Game Notes
The first big matchup of the Big10 season takes place in Ames, Iowa this week as the #18 Ranked, 3-0 Maryland Terrapins travel to the 3-0, #21 Ranked Iowa Hawkeyes in what should amount to a defensive battle. Maryland has the #2 ranked rushing offense in the nation, averaging 230 yards per game on the ground, but Iowa only allows 132 yards per game rushing. Something will have to give. CJ Brown and Stefon Diggs are both in the lineup after being knocked out of the game against West Virginia, which is huge for Maryland.
For Iowa, the injury to Cody Sokol is huge. Sokol's replacement, Jake Ruddock has played well, 20 of 50 for 458 yards with 6 scores, and has yet to turn the ball over. Iowa is a 1.5 point favorite, so not even Vegas has an idea of who should win this tight contest.

With Brown and Ross Out, Hills Leads Late Comeback
Throws touchdown with under a minute left to save win
It looked like Maryland would once against cruise to an impressive victory, as they led 31-14 heading to the fourth quarter. Then CJ Brown went down. Then Brandon Ross went out. Then Iowa scored. Then Maryland fumbled the kickoff.
Next thing you knew, before the offense had a chance to get back on the field it went from a 17 point game, to a tenuous 3 point lead. Perry Hills would go three and out, and Iowa would storm down the field and find the back of the end zone once more, completing their massive comeback, just two minutes to soon.
Perry Hills would not have any of it. "Perry played great. He has come in to the game three times this year, and has showed his true skill each time." said coach Brian Abernathy.
Hills quickly and efficiently moved the ball down the field, finally finding Stefon Diggs for a 7 yard touchdown with just 41 seconds to go in the game. The defense then did enough to keep Iowa outside of field goal range until the end, sealing the victory and giving the Terrapins a 4-0 start.
Next week they'll meet with former ACC rival Florida State, at home.

Game Notes
Florida State has lost two straight, on the road, against top 10 ranked opponents, so it's hard to judge them by their 2-2 record coming into this game on the road against #16 Maryland. Maryland comes off a come-from-behind victory at Iowa a week ago, and looks to keep their hot season going. If CJ Brown, Brandon Ross, and Stefon Diggs can stay on the field they could cause lots of issues for the Seminole defense. In an interesting side story, Brian Abernathy was turned down in his bid to become offensive coordinator at Florida State two years ago, instead landing with Texas State.

Seminoles Chop Terrapins, End Losing Streak
Stefon Diggs sets record in loss
Florida State may have come in 2-2, but they were anything close to a .500 team, after barely losing the previous two weeks on the road at #6 Virginia Tech in overtime, and #7 Louisville in regulation, and they showed that, knocking Maryland from the ranks of the unbeaten 43-40.
Despite Stefon Diggs huge game, setting a Maryland school record with 4 touchdown receptions, and CJ Brown throwing for over 400 yards, the Terrapins were unable to pull through to beat the Seminoles.
Not that they didn't have a chance. While trailing 36-33, Maryland was driving for a chance to at least tie the game up, but CJ Brown was hit at the 19 and fumbled. Four plays later James Wilder broke free for a 56 yard touchdown, icing the game for Florida State.
Maryland would score once more, but were unable to recover the onsides kick, and FSU held on to take the win.
"It was a tough game, but we fought hard. We just came up short." said Randy Edsall.
It gets no easier next week, as Maryland takes to the road for a visit to Camp Randall Stadium to take on the Wisconsin Badgers.

Game Notes
Wisconsin has been a Jekyll and Hyde this season, 3-0 at home, and 0-2 on the road. Luckily for them #22 Maryland comes to Camp Randall this week. Maryland has not lost on the road this year either, so something will have to give. Can Maryland rebound after their first loss of the season to Florida State at home last week? CJ Brown will have to be better. His three turnovers cost Maryland the game. If we see the CJ of the first 4 wins, Maryland should be able to roll.
