Re: Ready For Miami? Dolphins CCM (M13)

Heartbreaking overtime loss for the Dolphins, 37-39

An overtime safety decided the loser between the Dolphins and the Jets. In this game Miami secondary was almost completely absent, except for one guy: Sean Smith. The 6'3'' cornerback intercepted not one, not two but THREE passes in this game, returning the first of them for a touchdown giving the Dolphins the lead in the 3rd quarter, just after a touchdown pass to rookie tigh end Michael Engnew.

Rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill looked pretty good, not turning the ball over and throwing for 200+ yards, 2 touchdown and completing a 2pt conversion. Reggie Bush fumbled the ball again in this game, 4th fumble in 3 games, and left the field later with a broken jaw. Tigh end Anthony Fasano also left the game due to a partial ACL tear. "I really hope the best for both of them" coach Foster said "But first me and Reggie should have a little conversation.." This commet was definetly referred to all these fumbles the runningback has caused just three games into the season, and most of them where really costly.

On the other side of the field, Mark Sanchez, despite getting intercepted 3 times, threw the ball for 450+ yards and 4 touchdowns! Probably no one was expecting a game like this..or maybe they were? In fact, many people had concerns about Miami secondary, where the only impact players are Smith and Reshad Jones. The others are just average players. Nolan Carroll was targeted all day, and two of the four touchdowns by Sanchez came because of him, the last of them helped the Jets to tie the game and push the game in overtime, where they won forcing a safety tackling runningback Marcus Thigpen in the edzone, who also ran the football back for a touchdown during a kickoff in the 4th quarter.

The question now is: if Sanchez can throw for 4 touchdown and more than 400 yards, how can the Dolphins even think to stop Tom brady and the Patriots receivers? Or Andrew Luck, Andy Dalton and Russel Wilson, who are also on their schedule this year?

For now, Miami must focus on his next game, on the road against the 2-1 Cardinals led by Kevin Kolb, who already passed for 800 yards, 8 touchdown and only 4 interceptions this season.

Dolphins Injury Report

R. Starks (DT), Forearm Fracture: 3 Weeks
S. Hill (DT), Broken Collarbone: 1 Weeks
R. Bush (HB), Broken Jaw: 2 Weeks
A. Fasano (TE), Partial ACL Tear: 3 Weeks

The Dolphins lost probably their best offensive weapons in runningback Reggie Bush and tigh end Anthony Fasano. We also heard that, even after he recovers from the inkury, it's not sure that the star runningback will still take the starting job. "I talked with Reggie, and I made it clear that it's on the right track to lose the job. I don't care if he can rush 1000 yards in a game, turnovers make the difference, and he already gave up four. That's unacceptable." The coach also said that trading the runningback its not in their plans..for now. After the poor performance in the last game, cornerback Nolan Carroll will now play as the 5th cornerback and special teams, while Kevin Barnes will take his place as the 4th cornerback. Because of the injury of Fasano, the Dolphins shuffled the depth chart a bit. Michael Egnew will be the no.1 tigh end and Charles Clay will be the starting fullback. Wide receiver Mike Williams will play as the 2nd tigh end and fullback Jorvorskie Lane as the 3rd. Brian Hartline and Davone Bess moved to 1st and 2nd spot at wide receiver. "Mike is big enough to play tigh end and Hartline has shown that he can do something as a starter. Lane didn't impress me at all as a fullback, while Clay, who already played fullback for the team last season, is a way better option."

Other Stuff
  • Jake Long and the Dolphins have agreed on a 5-year contract extension worth $60.0M.
  • HB Rashard Mendenhall and the Steelers apparently were not seeing eye to eye as a contract offer by the team was rejected.
  • Indianapolis Colts have signed celebrated outside linebacker Dwight Freeney to a 5-year contract extension worth $46.2M.
  • The Ravens have decided to re-sign FS Ed Reed to a 3-year deal worth $25.2.
  • MLB Brian Urlacher has rejected a new contract offer from the Bears. Is he on his way out the end of his contract?
  • Star WR Andre Johnson is now out for the season beacuse of a Pectoral Tear.
Draft Stories
  • Colorado HB Mark Wood gained 200 yards in a big win over Nevada. He impressed scouts with his ability to run over defenders with his 255-pound frame.

