Oxford, Ohio – The Battle of the Bricks. A game with huge MAC title implications. Ohio comes in with a perfect 3-0 MAC record to match Miami’s. Ohio comes in at 7-0 overall while the Redhawks sit at 5-2. A game shaping up to be an epic battle.
Ohio got off to an early start when Tettleton connected with his favorite target Thompson for a 7 yard TD in the first.

After a punt Dysert drove the Hawks down the field and knotted things up with a 6 yard option keeper. Tettleton fired back with a 3 yard score to Bussey. Late in the half Miami tied it back up when Hammonds let a screen tip off his hands to Miami CB Brown who took it 68 yards for the tying TD.

As expected the game would come down to the wire. With the scoreboard showing 35-35 at the start of the fourth quarter Tettleton put together another long drive and topped it off with an 8 yard TD strike to Futrell. Minutes later Carrie put the Bobcats up 49-35 when he jumped a route, leaped for an interception and took it back 90 yards for a score. Dysert to Harwell for a 14 yard score cut it back to 49-42. Ohio had to settle for a 50 yard Weller field goal on their next drive, making it 52-42. Miami cut the lead to three when Dysert hit Harwell for a third TD from 16 yards out. The clock read :52 after the score. Ohio was able to recover the Redhawks onside kick attempt and run out the clock to get the 52-49 win.
Tettleton and Dysert combined for 100 pass attempts, 1,025 yards and 10 touchdowns.
“We certainly never intended to throw the ball over 50 times but with Beau (Blankenship) banged up and Ryan (Boykins) out we really couldn’t get it going on the ground. Tyler got hot early so we just went with it.” Djp said after the game.
Ohio improves to 8-0(4-0) and now has the inside track to a MAC Championship berth. Eastern Michigan (3-5(1-3)) comes into Athens next week.
