ROSTER
I'm using the official January 4th roster update which was heavily edited by me using Xanathol's roster editor. Every starter on every team is rated 80 or higher. Every kicker is rated 95 or higher and every punter rated 90 or higher. This was done for several reasons. Main one being to minimize backups becoming starters despite having a lower rating and to minimize players playing out of position.
DEPTH CHART
Every team's depth chart was setup in order of overall rating. I know that the CPU adjusts everything due to every team's respective scheme setup but while testing, starters were starters and backups playing as starters were minimal. For my 49ers, I only go by the in-game depth chart during practice and actual games.
TRADES
I have trades set to human only. I hate the CPU trading players because before you know it, half the players in the league are on different teams. Also, I have noticed that only players with one year left on the contracts get traded by the CPU. While I will try to complete a few trades in the 2013 off-season, none of them are going to be blockbusters or anything major which evens out me being the only one able to do trades. Basically, I dont want to see half the league traded but at the same time, I dont take advantage of it either.
COACH FIRING
I have this set to off because I prefer to see Head Coaches stay with their current teams in game. I know that if this is turned on, it becomes way too much movement which I dont like. Basically, this is the coach version of trades which is why I have it off. Personally, I only hope that the Patriots and Saints HC retire but it doesnt always happen.
SCHEMES
I hate schemes and dont pay attention to it whatsoever and has no impact whatsoever in regards to how I play. The schemes screw up a lot of stuff which is why im playing with my own heavily edited roster.
CONTRACTS
Players who were re-signed or extended during the 2012 season (QB Matt Schaub and ILB James Laurinaitis for example) had their contracts adjusted. A lot of players overall had their contracts adjusted especially those who were rated 80 or higher as seeing these players become free agents annoyed me to no end. For the other 31 NFL teams, I used rotoworld.com for contract info.
For my 49ers, the 53 player roster is at least 95% accurate in terms of contracts. For 2012, I have only $350k in cap room. As of week one of the regular season, I only have $2.72m in cap room for 2013.
PRACTICE
I do play practice. Easy win to be exact. Honestly, if it wasnt for the XP, I would skip it all.
PRE-SEASON
I simulate pre-season every year and keep injuries off until week one of the regular season because I want every player to be fully healthy when the games matter. Also, I have injuries set at 100 so I dont want to see half the players in the league be gone for the season.
