Oakland Raiders: Out with the Old in With the New

Breaking News:

Dennis Allen is Out as Oakland Raider Head Coach

Mystery surrounds the sudden removal of Allen

Oakland -The news out of Oakland is that newly appointed Head Coach Dennis Allen has been removed as Head Coach by the Oakland Raiders Organization for an undisclosed reason.

Reporters were seen waiting outside Raider Headquarters to catch General Manager Reggie McKezie after the news broke that Allen had been removed. The GM however, would leave without making a comment on the subject prompting some of the media outside Raider HQ to believe that there's more to this story than an ordinary coaching change.

The News came as a huge shock to all who follow Raider football considering how well players were seeming to respond to Allen and his scheme in practice.

The firering leaves two looming questions for Raider Fans to consider heading into the season:
1)Who will replace Jackson as Head Coach?
and
2)Why was Allen fired in the first place?

Breaking News:

Oakland hires former CFL star Reginald Crawford as Head Coach

Oakland makes a gamble on an inexperienced young rookie head coach

Oakland -A Head Coach has been selected to take over the reigns for atleast the 2012 NFL Season.

To the suprise of the entire football world, the Oakland Raiders have decided to hire a virtual unknown for the vacant position. Reginald Crawford, whos last Head Coaching position was of his nephews middle school football team in Portland, Oregon was one of 5 people invited to interview for the postion over the last week. Reginald impressed interviewers with his knowledge of the game and passion for winning.

Reginald Crafwford may soun familiar to CFL fans as he lead the Toronto Argunauts to 4 consecutive division titles and 2 Grey Cups from 1989-1996. Crawford also played a year of football for Oregon State before begin drafted by the Argunauts in 1987.

Probably knowone was as stunned as Crawford himself when the word came that he would get the bid to coach the disgruntled franchise in 2012.

"well to be honest, I only threw my hat in the ring because my wife is a diehard raider fan, but as soon as the first interview started I knew that I had something to offer these guys, so I gave McKenzie a rundown on the philosophy I would bring to Oakland and he loved it."

A press conference has been sceduled for wendsday.

Silver and Black Preseason Update:

New Head Coach Begins Career with rocky Preaseason.

The Oakland Raiders limped out of preseason ranked 32nd in both offense and defense

By Sean Thomas
Oakland - When it looked like the beginning of the football season couldn't get uglier after the firering of Head Coach Dennis Allen, The Oakland Raiders reverted back to their losing ways with a unimpressive preseason showing.

Both the offensive and defensive starters looked unmotivated and sluggish in the limited series they were allowed to play. Quarterback Carson Palmer was least impressive prompting many to doubt the veterans ability to sling the pigskin. Running back Darren McFadden saw limitied action, but appeared to lack the explosiveness seen in the first half of the 2011 season, but this could be due to McFadden not wanting to reinjure himself early on. The defense was straight up horrible. Improvement must happen before now and the beginning of the season if the Raiders want to be able to do anything in 2012.

Coach Crawford, who's always quick to admit that he sees a diamond in the rough in Oakland, was fairly unnerved by the preseason troubles.

"Yea, we got our asses handed to us, but it's preseason, things go bad but in the end, we get a chance to fix the problems and start fresh. The men in that locker room are going to give it their all come opening day. No, i'm not worried. I saw some great things out there."

The highlight of the preseaon had to be the play of QB Matt Lienart who showed some of that USC competitiveness and grit. Something that many expected was lost years ago. If he keeps it up in practice, and Palmer isn't able to get it together, don't be suprised to se Lienart trotted out their to give it a go.

The Home opener for the Raiders is Sep. 12 against the chargers.

Darren McFadden is a huge key for success in 2012.

Silver and Black Game Update

Oakland drops home opener 27-24 due to Rivers near perfect day.

Dispite loss, the maligned Raiders showed much needed heart in home loss.

Oakland - This is the day that so many Raider fans around the league wait for. The day when the Silver and Black once again spill onto the gridiron, once again in the hunt for the Lombardi Trophy. Another Season of Raider Football is upon us, and like every year, the hopes are high for the Raider Faithful. New Coach Reginald Crawford says he sees a winner in Oakland. The story will unfold itself here in 2012. Just Win Baby.

The Oakland Raiders lost a tough one to open the season on Monday Night Football. Going into the game, it seemed like the chargers had a clear advantage over the Raiders in every facet, but with clever play calling and an outstanding performance from Tyvon Branch, the Raiders were able to keep the game close with the game ending 27-24 in the chargers favor.

Chargers Quarterback was a man possesed completely picking apart the weak Raider secondary. It appeared that the Chargers recievers were just more athletic than the defenders at times, which questions the level of conditioning these players have been held to under since Coach Crawford took over nearly a month and a half ago.

The Raiders offense struggled early but was helped along by running back Darren McFadden. McFadden carried the marjority of the first half offense due to the poor decision making of Raider starting Quarterback Carson Palmer. Palmer threw two interceptions before the 2nd half. He outragegously over and underthrew targets, and flat out looked bad in the first half of the game. The second half however was another story.

The Raiders came out gunning in the second half, dropping 17 points on the charger defense. Palmer would throw touchdown passes to both WR jacoby Ford and TE Bo Scaife in the second half.

The defense was pulled apart by Rivers, thats true, and Ryan Mathews did rush for 118 yards. But In my honest opinion i believe that the defense played better than anyone could have expected. Ryan Mathews did have 118 yards, but it was on 38 carries which brought him to a 3.3 yard per carrie average. Mot run defenses would kill for that against a dynamic player like Mathews. The pass coverage will need work, but it's early in the season, and this game can be taken as a measuring stick for the rest of the season, because honestly, how can it get any worse than 22/25 and 3 tds.

The next game will be against Reggie Bush and the Miami Dolphins in Miami.

Silver and Black Game Update

Last Minute Drive Puts the Nail in Oakland's Coffin

Sebastian janikowski missed a game winning 58 yard field goal in the final seconds

Oakland -The Raides have been in this position before. The last seconds ticking away from the clock while the gang of silver and black jerseys line up for the game winning kick. Sadly this game didn't end the same way as so many other games in the past, as the Oakland Raiders dropped sundays matchup against the Miami Dolphins 20-21 in Miami.

The Oakland Raiders defense suffered a collapse in the second half as they weren't able to hold on to their 20 point lead going into the second half. Miami QB David Garrard, who threw four interceptions during the game, lead his Dolphin recievers perfectly in the last quarter of football, connectiong with Titus Beckhum for a 35 yard reception which set up the go ahead touchdown rush by Steve Slaten.

Overall the Raiders controlled the game for the majority of play time. Reggie Bush was stuffed for the majority of his carries, without Steve Slatens breakout runs, the score would have looked alot different in the end. The Raider Pass Coverage was impressive as well, forcing four turnovers from the veteran David Garrard.

The raider offense once again struggled through the air, this time coming after the second half. The Raiders became a one dimensional team after half time due to the stiffling pass coverage of the Miami secondary. The offensive work load was placed on the shoulders of the running backs who combined for an impressive 220 yards on the ground and 33 yards through the air. Jacoby Ford was the teams leading reciever collecting 86 yards on 5 receptions.

Outside Linebacker Phillip Wheeler and Safety Tyvon Branch were the leaders on defense collecting 10 tackles between the two and three interceptions. Matt Shaughnesy grabbed the teams only sack in the 3rd quarter.

The Raiders problems can be primarily linked to petty mistakes like dropped passes and poor pass pertection, things that Coach Reginald Crawford is going to need to address next week when the Steelers travel to the Black Hole for a early sunday matchup.
