Back to .500!
Strong third quarter leads WMU to victory
Kalamazoo Gazette - Western Michigan enter the second half down 10-0, but on the opening drive kicked a field goal. The Huskies fumbled the ensueing kickoff and the Bronco's tied the game up. The next kickoff was a touchback but the first play on offense the Huskies turned it over again and again Western Michigan scored to put the score at 17-10. The teams traded touchdowns in the 4th and WMU is now back to .500 (6-3, 3-3) in conference play and looking to capture the Victory Cannon against rival Central Michigan next week.

Close but no Cannon Broncos lose a 24-21 heartbreaker to Central Michigan
Kalamazoo Gazette - Since 2006 the battle for the Victory Cannon has been a one sided affair and with the Chippewas win today they have now brought home the trophy 6 of the last 7 years. WMU had a few missed plays in the game that could have changed the outcome, but again the defense just could not make a stop when it counted. The Broncos now fall to 6-4 on the year and 3-4 in conference.
T. Van Tubbergen incomplete pass. Intended for C. Bynes

Fumble!
Late fumble costs Broncos the game, maybe more!
Kalamazoo Gazette - Entering todays game Western Michigan had an outside shot at going to a bowl game, that along with a sure win look to be gone with a late fumble that cost them the game. With a little over a minute left to play WMU had taken a 24-20 lead and converted a 3rd down and Eastern Michigan was out of timeouts. All the Broncos had to do was run the clock out to secure the win but on runningback Tevin Drake fumbled and the Eagles scored the go ahead touchdown with less than 0:10 in the game. With the victory Eastern Michigan also won the Michigan MAC Trophy defeating both Central Michigan and the Broncos. Western Michigan went winless this season against its rivals a feat that is sure to not sit well with head coach Cubit.
FUM: recovered by EMU C. Weingrad for 24yds

Due to the time it takes to research for the commentary on the videos I think I will just start doing quick little blurb write ups occasionally through out the season.

New Coach!
Eric McDonald introduced as Army's next Head Coach!
West Point, NY - Today AD Kevin Anderson introduced Eric McDonald as the new head coach of the Army Black Knights. Former coach Rich Ellerson left to become the defensive coordinator for the Oklahoma State Cowboys after he and the school where unable to come to terms on a new deal. Army is coming off an amazing 11-2 season and coach McDonald looks to continue that momentum in his first head coaching job.
In his opening speech at the press conference McDonald thanked the school for the opportunity, then showed the fiery charisma that helped him land the job. "I have stood on the field and lead my teammates to a National Championship and looking around this historic place I hear the echos of National Championships and Heisman Trophy's from the past. That noise will no longer be a distant calling, we will get back to that level! This program will become a national powerhouse once again!"
Anderson was questioned on why he choose a young coach with only one year of coordinator experience. "I interviewed many candidates but Eric's resume on the field and his ability to coach can be seen from a mile away. The man is a motivator and can convey his playing style effortlessly. He is a great fit here and we look forward to many years of success together."

PRESEASON THOUGHTS
We are not a great team but there is some decent talent here. The recruits that the previous staff signed were just crap. They are not the type of athletes that I need to get this program competing at the national level. I will be really hitting up recruiting hard this season to try and get the ball rolling with this program. As for scheduling we did bring back rival Rutger's to the schedule and also added in state opponent Syracuse. Once we become an annual Top 20 program I will start adding some real big boys to the schedule.
POSTSEASON THOUGHTS
Overall I am pleased with this season. We were able to win the Commander In Chief trophy, Conference USA and win enough games to be Promoted to the Big East. We did an amazing job on the recruiting trail and brought in the 39th overall rated class. We searched high and low for kids who were not getting attention by the big schools and as soon as we found them we put everything we had into getting them signed. A few got away (as soon as a big school started in on them we quickly drop out because at this point it is just wasting time and effort since we are not good enough to pull these guys in).
Our biggest signing was our only four star prospect, Runningback Dwayne Sherman (6'0, 204lbs, 68OVR) from Mountain Brook, AL. Dwayne was not being pursued by anyone around week 10 and we jumped at the opportunity to get him. We were up to second at the start of the offseason then Alabama started to pay attention. Once I noticed this I quit putting time towards him but left the scholarship offer. Much to my surprise on signing day the Crimson Tide had never offered him a spot on there team and he decided to join the Black Knights.
Entering the last week of the season #1 TCU (12-0) has arleady secured there spot in the National Championship game by winning the Big 12. North Carolina (11-0) currently sits in a solid second place but must beat #17 Maryland (8-3) in the ACC conference championship game. If they falter #3 Alabama (11-1) plays against #4 Missouri (9-2) for the SEC Title and the winner of that game has an outside chance to play the Horn Frogs if everything goes their way.
Bowl Week News
#1 TCU (12-0) will face North Carolina (12-0) in the BCS Natioanl Championship game after the Tar Heels defeated Maryland 0-0 to capture the ACC Championship. It was there first since 1980 when they went 11-1 and were lead on the field by Lawrence Taylor. For TCU they have done an amazing job winning the Big 12 in only there second year in the conference. They last played for the National Championship in 1938 when they won the Sugar Bowl capturing there first Consensus National Championship.
Year End News
North Carolina (13-0) won the BCS Natioanl Championship after defeating TCU 34-31.
EAST Relegation News
Army (21-5, .808) is promoted to the Big East EAST (Rule 2), UConn (8-15, .348) is relegated to Conference USA.
Toledo (22-6, .786) is promoted to the Big East EAST (Rule 2), Temple (11-14, .440) is relegated to the MAC.
Arkansas State (16-10, .615) is promoted to Conference USA (Rule 7), Memphis (4-20, .167) is relegated to the Sun Belt.
Troy (15-11, .577) is promoted to Conference USA (Rule 7), UAB (5-19, .208) is relegated to the Sun Belt.
WEST Relegation News
Tulsa (19-7, .731) is promoted to the Big East WEST (Rule 4), Air Force (6-17, .261) is relegated to MWC.
Utah State (17-9, .654) is promoted to the MWC (Rule 7), La.Tech (6-18, .250) is relegated to the WAC.

Black Knights drop opener to Rugters!
West Point, NY - Today saw the learning curve the Black Knights are in for as they change from an option based team to a more spread oriental approach. The offense had problems moving the ball through the air but did enough to have a chance with less than a minute left to win the game. They were unable to convert 4th and inches when the junior QB Angel Santiago miss read the LB (he thought was falling back into coverage with the TE) who actually saw his crossing route and covered the play to prefection, ending Armys chance to win.
