Re: College Football Relegation (NCAA 2013)

2013 UALR Trojans
PRESEASON THOUGHTS
Our recruiting class was ranked #57 with the recruits coming in at an average overall of 63.89. This is a nice start to getting the program on track as the average overall for every player on the team last year was just 61. I think we should do good in the Sun Belt this year as Buffalo (last years champion) got promoted to Conference USA. We return all of our back field this year and will be lead by Rhett Poland.

SEASON THOUGHTS
We started the year off with a bang as we beat then #13 Arkansas 42-28, but we lost HB Rhett Poland for the year to a hip injury. By the end of the year the win did not look impressive as the Hogs finished 4-8, but it was a good way to kickoff the year as we got out to a 4-1 start before an 1-3 in the Sun Belt. We ended the year on a 3 game winning streak and to end out the regular season 8-4 and 4-3 in the Sun Belt and got invited to play against 6-5 Duke in the Armed Forces Bowl.

The National Championship game will be a rematch between #1 Oklahoma (who's only loss came against 9-3 Alabama) and #2 Notre Dame. The Irish lost to the Sooners 31-41 earlier in the season. Wisconsin held the top spot heading into the conference championship week and only needed to defeat #10 Michigan State to play in there second straight National Championship game but they were unable to be the Spartans and lost 20-24.

Much to my suprise Rhett Poland made it back just in time for our bowl game against Duke. The guy is just a battering ram and broke off a beautiful long touchdown run against the Blue Devils. We fought hard but two interceptions killed us and we lost 24-28.

Notre Dame avenged their loss earlier in the year to Oklahoma 27-20 and captured their 12th National Championship.

JOB NEWS
Following the season I got a job offer from the Louisville Cardinals to come coach in the Big 12. They finished last year 7-6 and are a 2* team so the contract has obtainiable goals to reach while trying to buid this team up. We did lose 24 players to start the offseason so there might be a drop off in the first year. Wow when I started the offseason recruiting period the previous staff had only signed 4 players!! I've got my work cut out for me on this two year contract.

RELEGATION NEWS
Tier 1 - Conference USA Champion FIU (10-3, 7-0) will replace Air Force (5-7, 2-6) in the Big East.
Tier 2 - MAC Champion Western Michigan (10-3, 7-1) will replace Memphis (1-11, 0-7) in Conference USA.
Tier 2 - WAC Champion UTEP (9-4, 6-1) will replace New Mexico(2-10, 1-6) in the Mountain West.
Realign - La.Tech, from the Mountain West, will switch spots with Air Force in Conference USA.
Realign - Memphis, from the MAC, will switch spots with UMass in the Sun Belt.

Re: College Football Relegation (NCAA 2013)

2014 Louisville Cardinals
PRESEASON THOUGHTS
Over the last two season the Cardinals have gone 10-15 overall (which is tied at 83rd in win% so far in the dynasty). We pulled the short end of the stick scheduling wise this season as we get our normal games against all the Heartland teams and our permanet cross divsion rival Cincinnati, but we also pulled the two best teams in the Prairie division Texas and TCU. When I signed on the previous staff only had four hard committs, we were able to bring in some solid kids and our class ended up being ranked #40 with the average player overall of 66.61. I think we should be able to win 6 games this year.

SEASON THOUGHTS
This season we were always so close to breaking through but it never happened. Going into the year I knew it would take a major upset to beat Oklahoma and Texas but the rest of the games I felt we had a chance in. We did lose to both the Sooners and Longhorns but our other four losses were by no more than a touchdown and we averaged lossing by only 4.5 points to Kentucky, SMU, TCU and Oklahoma State.

We finished out our year winning the Keg of Nails against rival Cincinnati 28-27. The victory moved us to 6-6 on the year and 4-5 in conference. We did not get a bowl invite.

