The Minnesota Vikings (2-3) hit the road to take on the Washington Redskins (1-4) at FedEx Field on Sunday, October 14. This matchup marks the 3rd consecutive season the Vikings and Redskins have met, with all 3 contests being played in Washington.

A pair of former Vikings DBs, Cedric Griffin and Madieu Williams, currently play for the Redskins. As a member of the Vikings, Griffin received the 2010 Ed Block Courage award after battling back from significant injuries. During his tenure in Minnesota, Williams earned the 2010 Walter Payton Man of the Year award for his service to the community. Williams also served as the Vikings spokesman for United Way in 2009.

Vikings Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave spent the 2005 season with the Redskins coaching QBs. Musgrave tutored Washington QB Mark Brunell to a career-best 23 TDs, helping Washington earn a playoff berth and capture their last playoff win, a road victory over Tampa Bay.

Vikings vs. Redskins Series Notes

• The Vikings and Redskins have played 21 times overall with Washington holding a 11-10-0 series record.
• The Redskins own the advantage in the regular season series. The teams have met 21 previous times in the regular season with the Redskins holding an edge at 11-10-0. The two teams have met 5 times in the postseason with Washington holding a 3-2 advantage.
• The last time the Vikings and Redskins met was in Week 16 of 2011 at FedEx Field, a Vikings 33-26 win.

• The Vikings are currently 6-5 against the Redskins at Washington. Minnesota has won the last 3 games at Washington.
• The Vikings have won 3 of the past 4 games between the two teams.

Re: Restoring the Purple Pride - A Minnesota Vikings dynasty (M13)

After playing my game against the Redskins (next update), I realized Christian Ponder might not the quarterback for the Vikings in this dynasty. I'm already thinking off season when it comes to quarterback.

SNOOZE-FEST WAKES UP IN 4TH AS VIKINGS BEAT REDSKINS

MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- The Minnesota Vikings recorded back to back wins for the first time this season as the Vikings beat RGIII and the Washington Redskins 19-13 to move to 3-3. This comes despite the fact quarterback Christian Ponder only completed 46% of his passes for less than 150 yards and two interceptions.

The game was a snooze-fest throughout the first 3 quarters as a battle between the placekickers emerging with both converting two field goal attempts as the game was locked 6-6 as we headed into the 4th quarter. The only excitement was the interceptions from both quarterbacks.

However, in the 4th quarter, the game came alive and the drama began. Early in the 4th quarter, RGIII nailed Pierre Garcon over the middle for a 41 yard touchdown reception to put the Redskins up 13-7. However, the Vikings replied as backup running back Toby Gerhart was given a chance to shine in the redzone as he recorded a touchdown on a short carry to tie the game.

The Redskins then took the ball into the Vikings half before failing to convert on 4th down giving the Vikings the chance to capitalize. However, Christian Ponder threw an interception to Brian Orakpo. But the Redskins couldn't take advantage of that, as kicker John Kasay missed from 51 yards. Minnesota then went back up the field and Adrian Peterson ran in from 14 yards to give the Vikings a 19-13 win after they failed to convert the 2 point attempt.

Re: Restoring the Purple Pride - A Minnesota Vikings dynasty (M13)

HOME INVASION - 49ERS LOSE TO GIANTS AT HOME

Rush To Greatness - 200 yards rushing against New Mexico has scouts intrigued by dual-threat Donte Calloway out of UNLV.

Fueling The Offense - Nobody should worry about Larry Fitzgerald's conditioning as he looked quite good while amassing 156 yards receiving on the day.

Sweltering Situation - It was an incredibly close game this week in Tennessee. So close in fact that it took overtime before the Titans were finally able to get the 27-21 win.

Home Invasion - The 49ers failed to get a win at home versus the visiting Giants, going down 24-17.

Scott Wright @ScottWrightEA: Can't stop Donte Calloway's ground game. Pump fake and run. Did it to the tune of 200 yards vs. New Mexico.

Donny Moore @Donny_Moore: Two things are certain this wk...1) M.Kendricks is not playing like a rook 2) Somebody getting some Madden Ratings love in the...

Trey Wingo @WingozEA: Never discount the value of winning a game on the road. Never discount the pain of losing at home.

LaVarr Arrington @LaArringtonEA: L. Fitzgerald was really helping to drive the Cardinals offense in this one.

Trey Wingo @WingozEA: Carson Palmer did a great job throwing TDs this week. #fantasy

Mark Schlereth @MarkSchlerethEA: Wish I'd been in the crowd for this one. Home fans exiting in joyous droves. #Titans

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefterEA: Adrian Peterson-led ground and pound pushes Vikings past Redskins.
