Preseason Game 4: Buccaneers @ Redskins

This one was a shoot out. If one thing has become apparent in the preseason, it is that the Buccaneers defense is a gambling defense and sometimes that is going to mean they come up big- 6 sacks vs the Patriots and sometimes that means they are going give up the big play- giving up 27 points and over 400yds to the Redskins.

Fortunately Coach Joslin's moves on offense seem to be working and Tampa Bay was able to respond with a 500yd+ game of their own and put up 38 points to win this one.

The Buccaneers leave the preseason undefeated. Now can they keep it up?

Apparently Skip Bayless isn't convinced

Twitter: Momentum is an overblown narrative. Buccaneers going 4-0 in the preseason doesn't mean anything.

Re: Buccaneers Dynasty (Madden 13 Offline CCM)

Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 1

The Bucs won the toss and decided to receive. They looked to be driving to a TD, when QB Josh Freeman was picked off by FS Sherod Martin.

CAR 0 TB 0 in the 1st

The Panthers moved down the field, but a 3rd down stop forced a 44yd FG by K Graham Gano.

CAR 3 TB 0 in the 2nd

QB Josh Freeman and Tampa Bay can't get anything going and have to punt. Fortunately the defense steps up and forces the Panthers to punt as well.

With the air attack falling flat, Coach Joslin turns to rookie RB Doug Martin. He looks good. Moving the Bucs into the redzone as time ticks off the clock. With less than 2 minutes left in the half, Tampa Bay looks set to take the lead. Then they don't. Three runs by Martin brings the Buccaneers to a 4th and 1 at the 3yd line. Coach Joslin decides to go for it, rather than take the gimme FG. HB Martin is tackled behind the line of scrimmage.

The Panthers take over and don't waste anytime to take it to the Buccaneers. HB Jonathon Stewart takes the ball and goes right up the middle. MLB David Harris has him, but then Stewart pulls free and goes 94yds for the TD!

CAR 10 TB 0 in the 2nd

With 16 seconds left on the clock, the Buccaneers get the ball back down by 10pts. Needless to say, it looks grim. QB Josh Freeman is in the shotgun, he sees WR Mike Williams has separation and throws. Williams has it on his fingertips, but bobbles it as he goes out of bounds. No catch. With 10 seconds on the clock, Freeman is going to need to go long if Tampa Bay is going to get any points.

Freeman drops back, dodges OLB James Anderson and sees WR Terrell Owens has a step on his man. Freeman hurls it and Owens has it. MLB Beason can't keep up and Owens is gone. WR Terrell Owens goes 70yds for the TD to end the half!

CAR 10 TB 7 at the half

Neither team can get anything going in the third.

The Panthers have been relying on their run game all day and with the Buccaneers wearing down, they start to see it pay off. HB Jonathon Stewart gets his 2nd TD.

CAR 17 TB 7 with 2:35 left in the game

Phil Simms will not shut up about how it is over for the Buccaneers. QB Josh Freeman and HB Doug Martin have other ideas. HB Martin does a lot of the work on the ground and after making a crucial 4th down conversion, QB Freeman hits FA WR Kellen Winslow for a 12yd TD!

CAR 17 TB 14 with 1:06 seconds left in the game

The Buccaneers have to go for the onside kick. Despite the ball rolling around on the ground for what seems like forever, Tampa can't come up with it.

Carolina is content to run out the clock with runs up the middle, hoping that rookie HB Tauren Poole will get a first down and put this one out of reach. No such luck. The Buccaneers defense steps up and Poole can't get a 1st down. The Bucs used all of their timeouts to keep the clock from running out, but it was worth it.

The Panthers send K Graham Gano out to kick a FG, but it goes wide left.

