I know for a fact the two weeks it froze I didnt use all of my hours. Something to think about, but I also dont have enough recruits on my board to warrant all the hours. (I save a couple of slots for off season guys added to the board).
Yeah man, thankfully it isn't happening in my ULL chise.

In the Montana Mountains

RB Peter Nguyen on one of his two TD runs

Grizzlies D Too Much for Bulls
Missoula, MT

On a cold snowy day we expected the offense to not be perfect and it was no where near it. Thankfully the defense showed up for the Grizzlies. It started out with an opening drive interception by JR CB Marlon Miles, who returned it for a touchdown. It was his second touchdown off an interception of the year. Early in the second quarter the Grizzlies struck again when QB Johnson hit WR Haynes for 28 yards and the score. It looked early on like the offense would be marching up and down the field but that wasn't the case for the passing game. Receivers kept slipping on their cuts and the line wasn't able to hold it's blocks for long. But the running game carried the offense. RB Peter Nguyen had another 100 plus yard day rushing.

The defense was the star of the game. They didn't allow points until :11 seconds left in the third quarter and that was a field goal. With three minutes left in the fourth is when they allowed the only touchdown they gave up. On a blitz play Buffalo's RB Oliver made a great cut up field where SS Tulley missed the tackle. Oliver would finish off the 41 yard run for the score. Other than that one gaff the defense looked dominant and aggressive. If Buffalo's quarterback got the throw off, it was swatted or he was hit. "They were relentless out there. Through the final whistle. I'm sure they were all upset about giving up points today. They played great" Benson said about his defense.

Game Notes
This is Montana's biggest game of the year so far. With a win they will be in control of the conference and their pending promotion. Marshall is led by their passing attack and QB Cato. WR A. Dobson is having a great year for the Herd. He has 906 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns.

The key is Montana's passing game. The last few games it has struggled. Look for Jordan Jackson to complete short passes to get in his groove early. WR Sam Gratton is a game time decision as he is coming back from a broken hand. Most say Benson will keep him on the bench since the other receivers have stepped up their game in his absence.

Commit Breakdown

(All Commit Breakdowns are provided by ESPN Recruiting West Blogger Mason Kelley)
FB- Jacob Gatewood- 6-0 242 lbs JUCO (Jr) Fort Stockton, TX, 1 Star - Chose Montana over Tulsa, SMU, Tulane, UTSA and North Texas

Gatewood is a JUCO AA FB, he is a good pass blocker and has good strength. Like most FB he is slow. He doesn't have good hands to say the least. He can carry the ball and won't fumble. Gatewood will help the FB depth for Montana next year. He and fellow Montana commit Randall Avery will battle it out to start in fall camp next year.

WR- Mike Alston- 5-11 200 lbs, Sunnyvale, CA, 3 Star - Chose Montana over Oregon, Oregon St, San Diego St and UNLV

Alston is a great pick up for Montana, he will add instant depth to a thin WR corps next year. He doesn't have blistering speed but he is far from slow. He also has a great set of hands. He runs his routes well and can make the tough catch in traffic. He isn't much of a return man, because he lacks elusiveness and the flat out acceleration, but as a slot receiver he should be a good one. He also has a tremendous leaping ability to go get the ball when thrown up in the air.

In the Montana Mountains

LB Tripp intercepting QB Cato and returns it for a TD

Defense and Big Plays Over Power Marshall
Missoula, MT

The defense was grizzly against the Herd. LB Jordan Tripp got things going early. He intercepted a pass and returning it for an NCAA record 83 yard touchdown. That wouldn't be the last of Tripp's end zone antics. Marshal would answer though scoring a touchdown after driving the field. In the second quarter the offense started to move the ball. The Grizzlies ran the ball very well against Marshall. QB Johnson had a decent day but threw two picks. On the first drive of the second quarter he would hit WR Carver for a nine yard touchdown pass.

After QB Johnson's first pick deep into Marshall territory, the Montana defense go rolling. DE Zach Wagenmann hit Marshall QB Cato forcing the ball loose, where LB Tripp picked the ball up and ran it into the house, for his second touchdown of the game and season. The defense would force another turnover on Marshall's next drive, CB Sean Murray made an interception. The offense would get a field goal to end the half, 17-7 Grizzlies.

