2013 Regular Season Preview
So close. So very close.
The Ravens were so close to being crowned Super Bowl Champions last season, but when the game was over the scoreboard read in favor of the other team. However, for this team, time spent sulking was short. The Ravens got back at it in no time flat. Scouting rookies, watching game film, signing free agents, doing whatever can be done to make the team better.
The goal this season is clear... Get. Back. To. The. Super Bowl. AND WIN.
One of the biggest pieces to help build toward that goal is OLB Terrell Suggs, who is fully recovered and foaming at the mouth to get back on the field. The fans certainly can't wait to see him back to form and neither can the coaches.
There were some key departures this offseason, namely tight end Ed Dickson, who was a big part of Baltimore's passing attack last year. Dennis Pitta also took an offer from another team, and that left the Ravens with no tight ends. Thankfully, Anthony Fasano agreed to a 4 year deal with the team. Rookie TE Luke Vinal will be seeing plenty of playing time as well.
The main focus of the offseason was beefing up the defense and getting the depth chart stuffed with roleplayers. LB Stephen Cooper, CB Captain Munnerlyn, and DE Shawne Merriman are welcome additions to this Ravens defense. Along with rookie LBs Terry Howard and Mitch McGruder and rookie DT Aleon Young, they all make a great group of new Ravens.
The Baltimore Ravens come into this season in a position they aren't used to being in. The offense comes in with a pre-season rank of 8th in the league. The defense? 25th. That is certainly a shock. Here's hoping the defense can step up and get back into the top 10.
So, welcome to the 2013 NFL regular season!
Week 1 is a showdown with Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts!
Re: Run This Town - Baltimore Ravens Dynasty (M13)
5 Turnovers Cause Ravens to Fall to Colts
It's been proven, if you turn the ball over you are going to lose. Especially if you turn it over 5 times! The Ravens almost proved themselves the exception to the rule, but a last second Adam Vinatieri field goal gave the Colts the win.
The offense, who looked like a fine-tuned sports car last season, now looks to have some serious engine trouble. Joe Flacco was the cause of 4 of the team turnovers just by himself, throwing 3 interceptions and losing a fumble. Ray Rice, the holder of the NFL's new single-season rushing record, gained 88 yards on the ground and scored twice, he also lost a fumble.
The defense, on the other hand, looked much improved from last year. They had trouble stopping the run, giving up 163 yards total, but kept the backs out of the endzone. Second year QB Andrew Luck was certainly feeling the pressure of the Ravens' revitalized defensive front. A combined 7 total sacks were recorded by the Ravens today. Terrell Suggs made sure the entire NFL knew he is back, by leading the team with 8 tackles and 2 sacks. The newly-signed DE Shawne Merriman also got himself a sack.
Baltimore is going to have to get the offense under control if they want to make it back to the Super Bowl this season. Thankfully, the season doesn't end after one game and there's still a lot of time to work on it.
Next week, Baltimore travels long distance down to Glendale, Arizona as they take on the Cardinals!

WEEK 2
@ Arizona Cardinals
Before their 19-17 loss at the hands of the Colts, Baltimore had an offensive ranking of 8th and defensive of 25th. Entering week two, the table has been flipped. The Ravens' offense comes in ranked 28th and the defense ranked 9th.
This week is a great opportunity to show some muscle... A long road trip against an opponent that nearly doubled your points total in week one.
Re: Run This Town - Baltimore Ravens Dynasty (M13)
Ravens Pour it On and Topple the Cardinals
After the last second loss at home Week 1, Baltimore was chomping at the bit to get on the field at Arizona and take a win on the road. That is exactly what they did, and it pretty spectacular fashion.
The offense really came out of it's shell today, especially Ray Rice, who rushed for just short of 200 yards! Joe Flacco was able to control himself and got himself a touchdown pass, but still threw one interception. Special acknowledgment goes to the offensive line, who didn't allow a single sack in this game.
To say the defense had the Cardinals' number would be a gross understatement. This defense was flaying all over the field, playing solid defense that held Arizona to just 10 points. QB John Skelton was sacked 6 times in this game! Baltimore's defensive front, with guys like Terrell Suggs, Haloti Ngata, Ray Lewis, and now Shawne Merriman, is a real force to be reckoned with. Through two games they've racked up 13 sacks!
CB Captain Munnerlyn showed people why Baltimore picked him up in the offseason, as he grabbed one of the Ravens' 2 INTs and took it back for a touchdown. Second year man Christian Thompson had the other interception.
A 1-1 start to the season is at least better than last year's 0-2 start. Baltimore will try and get above .500 next week, as they travel to Cincinnati to battle the Bengals on Monday Night Football!
