Re: Buccaneers Dynasty (Madden 13 Offline CCM)

Week 11
Buccaneers (8-1) @ Panthers (4-5)

The Buccaneers will have their hands full with Panthers QB Cam Newton. Newton is following up his spectacular rookie season with an even more impressive sophomore season: 2100yds, 64% completion, 20 TDs, 3 INTs.

When asked about Newton, Bucs safety Devin McCourty had this to say, "It is awfully hard to throw TDs when your lying on the ground." Bold words from McCourty who currently leads the NFL with 12 sacks.

The Panthers start with the ball, but they only get it for three fruitless downs before they have to punt.

The Buccaneers take two plays to score. QB Josh Freeman to WR Vincent Jackson, who spins away from SS Charles Godfrey to score.

TB 7 CAR 0 in the 1st

QB Cam Newton breaks a 34yd run on 3rd and 10 to keep the Panthers going. Newton finishes the drive with a pass to HB DeAngelo Williams.

TB 7 CAR 7 in the 2nd

K Garrett Hartley returns the lead to the Buccaneers with a 32yd FG.

TB 10 CAR 7 in the 2nd

The Tampa defense comes up big with a stop, getting the ball back for the offense. QB Josh Freeman hits WR Terrell Owens for a TD to end the half.

TB 17 CAR 7 at the half

Tampa starts with the ball in the 2nd half. They turn the ball over to HB Doug Martin to eat up the clock and hopefully get them some points. He doesn't disappoint. Add another Martin TD.

TB 24 CAR 7 in the 3rd

QB Cam Newton dodges SS Devin McCourty and then shrugs off a sack by OLB Lavonte David then throws a perfect strike to WR Steve Smith, who seeing Newton in trouble started coming back to him. With CB Eric Wright in front of him, Smith fakes right toward the sideline, Wright bites and Smith turns on the afterburners and goes 49yds for the TD!

TB 24 CAR 14 in the 4th

K Garrett Hartley adds a FG to increase the Bucs lead.

TB 27 CAR 14 in the 4th

QB Newton breaks free of a sure sack by DT Albert Haynesworth and goes 15yds for a first down to keep the Panthers moving. The drive ends with a short TD run by HB DeAngelo Williams.

TB 27 CAR 21 in the 4th

The Panthers try for the onside kick, but WR Mike Williams grabs it out of the air and isn't letting go.

The Buccaneers just need to hold onto the ball to get the win. They turn to HB Doug Martin. The Panthers are expecting this and are loading the box vs. Martin. Martin can't get anything, so the Bucs turn to QB Josh Freeman. Freeman hits a wide open WR Vincent Jackson. HB Doug Martin dives into the endzone for one last score.

TB 34 CAR 21 in the 4th with 18 seconds left

Down by 13, the Panthers have to get really lucky to win this one. They clearly didn't remember their horseshoes and four leaf clovers, because the game ends with sacks by CB Eric Wright and FS Nick Collins.

TB 34 CAR 21 Final

Statistics

TB QB Josh Freeman 10/12 for 327yds, 2 TDs
CAR QB Cam Newton 9/17 for 184yds, 2 TDs

CAR WR Steve Smith 2 catches for 57yds TD
TB WR Terrell Owens 2 catches for 91yds, TD
CAR HB DeAngelo Williams 2 catches for 97yds, TD

Injuries Not Serious- TE Kellen Winslow and SS Devin McCourty both had to leave the game, but reports from Tampa say both injuries weren't serious and both players will be available next week.

Firing Off- Vincent Jackson was sharp today, as he did a great job reading the defense en route to 166 receiving yards and a win for the Buccaneers.

Ride The Wave- Josh Freeman pitched a perfect game, had a 158.3 passer rating as he led the Buccaneers over the Panthers 34-21.

Buccaneers Pleased With Road Win- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came away with a win against the Carolina Panthers this week.

Trey Wingo- In the making-things-happen category this week is Vincent Jackson.

Matt Miller- Long flight home feels way shorter after a win. Well played by the Buccaneers.

Trey Wingo- J. Freeman may have nailed a perfect QB rating, but I scored a 100 on my 4th grade spelling test #samething

LaVar Arrington- Only 10 perfect passer rating games in the '90s and 17 in the '00s, and now one here for J. Freeman.

Chris Mortensen- Perfect passer rating only happens maybe once or twice a season. Well done by J. Freeman.

Re: Buccaneers Dynasty (Madden 13 Offline CCM)

Making the Case for Doug Martin as Offensive Rookie of the Year

By Nick Kostora (Bleacher Report Featured Columnist)

The anointment of Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III as Offensive Rookie of the Year (OROY) may have to be put on hold as Doug Martin continues to race towards the honor.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back known as "The Muscle Hamster" and "The Dougernaut" has been steadily making his case all season.

There were questions raised about whether Martin was worth a first-round selection when LeGarrette Blount was already on the depth chart. However, the Buccaneers had little doubt. This was made abundantly clear when they traded Blount to the Jets. As for Martin, he has proved his worth and potential throughout the season, rushing for 1192yds and 15 TDs in 10 games.

Brad Barr-US PRESSWIRE

Martin's small, but stocky 5'9" 215-pound frame and ability to both elude and run through defenders has benefited him well as he adapts to complicated defensive schemes and blitz packages. He is seeing the field better and learning where the holes are and how to wait for his blocks to develop.

Martin is only the sixth player ever to rush for over 1,000 yards in his first 10 career games and is quickly chasing Carnell "Cadillac" Williams for the best season by a Buccaneers rookie.

The OROY award has not been given to a running back since Adrian Peterson in 2007, but is it not fair to argue that Martin has been every bit as impressive as front-runners Luck and RG3?

Both of those young signal-callers, got a lot of hype going into the season, but only one is playing at levels worthy of the award. Luck has led the Colts to an improbable 6-4 record while throwing for 2,538 yards and 25 touchdowns. While, RG3 has thrown 15 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Martin, however, is averaging over six yards per carry and has been as reliable a ground threat as even the most experienced veterans the league has to offer. It is hard to be noticed when guys like Luck and RG3 are members of the rookie class, but Martin has done just that.

He is a key reason for Tampa Bay being firmly in the NFC playoff hunt and will be of utmost importance if the Buccaneers want to have any hope of postseason success. Martin's versatility as a between-the-tackles runner and a quality receiving option means that defenses cannot treat him as a typical rusher.

Martin can handle runs to the outside of the field or become a lethal weapon on short passing routes, screen passes, etc...

"The Muscle Hamster" is getting better as the season wears on, and after he rushed for 220 yards and two touchdowns against the San Diego Chargers in Week 10, everyone took notice of his ability and potential of winning OROY.

Keep watching—Martin has only just started to showcase his talent.

Bragging Rights- It was a banner day for Josh Freeman as he lit up the Rams with a perfect 158.3 passer rating
