Reynolds comes on board...

“I gotta know, Kid, are you in or out? Feels like I am giving you one helluva shot here…you gonna take it or what?”

“Chap, I gotta know that this is going to go someplace. Edsall says that you are looking for a nice quiet place to go and hide…maybe hang out for a few years before you retire. I gotta know that ain’t the case.”

“If you think that I really give two craps about what Edsall thinks, then maybe you aren’t what I thought you were…if you don’t know me any better than that, well, if you don’t know my any better than that then this deal will never work. Take care of yourself, Kid.”

“Chrissakes, Chap, take it easy will ya? Didn’t say that I believed it, just repeated what was said to me. All I wanna know is that I’m not going to be coaching football in the Colonial for the next 15 years of my life.”

“You’re a grown man and this is America…you can leave whenever you want. But if you think that my goal is to stay in the Colonial then don’t even bother coming down here. I wanna win BCS Titles just as dang bad as you do.”

“That’s all I wanted to hear…when do I start?”

“Yesterday…”

Feel free to join in...

I guess that pretty much sets the backdrop for the Dynasty. Took a little longer than I would have liked. Thanks for all of the views...feel free to post and join in.
Quick Note on how I use the role of Defensive Coordinator. I set some of the preferences and agression slider under Coach Options...then I let the computer call the D from there. I actually call all of the offensive plays.

Penn State press conference

“First off, credit to Penn State. They have some great players, executed well, and put us in some spots that we didn’t want to be in. There is a reason they are ranked #13 in the country and I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t be in the thick of things at the end of the season.”

“I thought that our guys played hard. We played well at times, poorly at others, but overall I thought we played hard and competed and that is nice to see. As a coach, especially a new coach, you never know for sure what you are going to see your first time out. I think that we have a long way to go to get where we want to be, but I also thought we saw some good things that we can build off of.”

“Coach, Hayes to Rawlins four times today for scores…is that something you can comment on?”

“Not sure what you want me to say there. We knew that combination was dangerous coming in and still couldn’t stop it…hell, we didn’t even slow it down. Credit to them though, they did a nice job of moving Rawlins around in formations and creating some matchups that were obviously in their favor.”

“The decision to go for it on 4thand goal rather can kick a field goal near the end of the 1st half…any regrets?”

“Sure, I regret not calling a better play and getting the score but I sure as hell don’t regret going for it. We are down something like 24-7 at that point…touchdown gets us back to 24-14. That sounded better to me than 24-10…you gotta get TDs when you have the chance. If we didn’t make it, they would be pinned deep in their own end. Turns out they stuff us and then drive the length of the field to punch in another one right before half. Hindsight is always 20/20, but no regrets about going for it in that situation.”

“Coach, you have to be pleased with the play of Givens. 189 yards against a Big 10 defense…”

“Absolutely. I mentioned earlier that I thought we found some things we could build off of. Our rushing attack is definitely one of them. We were able to catch them in some bad matchups a couple of times…just weren’t able to do it enough or slow them down when we needed to.”

Post Pitt loss

Cripes! If you would have told me that we could run up 45 points on Pitt a couple ofdays ago, I would have kissed you on the mouth and grabbed your *** with both hands!!! Never in my life did I see us giving up 63!!! Especially after holding PennState under 40! Dang special teams play killed us. Look for us to rework that Kickoff Team this week in practice.

Happy as heck with the play of our offense though! Givens, gotta keep this kid healthy for when it counts in the conference, but he has ripped off 423 in two games against quality BCS competition! Did NOT see that coming.

Roster thoughts...

“Whatcha thinkin’, Chap? You’ve been staring at the same stack of papers for about 15 minutes…dang near burned ahole through ‘em.”

"I think we need more kids from Pennsylvania.”

“Seriously? We are 0-2, giving up 50 a game, and you are thinking we need more kids from Pennsylvania?”

“Yep. We are a team from Pennsylvania and we don’t have a single kid from our own state on our roster. Can you tell me how in the hell a team from Pennsylvania does not have a single kid from Pennsylvania on it?!?!”

"No, no I can’t….but I can bet that we are going to do something about that…aren’t we?"

"God dang right we are! We are going to build this program like a Big 10 team with kids from Big 10 states…and that starts with Pennsylvania."

2008: Game 3 vs Rutgers

Villanova, PA - It isn't very often that a kicker and a sophomore outside linebacker are the keys to a victory, but that's exactly what helped get the Wildcats into the WIN Column today at Villanova Stadium. Alonzo Williams kicked 5 FGs and Mike Bryant intercepted 4 passes as Villanova downed Rutgers 36-30. Rutgers QB DeMarcus Castillo passed for more than 400 yards, but the rsSR couldn't stop throwing the ball to Villanova's Bryant. The SO outside linebacker actually had a 5th interception to stop a Scarlet Knights' late 2pt conversion. The victory, Coach Chaplin's 1st, moves the Wildacts to 1-2 on the season.
