Resurrection of Bill Cowher: A Kansas City Chiefs Madden 13 Franchise
I've always been a fan of Bill Cowher, his attitude towards the game and his players, to me he has always been one of the more exciting football coaches to watch, and a great motivator. Before Todd Haley, there was a ton of speculation about a possible return of Coach Cowher to the game, I had my fingers crossed daily in hopes that he would join the Chiefs organization. Unfortunately, the rumors were untrue, until now.
Romeo Crennel did an amazing job at the end of the 2011 season, the Chiefs players rallied around their interim head coach and brought Coach Crennel a 2-1 record, ending the Green Bay Packers winning streak, and putting him in a good position to be hired as the permanent head coach of the organization.
During the NFL off season, the Chiefs front office brought in multiple coaches for a head coach interview, amongst these great coaches was an NFL great, Bill Cowher. A difficult decision was to be made by team owner Clark Hunt and general manager Scott Pioli, in the end of the debate, the decision came down to the history of the two. Although Mr. Crennel had a good run at the end of the 2011 season, Mr. Hunt and Mr. Pioli could not put his tenure as the Cleveland Browns head coach behind them. Romeo Crennel was given the news as well as the opportunity to continue as the Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator, but he decided to take his services elsewhere. Bill Cowher was offered the head coaching job of the Kansas City Chiefs on January 13
th, 2012 and gladly accepted.
This begins the resurrection of Head Coach Bill Cowher and the future of the Kansas City Chiefs Football Organization.
Coach Cowher plans to continue an aggressive zone blocking scheme with heavy emphasis on running in Kansas City. He favors "one-cut" running backs who can hit a hole between the tackles with power yet have enough speed to take it to the end zone. Also, wide receivers who can jump up and fight for the ball are a much needed asset in Coach Cowhers scheme.
The Defenisve scheme in Kansas City will remain the same, a hybrid form of the 3-4. Coach Cowher feels as though the defense in Kansas City has a solid foundation with little need for improvement. The aggressiveness of the defense may be tuned up a little higher, and a mix of different blitzing formations should be expected to confuse the offensive line and put heavy pressure on the quarterback.
Coach Cowher was handed a set of goals today from the upper management. He has a lot of his plate after the metting with Clark Hunt and Scott Pioli, most notable of all the goals, make the playoffs.
