Summary The 49ers rebounded after their road loss a week ago by winning their home opener against the visiting Detroit Lions 24-17 in a rainy and windy Sunday night at Candlestick Park. QB Alex Smith threw two interceptions but also threw two touchdown passes in the win. 49ers defense played better against the run this week and shutdown Lions WR Calvin Johnson.