#2 Iowa beat #1 Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship game to get in to the National Championship game against cinderella Wyoming. The Cowboys finished the regular season 12-0 and were the only unbeaten team in the country besides the Hawkeyes. With 1:26 left in the 4th quarter of the National Championship game Iowa marched down the field and went up 28-21 on a 7 yard run by Z. Jordan. It appeared that the Cowboys were done but they completed a 75 yard bomb with 0:15 left in regulation to put the game into overtime. Iowa got the ball first and settled for a 37 yard field goal and the Cowboys were able to score a touchdown on the ground to win their first National Championship 34-31.

JOB NEWS
After the season I got job offers from BYU, Syracuse, Colorado and Baylor. I am looking to build up Louisville until a offer from a more established program comes my way. We did lose both of our coordinators after the season as our OC got the head coaching job at Troy and our DC got the head coaching job at Ohio.

RELEGATION NEWS
Tier 1 - Mountain West Champion Wyoming (13-0, 7-0) will replace Temple (2-10, 1-7) in the Big East.
Tier 2 - MAC Champion Bowling Green (11-2, 8-0) will replace Tulane (0-12, 0-7) in Conference USA.
Realign - Western Kentucky, from the Sun Belt, will switch spots with Tulane in the MAC.
Realign - La. Tech, from Conference USA, will switch spots with Temple in the Mountain West.

Re: College Football Relegation (NCAA 2013)

Really like the idea of the promotion/relegation set up. I'm about to start mine up as an OC and work my way up. I got my set up from someone on another site, and its divided by regions, with 3 tiers. If I get it going in the next couple of days, ill start up a post.

I also like how you do yearly recaps instead of weekly I was doing weekly and would get burned out quickly. I may have to steal that idea from you.

The main reason I like to use a relegation setup for the midmajors is to offset the bad poll logic in the game. If a team can make it out of one of the Big 5 conferences (even a "poor" team ex. Indiana) unbeaten they have ran a gauntlet that should be rewarded with a National Championship game.

Some of the midmajors (in the default league setup) get an easy path to the National Championship beating absolutely no one. The current setup lessens this but you will still have one slip through. So far Wyoming did it in season 3, but besides them I have not even had a midmajor team crack the top 8 at any point in the season more less be in National Championship contention.

As for stealing the recap idea, press on . What you see in my recap posts and updating the first page of this thread with my yearly info, best programs, trophies etc take me about 30 minutes to generate the content. The weekly poll results, game result and record take less than 2 minutes to update. The progression, recruits and roster info are all auto generated with the program I wrote so they take less than 10 minutes to slap together.

That is the biggest thing I have found (some people love the creation of the weekly content, I don't) is I get burned out really quick playing a game then having to spend 45 minutes making content. I went and made templates so all I have to do is simply fill in some info and it is ready to go. I like the final product that is created and the process does not take me away from time I could be playing the game. I'd suggest playing around and perfecting the style of how you want your stuff to look then refine it. If the process is easy you will stick to it a lot better.

Personally I love looking back at my old seasons and dynasties and doing a yearly recap is a nice simple way to pull it off. Good luck.

That sounds like good logic. I like a system that's based on performance instead of what we currently have, which is revenue based. Plus, mine is divided up geographically, so conferences will actually make sense.

I need to sit down and plan out how I want to start mine. I'm a Bearcats fan, and I'm toying with the idea of creating a cupcake version and importing them from the aspect of an FCS school moving up. I want them to have a bigger stadium for the future, and develop their own rivalries. I like Philly's idea of a rivalry calculator, but was having trouble viewing it, so I'm going to creat my own.

Oh well, we'll see what comes out of it when I get around to it. I think I will go with the yearly recap instead of weekly. Like I said, that burns me out quickly, especially when no one responds and it seems like there is no interest. In the meantime, I'm subscribed to yours. Keep up the good work.

I want an encyclopedia of my season results and some info on how the season progressed. I make the recaps and videos for my personal enjoyment. If I have 20 people reading or none I would still be doing the same thing. Best advice I can give you is to create content that you want to keep a record of. Do it for yourself and your enjoyment and if people follow along it is a plus but not the main reason to do it.