Re: Ready For Miami? Dolphins CCM (M13)

Failed comeback, Dolphins lose 33 to 36 in Arizona

This will be probably remembered as the worst week of the season. The game started well, with the game tied 10-10 after a fumble return for a touchdown by safety Chris Clemons and a 74 touchdown pass to Larry Fitzgerald, who caught the short throw and run all the way into the endzone thanks to the blocks by the other receivers. Then, injuries started. Both Miami's starting safety, Clemons and Reshad Jones, went down with injuries that will keep them out of the game for 2 and 6 weeks respectively. Than cornerback Dimitri Patterson went down and later receiver Mike Wallace. Probably this was also the reason why the Dolphins lost, because Larry Fitzgerald just did whatever he wanted against the backup safeties, not because their too bad, but who do you think will win if you put a young backup against an elite receiver like him? This game was all Fitzgerald. "We'll need some drastic roster changes after this game, that's all I know".

The Dolphins were losing 33 to 10 in the 3rd quarter, when Ryan Tannehill decided that he had enough. On third down the quarterback steped back in the pocket and saw the right part of the field completely free, so he took off and run for the touchdown, diving and getting hit hard into the air, but still falling into the endzone for the touchdown., followed by a succesfull 2pt conversion. This was the spark that gave the Dolphins new life.

After stopping the Cardinals, the offense drove again down the field led by the rookie quarterback and by runningbacks Marcus Thigpen (benched in the middle of the 2nd quarter because of 3 FUMBLES!) and rookie Lamar Miller. In the redzone, Tannehill found Brian Hartline open and completed a 7 yard touchdown pass, decreasing the lead to 8 points. Kicker Jay Feely will kick a field goal in the 4th quarter, putting Arizona up by 11, but with 3 minutes remaining the rookie quarterback threw a long pass to Hartline again, for a 33 yards touchdown.

With Miami down by 3, all they needed was to stop the Cardinals and kick at least a field goal. Arizona went 3 and out, but then managed to stop the Dolphins on their 44 yards. It's fourth and one. Tannehill drops back in the pocket, looks, can't find anybody open, tries to scramble, throws a short pass just before being sack, Miller catches it...and he is tackles short of the first down marker.

The dolphins almost completed an incredible comeback, but they fell just one yard short of tying the game. "When things like this happen there's not much tyou can do" said Tannehill "I did my best and I know that my teamates also did. We can just move on and look forward to the next game.."

Talking about the next game, it will be on the road against the 2-2 Bengals. Cincinnati is come off a 35-24 loss against the Jaguars and are looking to bounce back from that, but they will be without runningback Benjarvus Green-Ellis and guard Travelle Wharton. Let's see if the Dolphins can manage those injuries and break this 2 game losing streak.

Yeah it sucks..But after both Clemons and Jones went down there wasn't much to do. My backup safeties are both 69 overall. I'll probably look into free agency for the next game.

NFC Defensive Player of the Week

AFC Offensive Player of the Week

Dolphins Injury Report

R. Starks (DT), Forearm Fracture: 2 Weeks
R. Jones (SS), Broken Collarbone: 5 Weeks
R. Bush (HB), Broken Jaw: 1 Week
A. Fasano (TE), Partial ACL Tear: 2 Weeks
C. Clemons (FS), Broken Ribs: 3 Weeks
D. Patterson (CB) Forearm Fracture: 4 Weeks (IR)
M. Williams (WR) Broken Ribs: 1 Week

After all the injuries suffered in the game against the cardinals, Miami had to mage the roster in the best way they could. First of all, they placed cornerback Dimitri Patterson on IR, giving them roster space to sign cornerback Pat Lee from free agency to boost the secondary. They also released defensive tackle Sammie Hill and then signed veteran safety Will Allen to fill the hole left by Chris Clemons. And to conclude, they released rookie safety Kelcie McCray and signed Bob Sanders (hopefully he can stay healthy for at least 3 weeks, when Clemons will come back). "We did all we could do" said coach Foster "Now it's up to the players." When asked about the runningback situation, the coach said that rookie Lamar Miller will start the next game. "I just need someone that can hold on to the football, and Thigpen it's just a bad copy of Reggie Bush."

Other Stuff
  • Patrick Willis will be back in action after being sidelined by an injury sustained earlier in the season.
  • The Dolphins and Brian hartline were able to negotiate and settle on a new 6-year contract extension worth $12.9M.
  • The Dolphins went after Bob Sanders, feeling they needed to add some depth on defense.
  • The 49ers, the Broncos (both 4-0) and the Colts (3-0) are the only undefeated teams so far.
Draft Stories
  • UCF MLB Dan Dugan is a powerfully build plugger who enjoys long walks in the park and pancaking offensive guards.
  • Boston College DT Connor Murphy collected three sacks from the three-technique in his first start after emergin as a wal-on senior.
