Re: TEAMBUILDER MAC DYNASTY: LA SALLE EXPLORERS (NCAA 13)
LA SALLE DEFENSE EMBARRASES LOUISVILLE AT PAPA JOHN'S
Cardinals get the upset axe at home, 28-38
Oct. 5, Louisville KY - The vaunted La Salle defense was put to a big test against a giant school and it passed beyond expectations. The Explorers stopped the Louisville Cardinals dead on their tracks with a 28-38 victory in front of a disappointed sell-out crowd at Papa John's Stadium.
La Salle forced four turnovers including two interceptions and a 6-yard returned fumble by Jason Lester off Jeremy Wright for a touchdown. Those turnovers pushed its total to eight this season and no# 8 in the country. The defense limited Teddy Bridgwater to a season low 201 yards passing with 45% completion though he kind of made up for it by rushing for 106 yards. Andre Howard, however, was comfortable as the Explorers showed no intimidation from the start. Howard passed for 277 yards with 2 touchdowns, the last one which was a 17-yarder to tight end Keith Levins pulled La Salle away, 35-14, wth 4:38 left. Though Louisville came back with two of its own, the distance was too much for the Cardinals offense to come back.
No intimidation from the start as Draymond West began scoring with this 12-yard touchdown run.
Jason Lester about to return a fumble after a big hit from James Ewing took down Jeremy Wright.

Re: TEAMBUILDER MAC DYNASTY: LA SALLE EXPLORERS (NCAA 13)
LA SALLE MAKES IT 5 STRAIGHT
Chippewas bow out at the end to the Explorers, 21-14
Oct. 12, Mt. Pleasant MI - It has the making of tough battle at the Kelly-Shorts Stadium as diehard Chippewas fans braved the rain but their thoughts of an upset came short. La Salle defeated Central Michigan in the end, 21-14, for its fifth straight victory this season after losing to the UAB Blazers on opening day.
La Salle banked on a late touchdown pass from Andre Howard to Brian Cruz to pull the Explorers up by 2 scores. Cody Kater drove the Central Michigan near the end zone and found tight end Connor Odykirk to get close with time down to 1:32. James Thibodeaux then grabbed possession in the ensuing onside kick to seal the win for the Explorers, who are now 3-0 in MAC-West.
Bryan Daniel stood out the biggest among the Explorers, again in place of starter Draymond West who left the game early in the first with back spasm, rushing for 97 yards in 18 carries with a touchdown. He later consummated a screen play for his second visit to the end zone. But it was Howard, who finished with only 192 passing yards, that had a scintillating 42-yard run late in the fourth. That long red zone scramble set up Cruz for the touchdown. La Salle plays the Ball State Cardinals, 0-2 at the MAC, on October 19 at the McCarthy Field.
Bryan Daniel shines again with his first of two visits to the end zone.
Meanwhile, in the battle of MAC-West heavyweights, Toledo maintained its dominance over Northern Illinois with a masterful 24-19 victory. Terrance Owens had two touchdown passes in the second quarter and the MAC champions Rockets used that big advantage while the Huskies failed to recover. In MAC-East, the Buffalo Bulls remained unbeaten after a comeback triumph over the Kent State Golden Flashes, 21-14. Alex Zordich scrambled and found Patrick Clarke on the end zone with 0:41 for the win.

Re: TEAMBUILDER MAC DYNASTY: LA SALLE EXPLORERS (NCAA 13)
LA SALLE DOWNS BALL STATE, IMPROVES WIN STREAK TO 6
West's 220 lifts Explorers over Cardinals, 23-10
Oct. 18, Philadelphia PA - Draymond West was unstoppable and the La Salle Explorers zoomed to their sixth consecutive victory. The Explorers improved to 6-1 this season at the expense of a hapless Ball State squad. The capacity crowd at the McCarthy Field was expecting a showdown between MAC's two premier running backs. They were delighted at the West spectacle, 220 yards in 34 carries with one touchdown.
Jahwan Edwards was hurt early and Keith Wenning took the cudgels for the Cadinals but was ineffective as the La Salle defense contained the star quarterback for three quarters. By the time Wenning dove Jack Tomlinson to the end zone with 5:35 remaining, La Salle was way ahead. Andre Howard had his own with a screen pass play to score West on the second quarter but was sacked thrice and intercepted once.
Draymond West gets help on this screen play enroute to a touchdown.
La Salle' next game promises to be a humdinger as the Explorers travel to DeKalb IL to meet the Northern Illinois Huskies at the Huskie Stadium on October 26. The Huskies came back after losing to the Toledo Rockets and routed the Western Michigan Broncos at the Waldo Stadium, 42-21, for a 5-2 record.
Meanwhile position requirement for a wide receiver was finally filled with the names of Tyrone Anderson, 6'0 from Tiffin OH, and Chris Johnson, 6'1 from Newark NJ. Both Anderson and Johnson were at the stands at the McCarthy Field as visitors, however speedy hopeful Kevin Lester of Pikeville KY remains uncommitted.
