up, its all down hill from here." In many ways this is an historical start for the Bulldogs who are off to their best start since the 2001 season when they ripped off a 6-0 start beating pre season #1 Oregon State as well as going into Camp Randall to beat the Badgers of Wisconsin. Although two teams in history have went undefeated the Bulldogs understand whats at stake. "The buzz around campus is unbelievable right now." Stated Tim Washington. The linebacker is apart of a defense that ranks #2 in all of NCAA. his 48 tackles and 11.5 sacks leads the country as well. "One game at a time or we could be just like Oregon and Boise getting upset." --LOOKING AT WYOMING-- Wyoming is a team that has struggled to put points on the board this year averaging just 17.1 points per game good for 116th in the NCAA. Quarterback S. Sanders has thrown a conference worst 10 interceptions and is completing 48% of his passes. The lone spark offensively for Wyoming has been tailback B. Smith averaging 4.8 yards per touchd when he does get the ball. Defensive end J. Breedlove leads the team with 5 sacks and Cornerback M. Holiday leads the MWC with 5 interceptions, those two spark plug this defensive unit who has played well this season. A win at Air Force last week still has Wyoming as a potential threat. HEADLINES

ESPN COLLEGE GAMEDAY PRESENTED BY HOME DEPOT BIG HOUSE PARTY! CONTROL FOR LEGENDS DIVISION ON THE LINE By Brad Nessler ESPN.COM Ann Arbor, MI-- An already historical rivalry, #21 Michigan State and #17 Michigan can add their chapter to the book today when they prepare for battle with the first place in the Legends division on the line. At 3-0 in conference play Michigan State has completely turned their season around with three straight conference victories over more notable the Iowa Hawkeyes. While Michigan has over come a OT loss to Notre Dame by winning their last two matches both conference victories. The key today is how well will Michigan State be dubbed the little brother, without starting quarterback C. McFadden who has thrown 12 touchdown passes and only 1 interception. The wolverines will be licking their chops with the conference 2nd ranked defense. But can Michigan's spotty offense do enough to pull out the win at home? TOP 25
