James Washington scored a 50-yard touchdown run to get things off on the right foot for the Wolfpack.
Clemson, SC - NC State clinched the ACC Atlantic Division Title this evening in Clemson and will represent the Atlantic in the ACC Championship Game in two weeks in Charlotte, NC.
The Wolfpack will likely play either Virginia Tech or Miami in the ACC Championship Game. The Wolfpack have not won an ACC Title since 1979, but will finally have another chance this year.
Tonight, the Wolfpack (9-2, 6-1) faced #21 Clemson (7-4, 5-3) on the road. Last year, NC State blew out Clemson 37-13 on Homecoming in Raleigh. Tonight's game looked like it was heading that way, as well, as two Tajh Boyd interceptions in the first half allowed the Wolfpack to build a 28-10 lead as the two teams went to the locker room at the half.
The NC State defense stood strong in the second half, eventually forcing the Tigers into four turnovers, three of them being interceptions by Boyd.
Nevertheless, Clemson fought back with a pick-six in the third quarter to cut the lead to 28-17. At the 7:40 mark in the fourth quarter, Adam Humphries caught a 46-yard pass from Tajh Boyd over the top and ran in for a score. The Tigers converted the conversion attempt and cut the NC State lead to 28-25.
NC State finally got their first points of the second half on the ensuing drive as Niklas Sade kicked a 45-yard field goal to give the Wolfpack a 31-25 lead.
The next drive was crucial as Clemson could take the lead if they scored a touchdown, but Tajh Boyd was sacked on a third-and-long attempt and fumbled the football, which was picked up by Darryl Cato Bishop and taken in for a 27-yard fumble return score. The Wolfpack also picked up the two-point conversion and seized a 39-25 lead with only 4:16 remaining in the game.
Clemson also failed on the ensuing drive and turned the ball over on downs in their own territory. Niklas Sade would tack on another field goal to give the Wolfpack a three-score lead with 1:10 left as the Wolfpack would go on to win 42-25.
James Washington had a fine game as he carried the ball 24 times for 126 yards and three touchdowns. He also set the school record for touchdowns in a single season this afternoon. His first score set the pace in the first half as he rocketed off for a 50-yard score at the 2:51 mark in the first quarter to give the Wolfpack a 7-0 lead.
NC State will face Boston College next week on Senior Day. The Eagles upset #7 Virginia Tech earlier this afternoon and will likely prove to be a tough foe.

NC State defensive tackle Carlos Gray sacks Boston College quarterback Chase Rettig.
Raleigh, NC - NC State overcome three picks by Mike Glennon this afternoon as the Wolfpack (10-2, 7-1) blew out No. 24 Boston College (7-5, 4-4) 31-13 to win their 10th game of the year and carry their momentum into next week's ACC Championship Game.
Nevertheless, for Glennon, it was a came he'd probably rather forget. The senior quarterback, who will likely be drafted in one of the first few rounds of the NFL draft next year, threw his 15th, 16th, and 17th picks of the season in today's game, two of which came in the second half an ultimately killed NC State's offense that had been proficient in the first half.
Glennon's measurables will get him drafted, but he must work on cutting down on his interceptions. Glennon's 17th interceptions is second worst in the nation, only behind Florida International's Jake Medlock. In addition, Glennon's touchdown-interception ratio is 15-17, which is quite poor. Additionally, Glennon has not had a game this year in which he has not tossed an interception, which is quite shocking.
Fortunately for the Wolfpack, as has been the case all year, James Washington and the running attack carried the Wolfpack to a victory. Washington had a modest game by his standards, but still managed 20 carries for 107 yards and a score. Backups Tony Creecy and Mustafa Greene combined to carry the ball 25 times for 99 yards, as well. Washington did not play in the final quarter as NC State head coach Tom O'Brien elected to put in the second-stringers with the game well in hand and allow them to rest up for the ACC Championship Game next week against No. 13 Virginia Tech next Saturday in Charlotte.

How is Boston College 7-4 (Before game), and ranked #24. But, NC Sate is 9-2 and aren't ranked lol.
Who knows? It is your typical bizarre EA poll logic at work.
Boston College had upset a top 15 Virginia Tech team the week before, which had a lot to do with it, and I've pretty much beaten no one good all year, aside from a halfway-decent Clemson team (and I've lost to a 6-6 UConn team and a 4-8 Virginia team).

Without E.J. Manuel, yes. NC State is rather overrated in this game, frankly, which also plays a factor. Guys like James Washington are vastly overrated.
David Amerson picked off Logan Thomas twice this evening in Charlotte.
Charlotte, NC - James Washington delivered a Heisman-worthy performance tonight as he rushed for 161 yards on 23 carries to propel his NC State Wolfpack (11-2, 8-1) to a 34-0 shutout victory over No. 13 Virginia Tech (10-3, 6-3) in the 2012 ACC Championship Game this evening.
The Wolfpack won the ACC Title for the first time since 1979 and will be heading to a BCS bowl game!
The NC State defense made the biggest difference and completely shut down Virginia Tech's entire offensive arsenal. Logan Thomas was frustrated into 7-for-19 passing and three interceptions. He only managed 72 yards through the air and was sacked a season-high seven times.
Meanwhile, Virginia Tech only netted eight yards of rushing.
In total, the Hokies' offense netted a shockingly low 80 yards of total offense and really never showed any signs of life at any point in the game.
To make matters worse, the Hokies turned the ball over three times due to Logan Thomas interceptions. Thomas' second interception was picked off by C.J. Wilson in the fourth quarter and taken all the way for a pick-six, meaning the NC State defense actually outscored the Virginia Tech offense.
Mike Glennon payed well tonight after a terrible outing in last week's game against Boston College. Glennon threw for 268 yards and three touchdown and got the Wolfpack off to a hot start with two long touchdown tosses to Quintin Payton and Tobias Palmer to give the Wolfpack a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter. His third touchdown pass would come with 1:08 left in the third quarter to give the Wolfpack their last offensive score of the day and giving the Wolfpack a 27-0 lead.
Tobias Palmer caught Glennon's second touchdown pass and was the Wolfpack's leading receiver as he garnered 101 receiving yards on only four receptions, including a 56-yard touchdown reception. Quintin Payton caught a pair of passes for 68 yards, including the 63-yard touchdown bomb that gave the Wolfpack their first score.
With the victory, James Washington figures to be the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy and the Wolfpack are now locked into a BCS bowl. Current projections are indicating that the Wolfpack will face Louisville in the Orange Bowl.