The second half was all Montana. On the opening drive of the half, QB Johnson hit WR Sean Haynes for a 70 yard pass for a score. The Grizzlies didn't look back from there. Sewing the game up in the fourth RB Peter Nguyen scored two touchdowns and rushed for a majority of his yards while ticking the clock down in the fourth quarter. The defense was outstanding in the second half. Only giving up a touchdown and forcing many three and outs. "We killed it in the second half. I haven't seen our defense play that good all year. " Coach Benson said.

This was a big win for Montana. They now control their promotion destiny with the win. The Grizzlies will to New Mexico St next week and travel to San Jose State in week 15 to finish up the year. If they win both games, they will be promoted to the Mountain West.

Commit Breakdown

(All commit breakdowns are provided by ESPN Recruiting West Blogger Mason Kelley)

WR- Devin Joseph- 5-11 175 lbs, Dover, DE, 4 Star - Chose Montana over Penn St and Virginia

Devin Joseph is the 19th best WR in his class. While he doesn't have great size, he isn't tiny for college football. He has good speed and very good hands. Joseph is a good route runner and can get off the line well too. He isn't a great leaper and he isn't very strong. Regardless of his weaknesses he should be on the field for the Grizzlies next year.

Re: In The Montana Mountains | A NCAA 13 Relegation Dynasty

Montana is an awesome place to play at... played there in 2009 and 2010 when Montana decided they wanted a D2 team to beat up on early in the year to get some confidence..

2009 was actually a game for about 37 minutes with it only be 10-0 midway thru the 3rd and well 2010 we wont talk much about that one haha.

on a side note, ended up grabbing 14 catches in 2 games in Missoula so that i am fairly proud of. (check out the link in my sig has some montana highlights on that)

Trumaine Johnson was an animal though, excited to see how he will fair with the Rams.

Dynasty looks sweet i will be checking on it from time to time for sure.!

Cool. I think I might play D3 football one day, depends on what school I choose.

In the Montana Mountains

WR Saylor catches a TD from QB Johnson

Grizzlies Destroy Aggies, Clinch Conference
Las Cruces, NM

It was an overall team effort against New Mexico State. The defense picked NMSU's QB Colwell five times, I repeat five times. They were in great position to make big plays. On the downside, QB Jordan Johnson had three interceptions himself. Other than those miscues, Montana was never challenged in this game. Johnson threw for 332 yards in the game, it was the first time all season he eclipsed the 300 yard mark. RB Peter Nguyen also ran for over 100 yards again this game. And another milestone they reached was two receivers over 100 yards receiving in a game as well. "We clicked on offense, today. The defense gave us more opportunities and we took advantage of them" Coach Benson said.

The defense didn't rack up the sacks like they usually do, instead they had the five interceptions. The Aggie line gave their QB time to throw but maybe that was a bad thing, the Grizzlies DB's were all over the field and rarely left open receivers. S Bo Tulley had two interceptions, giving him first interceptions since the second game of the year. CB Marlon Miles got his sixth pick of the year adding to his team lead. WIth this win the Grizzlies have clinched the Conference Title. They hold all tie breakers over the contending teams.

With the conference title the Grizzlies will also be promoted to the Mountain West next year. This comes as a shock to most of the pundits who picked Montana to finish in the middle of the conference. The pre-season favorite Navy, has had a disappointing year. Navy is Montana's only conference loss so far. They will face San Jose State next week in San Jose to finish the year.

Commit Breakdown

(All Commit Breakdowns are provided by ESPN Recruiting West Blogger Mason Kelley)

CB- Chris Bell- 6-2 196 lbs, Valley City, ND, 3 Star - Chose Montana over TCU, VA Tech, South Florida

Bell is a huge CB, who has good speed and coverage skills. His man and zone coverage skills are top notch. He's not the strongest player and he isn't the best tackler. He doesn't always take the best pursuit angles or recognize plays as well as he should. Regardless of that Bell has a ton of natural abilities that make him a potential star at CB. He will be in the mix in fall camp for the Grizzlies next year. Coach Benson also may redshirt him to be able to use him all 4 of his years.

ATH- Josh Wheeler- 6-2 218 lbs, Kaysville, UT, 3 Star - Chose Montana over Michigan, Utah, Colorado

Wheeler is an outstanding athlete. In HS he plays WR/DB. He can catch the ball well and runs routes well. He also is a sure tackler who can lay the wood. He isn't a great jumper and he doesn't recognize plays well on defense. He does very well in coverage though and takes good pursuit angles. Wheeler looks to most likely redshirt at what ever position he lands at.
