Contrary to popular belief, this will likely not be an easy one for the Irish. Dismiss the records and solely look at last year's game, you'll find that the Irish struggled despite having a better team. They were in South Bend during that game. Now, they find themselves on hostile ground looking to win their ninth. Boston College has lost to such teams as Northwestern, Clemson, Army, Florida State, and Georgia Tech. Not exactly weak opponents. Their biggest win has been against Miami. Notre Dame is looking to make it four straight against the rival Eagles.
I think you and I are one in the same that we like to have people respond to our posts!
I'm working with my sliders, trying to make the games better!
Same here man. This is something that sometimes makes you want to leave OS or try harder depending on the situation, haha. I love/need/want people to respond to my threads.
Tough loss to Oklahoma, but you've got a hell of a season going now.
Thanks for viewing! Yeah, that Oklahoma game really stung. Felt cheated due to the holding calls erasing a touchdown that would have won the game. What can you do, though? I'm just fortunate I wasn't completely knocked out of a chance at playing in the NC game. Finished the BC game late last night. The recap should be up shortly.
27 Point Second Half Gives Irish 41-20 win over Eagles
After breaking one tackle, Golson would break another and find a receiver wide open in the endzone.
CHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts - Once again, Notre Dame took some time getting into the game. They didn't attempt too many passes in that first half and left most of the offensive plays to Cierre Wood. This did not phase the young runningback as he rushed for nearly 200 yards in this game. It would appear that Notre Dame is finally getting their running game established, even if they don't score too many touchdowns on the ground. Cierre Wood doesn't seem to care about scoring touchdowns, so why should any of the coaching staff?
Everett Golson continued his semi-impressive of having an interception in a game by another week. This time, though, he managed to counteract his interceptions by throwing for five touchdowns. Most of them were fairly short thanks to Wood's running on the ground, but it's still an impressive feat. When Golson plays like this, it makes people forget that he's tied for first in interceptions. Those 29 touchdowns do get rid of that horrid smell of 17 interceptions. As long as he keeps throwing touchdowns, he'll keep his starting spot throughout the season.
Once again, the Irish passing defense look very weak against another team. Chase Rettig, Boston College's QB, isn't exactly a good person to look weak against. He has only managed 2368 yards and 18 touchdowns while throwing 14 interceptions. Fortunately, he is completing over 50% of his passes. That accuracy was enough to get him over 300 yards through the air today. He just didn't have that accuracy down past the 50, which is where most teams fail completely. Kelly has stated before that he's fine with his team giving up field goals, as long as the offense keeps on scoring.
That Irish rush defense has looked unstoppable. So far, they currently lead in the NCAA in rushing yards allowed. The main mind behind stopping the run would have to be Te'o. A running back can break through the line easily, but the senior linebacker will always be there to stop them. But, in Boston College's defense, they did manage to score a rushing touchdown on the Irish. There's one more person that deserved to be acknowledged on the defense. Defensive end Stephon Tuitt is one and a half sacks away from tying Justin Tuck's single season sack record. It has been a surprise season for the defensive end, but he is seemingly well on his way to breaking the Super Bowl champion's record and, perhaps, becoming a future top draft pick.
The next Wake Forest and Notre Dame match-up will be the first game this season that doesn't really have much history. They've only had one meeting, and that was last year. Again, this is another game that the Irish will have to focus on despite them playing a weak opponent. In last year's game, Notre Dame only beat the Demon Deacons by a single touchdown. While the Irish are huge favorites in this game, Wake Forest will give it their all to try to become bowl eligible.
We've seen this very often, as T.J. Jones speeds around defenders to get wide open for the pass.
Tyler Eifert barely manages to stay in bounds, as he snags a pass from Golson in back of the endzone.
