Loving your chise right now. To bad you lost against the Packers. I live in Michigan so I am a Lions fan......lol Get us a superbowl!
Thanks
I'm hoping to bring a title to Detroit. May not be this season, though. I think the division is too good for me to compete this year.
Packers were tough. I threw the kitchen sink at Rodgers but he was unphased. I need to get my INT's under control. Too many bad reads and forced passes.
The only thing more important to Thanksgiving than the Lions is turkey. The team will be focused on stopping Arian Foster. It will have to be Shaub-to-Johnson that wins this one if the Texans are going to be victorious. The Lions will break out those really ugly throwbacks they wear every Thanksgiving. You know the ones.
Calvin Johnson had a good week of practice with no setbacks and is expected to play. LB Stephen Tulloch says he will play, but the team has him listed as a game-time decision.
Stafford Shines on Thanksgiving as Lions Walk Off 19-16
A happy Thanksgiving it is as the Lions get their fourth overtime win of the season. Much of the credit should be given to Matthew Stafford, who spread the ball around well on his way to 32 of 45 passing with no interceptions. The team converted over 60% of their third downs in the win.
"We know we have have to get a win every week at this point," said Matthew Stafford in the postgame interview. "I was able to get into a groove early and get my confidence going. I think having Calvin back out there helped. I knew I had to just take what they gave me and that's what I tried to do. That and not turn the ball over," he said to the broadcast team, "And I'm not really sure what to do with this thing," he laughed after being handed the Galloping Gobbler award, which is given to the Thanksgiving game MVP.
The Lions did have the first possession in overtime, but a sack by J.J. Watt prevented a field goal attempt. The special teams unit was able to down the ensuing punt inside the Texans' 10-yard line. After a stop by the defense, Stafford resumed his hot streak, connecting with Brandon Pettigrew and Calvin Johnson to set up the game-winning field goal.
Calvin Johnson had a big day in his return, finishing with over 100 yards and a touchdown. His play throughout the game, including the key reception in overtime, is a big reason why the Lions are back over the .500 mark. Punter Nick Harris pinned three punts inside the 20-yard line to make things especially difficult for the Texans' offense today.
The Lions celebrate their first win on Thanksgiving since beating the Packers in 2003.
- Illinois LT Wade Gaspar struggled to get depth and seal the edge of the pocket against Northwestern's Erik Wims, one of the nation's speediest pass rushers (Falls from #1 overall to #5, #1 OT)
- Washington QB Eric Rancour (6'6) towers atop the Big Board as the new #1 overall
- Is Lugo out of control? After kicking Boston College's FB Nic Taylor, Pittsburgh MLB John Lugo was suspended for the second time this season (disappears from Draft Board, not sure what that means...cue the music)
- A weak lead blocker, San Jose State FB Hank Delaney has still caught many scouts' attention, but many wonder why he is even playing fullback (late 2nd rounder, #1 FB)
Lions Scouting Department
The Lions are looking to spend their early picks on secondary players. Most of the guys don't have the speed that the team is looking for. Scouts continue to comb through the laundry list of names at corner and safety. They can always hope projected Top 10 pick CB Corey Rothman, who possess elite speed and quickness (A/A) with decent coverage ability (C/C), will fall to them.
Team scouts are taking notice of little talked about Stanford TE Glenn Banks (Projected 6th Round). At first glance, he appears to be a raw, project player - A terrible blocker (F) whose production suffers due to his inability to learn even the simplest offense (F AWR). For a guy who is 6'7 and 241 lbs, he is a phenomenal athlete. He has speed (B), agility (A), jumping ability (A) and very good hands for a tight end (B). Scouts believe he could be very productive in a passing offense, such as that of the Lions, showcasing his receiving skills over his blocking skills.
It's simple for the Lions - they must win every week to stand a chance in the NFC North. The team gets S Louis Delmas back this week.
Indianapolis leads the AFC South by one game over Houston. Andrew Luck is trailing only Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill in the race for AFC Offensive Rookie of the Year.