The Buccaneers get the ball back with 42 seconds left. QB Josh Freeman hits WR Mike Williams for a 20yd catch, but can't get out of bounds. Next he goes to WR Vincent Jackson and grabs another 30yds, but can't get out of bounds either. With the clock running down from 8 seconds QB Josh Freeman drops back, he sees WR Terrell Owns open over the middle, and throws. It looks like Tampa Bay will pull this one out. The clock hits zero and then MLB Jon Beason jumps up and intercepts the ball.

It's all over, the Buccaneers lose a heartbreaker!

CAR 17 TB 14 Final

Statistics

TB QB Josh Freeman 7/19 for 208yds 2 TDs, 2 INTs
CAR QB Cam Newton 4/5 for 30yds

TB RB Doug Martin 16 runs for 95yds
CAR RB Jonathon Stewart 15 runs for 180yds 2TDs

TB WR Terrell Owens 1 catch for 70yds, TD
TB WR Mike Williams 2 catches for 57yds
CAR WR S. Smith 2 catches for 18yds
CAR WR A. Edwards 1 catch for 8yds

TB OLB Lavonte David 4 tackles, 2 TFL
TB CB Prince Amukamar 5 tackles
CAR FS Sherod Martin 4 tackles, Int
CAR MLB Jon Beason 1 tackle, TFL, Int

Mike Hill- Nail biter in Tampa Bay ends with Carolina on top. Best game of the week.

Re: Buccaneers Dynasty (Madden 13 Offline CCM)

Buccaneers @ Giants
Week 2

After a heartbreaking loss last week, Tampa Bay looks to get on track versus New York.

This game is a reunion of sorts as Coach Joslin was part of Tom Coughlin's staff when Coughlin coached the expansion Panthers. We will see if the pupil can surpass the master.

The Bucs win the toss and opt to get the ball first in the 2nd half.

The Giants move down the field methodically, picking apart the Buccaneers defense with both run and pass. This could get ugly. QB Eli Manning ends the drive with a flourish when he hits WR Victor Cruz on a post route and Cruz does the rest, going 55yds for a TD!

NYG 7 TB 0 in the 1st

The Bucs turn to their ground game to respond. Rookie HB Doug Martin is finding lots of room on the outside and he dives in the endzone to tie this one up.

NYG 7 TB 7 going into the 2nd

The Buccaneers defense bends but doesn't break, forcing the Giants to punt.

Tampa Bay relies on a mix of passing and rushing to get close, but once they get into the redzone the Giants put the brakes on the Tampa offense. With time dwindling down in the half, Coach Joslin opts for the easy points and sends in K Connor Barth for the 30yd FG. Barth hits the upright and it bounce out! No points. Coach Joslin is not happy.

The Giants settle for running out the clock to take this one to the half with the score tied.

NYG 7 TB 7 at the half

The Buccaneers get the ball to start the 2nd half and they look sharp as they move down the field. QB Josh Freeman hits WR Vincent Jackson on a Go route when he gets behind the zone coverage. With one man to beat, Jackson spins and leaves SS Kenny Phillips grasping at air. TD Tampa Bay!

NYG 7 TB 14 in the 3rd

The Buccaneers defense looks good, when SS Devin McCourty sacks QB Eli Manning forcing the Giants into a 3rd and 17.

The Giants respond with a pass underneath to TE Martellus Bennett, who breaks two tackles to get the first down. From there the Bucs looked rattled and the Giants finish the drive with a 2yd TD by FB Henry Hynoski.

NYG 14 TB 14 in the 4th

The Bucs get the ball back with most of the 4th quarter left to play. The Giants aren't allowing anything to happen on the ground, so Coach Joslin turns to QB Josh Freeman and Freeman doesn't disappoint. Freeman moves the team right to the goal line, but a sack by DE Justin Tuck leaves them at 3rd and 7. QB Freeman shakes it off and hits TE Kellen Winslow for a 7yd TD.

