Re: Return to Prominence - A San Francisco 49ers CCM - Madden NFL 13

QUARTERBACK UPDATE:

Despite being cleared by team doctors after returning from a dislocated elbow that caused him to miss the last two games, it was QB Colin Kaepernick who participated in all of the starting snaps in the final practice heading into the Jets game in two days time. After the final practice session was completed, head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed that Kaepernick would start at QB for the third straight game while Alex Smith will return from injury as the backup QB. Four touchdowns and no turnovers was just too much for Harbaugh to ignore and as he said after practice..."Kaepernick is (49er) red hot and there's no reason to cool him off". Kaepernick is 21/33 for 381 yards and 4 touchdowns in his first two NFL career starts.

With former starter Alex Smith now the backup, rumors are running rampant that Smith could be traded before the week eight trade deadline. When asked about these rumors, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh declined to comment.

Fair enough but let's be honest, its not the sliders...:P

Just kidding. After testing and playing this game so much, I have realized that its the game itself thats the problem. Not the sliders or the people playing the game. Quite simply, its so unbalanced that its funny. Game usually ends up being too easy or too hard. After months, im hoping that I have finally found a balance for me.

Re: Return to Prominence - A San Francisco 49ers CCM - Madden NFL 13

49ers and Jets put on an offensive show, combining for 88 points and over 1000 total yards as the game went into OT with the 49ers winning 47-41 on a 2 yard TD run by Frank Gore

What an exciting, heart pounding, back and forth offensive thriller!!! The 49ers went into the Jets game 3-0 and after leading 17-7 in the second quarter, were looking to blowout the Jets but what they got instead was a team that didnt give up and gave the 49ers one hell of a fight. Jets scored on a Holmes 18 yard TD reception which closed the gap to 17-14 with 0:41 seconds left until halftime. After the ensuing kickoff, the 49ers were aggressive, too aggressive and it came back to bite them as Kaepernick threw his first interception of his NFL career and the Jets took advantage by scoring a FG with 0:12 seconds left until halftime. A kickoff return and kneel down later, we're at halftime with the game tied at 17-17.

Second half...49ers receive the opening kickoff and drive down the field and eventually score on a Frank Gore 1 yard TD run to give the 49ers the lead, 24-17. Ensuing possession, Sanchez gets intercepted by CB Perrish Cox (who was playing for the injured Chris Culliver) who returns it 39 yards for a TD which gave the 49ers a 31-17 lead with 4:21 left in the third quarter. Now with the ball, the Jets dont give up as they drive down the field and eventually score a touchdown as Sanchez found Holmes for a 17 yard TD reception which closed the gap to 31-24.

After an Akers FG that gave the 49ers a 34-24 lead with 6:33 left in regulation, the Jets get a huge play from RB Bilal Powell who avoids the blitz and runs 56 yards for a touchdown and cuts the 49ers lead to three points, 34-31. After the 49ers had to punt, the Jets once again went down the field to eventually score yet another touchdown as Sanchez found Holmes for the third time with a 4 yard TD pass. This gave the Jets the lead, 38-34 with 1:56 left in regulation.

With less than two minutes remaining, Kaepernick drives the 49ers down the field and connects with Davis for a 48 yard TD reception which gave the 49ers 41-28 lead with 0:35 seconds remaining in regulation. After being sacked by Aldon Smith and facing a 4th and 18 in their own territory, Sanchez throws a deep bomb on the right sideline to Kerley who made a spectacular diving catch at the 5 yard line beating Rogers and Whitner. At this point, Jim Harbaugh is going nuts as he wanted the play to be reviewed because Kerley looked to land out of bounds first with his feet and also looked to step out of bounds and then come back onto the field of play to make the spectacular diving catch. 49ers take their second timeout to not only ice Folk but to also hope for a booth review that never came.

After trying to ice Folk, he connects on a short FG sending the game into OT, tied at 41-41. Now in overtime, the 49ers won the coin toss and receive. Quite simply, Kaepernick doesnt play around as he quickly drives the team down the field all the way to inside the Jets one yard line after a Kyle Williams catch and run down the left sideline. On first and goal, Gore gets stuffed on the outside for a loss, making it second and goal at the Jets two yard line. Second and goal, Gore runs up the middle for a 2 yard TD run and gives the 49ers their second OT win of the season as they amazingly stay undefeated and improve to 4-0.

Game Notes
After being on the road the last two weeks, the 49ers return to San Francisco for a three game home stand. It starts this week against the visiting Buffalo Bills who are a surprising 3-1 after upsetting the Patriots last week. 49ers are coming off their second overtime win of the season as they defeated the Jets, 47-41. After four games, the 49ers defense is nowhere near what it was in 2011. Can they get back to what they were a year ago during their three game home stand? We'll find out this Sunday.
