Ravens clinch Playoff berth with 31-28 win

BALTIMORE -- A celebration four weeks in the making featured laughs and hugs, a surprise appearance by team owner Steve Bisciotti now all that is keep the Baltimore Ravens form being AFC North champions is a win at Cincinnati.

Joe Flacco had an up and down game, 2 of his 3 interceptions were returned for 14 of the Giants 28 point total, but he also threw 3 touchdowns for the Ravens.

"It feels good," said wide receiver Torrey Smith who scored a 94 yard touchdown in the game, "I'm just glad we finally got it done."

The Ravens (10-5) were bolstered cruised behind a short-handed defense that harassed quarterback Eli Manning and limited New York to 138 passing yards.

Manning did hit Victor Cruz late for an 84 yard touchdown that brought the Giants within three, but the Ravens recovered the ensuing onside kick to secure the win.

"It's about execution, man. It's a simple word, but it's a very tough task to do," said running back Ray Rice, who ran for 111 yards and a touchdown and caught eight passes for 57 yards.

"We know what's at stake. We want the AFC championship and it starts tonight," safety James Ihedigbo said. "We're not looking at regular season. Playoffs started for us and we're going to keep on playing."

Baltimore closes out the regular season against Cincinnati, a win gives them a second straight division title and a first round bye in the playoffs.

Ravens clinch AFC North, No. 1 seed, and eliminate Cincy from Playoff contention

CINCINNATI -- Standing in the raucous Ravens locker room, Torrey Smith slipped the AFC North Champions cap onto his head and tugged it tight.

"The hat fits great," the wide receiver decided.

Baltimore finished regular season on Sunday, beating the Cincinnati Bengals 20-16 for its 2nd straight AFC North title behind Joe Flacco's two long touchdown throws.

Not that Flacco had a great game, the two TD passes were Baltimore's only trips into the endzone, but his 4 picks kept the Bengals in the game until the end.

The Ravens (11-5) ran off the field with helmets raised in celebration, slipped into their championship shirts and caps, then headed home -- the only place they want to be at this time of the year.

Baltimore clinched the AFC's No. 1 seed, a first-round bye, and home field advantage.

The Ravens are in desperate need of the off week to heal. At this time the Baltimore injury report reads more like a Pro-Bowl Roster.

Courtney Upshaw, Terrell Suggs, Ed Reed, and Anquan Boldin all joined Ray Lewis on the injured list.

Upshaw should be able to recover from his broken ribs in time for the first playoff game in 2 weeks. Lewis and Reed may be back for the AFC Championship in the Ravens can get a win in the first game. Suggs and Boldin would stand an outside chance of being ready to return in time for the Super Bowl.

Conversely, Cincinnati needed a win to ensure a trip to the post season for the second straight year. The loss coupled with a Colts wins eliminated the Bengals from the playoff race.

Andy Dalton matched Flacco by throwing 4 interceptions, but was unable to generate much offense with the throws he did complete.