NYG 14 TB 21 in the 4th

The Giants look to continue the back and forth battle they've been fighting all day, but the Buccaneers defense won't allow it. The Bucs come up with a sack by Dime Back Kelly Jennings to force a 4th and 7. The Giants have to go for it and come up short when Coach Joslin sends SS Devin McCourty on the blitz. He flies in uncovered and sacks QB Eli Manning. Buccaneers ball.

Tampa Bay knows that they've got to get some first downs to run the clock and after a few close calls, they manage to get just outside of the redzone with time running out, when the Giants force a 4th down. Coach Joslin sends in K Connor Barth to redeem himself and put this one out of reach. Barth hits the 36yd FG!

NYG 14 TB 24 Final!

Statistics

TB QB Josh Freeman 7/11 for 189yds 2TDs
NYG QB Eli Manning 7/11 for 161yds TD

TB RB Doug Martin 21 runs for 126yds TD
NYG RB Ahmad Bradshaw 11 runs for 46yds

TB WR Vincent Jackson 3 catches for 123yds TD
TB WR Mike Williams 2 catches for 40yds
NYG WR Victor Cruz 3 catches for 98yds TD
NYG TE Martellus Bennett 2 catches for 38yds

TB SS Devin McCourty 6 tackles, Assist, 2 TFL, 2 Sacks
NYG OLB Michael Boley 4 tackles, TFL
NYG DT Linval Joseph 3 tackles, 2 TFL
TB DT Albert Haynesworth 3 tackles, TFL

Ross Tucker- Every win away from your home stadium is a huge win. This is a huge win.

Mike Hill- The passer rating is like calculus to me, but kudos to J. Freeman for being nearly perfect. #Buccaneers

Re: Buccaneers Dynasty (Madden 13 Offline CCM)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

It is confirmed, the Buccaneers have cut C Scott Mruczkowski to make room under the cap and on the roster for C Will Montgomery.

Mruczkowki was picked up in the preseason to challenge starter Jeremy Zuttah, but never took the job.

Montgomery was drafted by the Panthers in 2006, but played the last 4 years with the Redskins. It is unclear why the Redskins cut Montgomery. They have replaced him with FA Jeff Faine and former Buccaneers backup Ted Larsen.

Montgomery is expected to given an opportunity to start.

In other personnel news, K Connor Barth and the Buccaneers seem to be unable to come to an agreement over a new contract. Barth felt the Buccaneers were low balling him. Barth's agent said that he doesn't plan on meeting with the Bucs again and his client will test the Free Agent market at the end of the season.

Center Scott Mruczkowski was released today from the Buccaneers. Team quoted as "wanting to go in a different direction."

Adam Schefter- C S. Mruczkowski is looking for a new home after being cut by the Buccaneers.

Chris Mortensen- So take Will Montgomery off the FA market. He's signed 1-year deal with Buccaneers.

Robert Flores- What was C. Barth's Wonderlic score? Maybe he couldn't do the math to realize this is the best deal he's getting.

Re: Buccaneers Dynasty (Madden 13 Offline CCM)

Week 3
Buccaneers (1-1) @ Cowboys (0-2)

The Buccaneers are hoping for another win when they travel to Dallas this week, but the Cowboys have an awful lot of talent and they are going to be playing angry after losing the last two weeks.

The Cowboys start with the ball and it only takes them two plays to score. DAL HB DeMarco Murray busts a 45yd run, then QB Tony Romo finishes it off with a 30yd strike to an oddly uncovered WR Miles Austin.

DAL 7 TB 0 in the 1st

The Buccaneers respond with a great kickoff return by HB LaRod Stephens-Howling and then a 62yd TD pass to former Cowboy WR Terrell Owens. That's right, you better get your popcorn out. This one is going to be a shoot out.

DAL 7 TB 7 after only 1:34 minutes expired

The Cowboys immediately kill Tampa's enthusiasm when WR Cole Beasley takes a short pass over the middle, shakes a tackle and goes 77yds for another Dallas TD! A mike on the sidelines caught this response from Coach Joslin "Cole Friggin' Beasley, a rookie out of SMU just burned us for a 77yd TD! You have got to be kidding me!"

