Looking forward to this, that show was epic. Shouldn't Thad be a sophomore if Moran is a freshman?

I agree!

And I just wanted to add a slightly different back story that way I can add my own personal twist in to the overall feeling of the dynasty. Sounds like a long and drawn out answer, and it is.

3) Sophomore- Tyrone Rucker- 75 Ovr.

FS
1) Junior (RS)- Larry Summers- 88 Ovr.

Thad and Larry.jpg

Larry is a junior defensive back who has been friends with Thad Castle for years as they both went to the same high school. Larry helped Thad out of a really bad situation, when Thad was sent a letter as a freshman to date someone's daughter. He's known for following Thad's lead as his wing-man.

2) Freshman- Nick Hampton- 79 Ovr.
3) Sophomore- Tyrone Rucker- 78 Ovr.

SS
1) Sophomore- Kevin Carroll- 86 Ovr.
2) Freshman- Kyle Neises- 81 Ovr. (Is there any defensive position this dude can't play?)
3) Sophomore- Tyrone Rucker- 80 Ovr. (As you can tell, Tyrone can play CB, and both safety positions.)

Coach Massey's thoughts: "Secondary play in the defense is extremely important at every level of football. I feel confident this group of guys can get the job done. We have plenty of experience in the secondary - more than any other position on the team, so that's nice. These guys may not be All-American corners or safeties but as long as they stay healthy and play smart, we should be good to go with this bunch of hard workers."

Punter
1) Freshman- Harmon Tedesco- 89 Ovr.

Coach Massey's thoughts: "As you can tell, we'll be depending on coach Daniel's recruit Harmon Tedesco an awful lot. That's fine with me, as long as he can handle the pressure. Marty told me that the kid handled the kicking and punting duties in high school and was the best in the nation in that role. He's just slightly better in the punting category overall, but very solid at both positions. Close games are won and lost with kickers and punters. Let's hope this guy brings us more wins than losses."

For more information on freshman special teams specialist Harmon Tedesco, check out the interview that was done by local news station WECA in the next post.

Harmon Tedesco Q&A
Freshman kicker ready for pressure at Blue Mountain State

harmon.jpg
Class of 2013 signee Harmon Tedesco will find himself as BMS' starting kicker.

As is the case every season, BMS' 2013 recruiting class is loaded with some of the nation's most-coveted prospects. But don't be surprised if the kicker of that class ends up making the biggest hidden immediate impact.

GoatsNation: First things first, both of your parents are Overland University graduates. How did you end up at Blue Mountain State?

Harmon Tedesco: "When I was looking for a school, obviously football is now a big part of my life. But as I was looking at the schools that were recruiting me I was looking at which schools actually needed me rather than chasing schools that didn't need a kicker. BMS was just at the top of the list. I liked everything about it. Everything worked out well. It's also a plus that there are some fine ladies and crazy parties here."

GN: You sat with them at Overland and watched James Bucker of BMS nail the game-winner. What was that moment like for you, and how much did you envision being that guy someday?

HT: "It was definitely a moment of realization knowing that was one of James' last times to kick. I knew that I was coming up and have the potential to start and be ready for it. It made me think that it would definitely be me someday. I just need to make sure that I am focused the whole time and give myself the opportunity to be in his place."

GN: The Mountain Goats signed one of the nation's best classes we've ever seen in the history of the NCAA again in 2013, but of all of the players signed, you could have the biggest secret immediate impact. Are you ready for that pressure?

HT: "Yeah. Being a kicker you always have to be ready to handle pressure. I know what I am getting myself into and I know I can handle it well. It shouldn't be too much stress."

GN: What have you been doing to stay in shape and keep your leg fresh for the fall? And has this offseason varied any because you are preparing for Blue Mountain State and not Raymond High School?

HT: "Other than obviously switching to ground rather than a tee there wasn't much of a difference. I have been lifting heavily trying to get body mass because that is important going into college. Other than those two things my approach hasn't been much different. Leading up to the day that I get there I will begin to kick more."

GN: How often do you kick?

HT: "Right now I am kicking two or three times a week. As it gets closer I will step it up more. It just depends on where I feel like I'm at. As of now I feel pretty good about it."

GN: BMS kickers have established a very good track record over the Marty Daniels era, making some of the most clutch kicks in program history. Are you confident that you can keep that track record intact?

HT: "Definitely. It's in my job description. I have to go out there and make sure I am not worried about the crowd or the other team blocking it. I just have to go out and act like it's just a kick I would do in practice. Pressure shouldn't really get to me. I can handle it."

GN: What do you think will be going through your mind the first time you line up for a field goal at BMS in front of 100,000 fans? How do you focus on the task at hand?

HT: "I've played in a couple of different games that were more than a normal high school game. The U.S. Army game was a good starter because there were a lot more people there than I had ever seen. I should be able to have that to be able to know what it's going to feel like. If I just keep my head on and not let the amount of people there stress me out then I should be fine."

The NEW C-USA

Team Bio: Arizona Tech Warriors

2013-07-07_11.54.04.jpg
Junior Wide-out Brian McCloud (86 overall) is going to be the #1 target for Arizona Tech this season

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Enrollment: ~8500
University Founding: 1975
Football Program Founding: 1979
All Time Record: 243-185-9
Luno Star Conference Champion: 83, 84, 92, 2000, 06
FCS Quarterfinals: 84
FCS Semi Final: 84
Offense: Pro
Defense: 4-3

Arizona Technical University offers 134 fields of study leading to bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and professional degrees. Academic departments and programs are organized into colleges and schools. In 2012, U.S. News & World Report ranked Arizona Tech as the 120th best national university in the United States. The Center for World University Rankings in 2013 ranked Arizona Tech 88th in the world and 69th in the US.

Arizona Tech is well known for its passing offense, especially with its always tough wide receiving core and it all starts with Jr. WR Brian McCloud. Since he broke on to the scene as a freshman he's been a stud in the FCS and will be watched closely by teams in the NEW C-USA. While Arizona Tech is expected to be the definition of average this season, they are certainly a team to watch, because these are warriors, and warriors fight to the death.
