I knew the L's were coming. My O-line sucks and my D has over achieved the first 7 games. They are now playing like they should. I just hope I don't get fired because I can't score every drive.

That LSU game marks the 3rd time I have beat them during the regular season with lesser teams. They did get me in a bowl game in another dynasty I had.

The UAB Blazers enter “Senior Day” on the heals of a 3 game losing streak that included a blowout to the ECU Pirates. The Rice Owls entered the game with a 3-7 record and a 1-5 C-USA record so this game is an opportunity to play the role of spoiler. Eleven seniors started the game including backup QB Jonathan Perry who led the Blazers on a opening game scoring drive. The Blazers were able to jump out to a 31-13 lead by halftime on the back of a running game that has been in hibernation all season. The second half was much of the same from the defense as we have seen during the recent 3 game slide. In the end the Blazers were able to just enough to ensure victory and end the streak. Luck thing because DC Reggie Johnson may not have gotten out of the stadium alive had the defense collapsed once again. After the game Tony McDaniel said that Junior(RS) RG Hix and Senior(RS) RT Ike would replace RG O’Leary and RT Carter for the remainder of the season.

The last game of the regular season was a home game for the UAB Blazers and they needed the win in a bad way. Both teams entered today with winning on their minds as the Eagles of Southern Miss needed to earn a bowl spot while the Blazers wanted a chance at the C-USA title. Both teams were not very impressive in the first half in the pouring rain. The half time speeches must have been just enough to motivate the Blazers to walk away with a 5 point win. QB Austin Brown was just terrible in the first half but looked like his old self in the second giving his Blazers a chance at the C-USA title but they needed help which they did not receive as the ECU Pirates take the C-USA East division. It does look like a bowl game is in the cards for the Blazers who will have to wait until the Bowl Selection Show to see where they may spend their holidays.

The UAB Blazers cap off an amazing 2013-2014 season with an impressive victory in the Beef O’Brady’s Bowl over San Jose State. This game featured the number 3 (D. Fales) and 4 (A. Brown) ranked passes in the nation based on passing yards. Sophomore(RS) QB Austin Brown went down in the first half with a leg injury but not before he found the end zone twice. Blazer fans had to feel like at that point the game might be lost but Senior(RS) QB Jonathan Perry stepped right in, what a way to end his career as a Blazer. The same can be said about Senior(RS) tailback Greg Franklin who had a season high 121yds and ran one in. The Blazers young D played a perfect game recording 3 picks and 2 sacks but holding San Jose State to just 14 points. Great way to finish the season, a win in a bowl game that will set up the off season for the Blazers in which they hope to continue to improve.