DAL 14 TB 7 still in the 1st

Tampa Bay decides to slow the game down before this one gets out of control and turns to HB Doug Martin. He does not disappoint. The first quarter ends on a Doug Martin TD run.

DAL 14 TB 14 in the 2nd

The Buccaneers defense steps up next and forces Dallas to punt. The Bucs give it right back when QB Josh Freeman is intercepted by FS Gerald Sensabaugh.

QB Romo moves the ball, but in the end they can't make a crucial 3rd down conversion when they need it. Dallas punts again.

Tampa Bay moves the ball efficiently but after a booth review a crucial 3rd down conversion is turned over. The refs rule that WR Mike Williams was out of bounds. Tampa kicks a 47yd FG.

DAL 14 TB 17 in the 2nd

Dallas gets the ball back with 1:46 minutes left in the half. They decide to try to move the ball on the ground, but a big time tackle by MLB David Harris forces a punt with 23 seconds left on the clock.

The Buccaneers decide to go for the long pass on 1st down, and the Cowboys are taken completely by surprise. WR Terrell Owens is completely uncovered racing down the middle of the field. QB Josh Freeman heaves it, Owens bobbles it, but finally pulls it in and goes into the endzone for a Bucs TD.

DAL 14 TB 24 to end the half

The Buccaneers start with the ball in the third quarter, but the Cowboys Defense is playing like their jobs depend on winning this one. They come up big with a sack by ROLB DeMarcus Ware forcing Tampa Bay to punt.

The Cowboys offense takes their cue and moves the ball down the field. That's when LBs David Harris and Lavonte David step up with two big sacks, forcing Dallas to try for a 51yd FG. They make it!

DAL 17 TB 24 in the 3rd

Tampa Bay just needs to hold onto the ball and run the clock to win this one, and of course a few more points wouldn't hurt. Rookie HB Doug Martin is only two happy to oblige. Martin adds another TD to pull farther ahead.

DAL 17 TB 31 in the 4th

Dallas has got to make something happen and it has to happen now if they have any chance to comeback. The Cowboys manage a few good plays and they are in striking distance. QB Tony Romo drops back, sees an open WR Miles Austin and throws. Not so fast, MLB David Harris jumps up and snags it. Interception!

The Bucs feed HB Doug Martin the ball to run out the clock. HB Martin has other ideas. Martin goes around the left side, spins out of a tackle and takes it wide. He's got one man to beat, he ducks under as the FS Charlie Peprah goes high. Martin is clear and he's in! TD Bucs!

DAL 17 TB 38 Final

Statistics

TB QB Josh Freeman 8/16 for 236yds 2TDs, INT
DAL QB Tony Romo 6/18 for 153yds 2TDs, INT

TB HB Doug Martin 23 runs for 141yds 3TDs
DAL HB DeMarco Murray 10 runs for 84yds

TB WR Terrell Owens 3 catches for 140yds 2TDs
TB WR Mike Williams 2 catches for 43yds
DAL WR Miles Austin 1 catch for 30yds TD
DAL WR Cole Beasley 2 catches for 75yds TD

DAL MLB Bruce Carter 7 tackles
DAL ROLB DeMarcus Ware 7 tackles, 3 TFL, Sack
DAL FS Gerald Sensabaugh 2 tackles, INT
TB SS Devin McCourty 4 tackles, TFL, Sack
TB MLB David Harris 2 tackles, TFL, Sack, INT

Mike Hill- Got to look for that little extra on the road and #Buccaneers had it this week.

Matt Miller- Multiple scores by Doug Martin, multiple headaches for the Cowboys defense.

There was no stopping Doug Martin as his 3 TD runs led to a 38-17 win over the Cowboys

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came away with a win against the Dallas Cowboys
