Tennessee Survives Jacksonville Comeback

Down 21-14 halfway through the third quarter, Tennessee reeled off an astounding twenty-eight unanswered points and the Titans had a 42-21 lead with 5:52 remaining in the game. Jacksonville fought back scoring on two consecutive drives, which included a recovered onside kick as they made it a one score game with 1:55 left. However, they would not see the ball again as the Titans would run out the clock and improve to 2-1 on the season.\

For Jacksonville, rookie running back Michael Henderson was a workhorse for the Jaguars with 82 yards on the ground and three scores in the loss.

Rookie Brooks Out Two Weeks

Rookie tight end Skylar Brooks for the Tennessee Titans aggravated an injury in warm ups and did not play against the Jaguars. It was determined Brooks had a groin injury and could miss up to two more weeks of action.

Also, starting defensive end Ezayi Sigh broke his thumb in the win against Jacksonville, his status is unknown for next week.

Titans Win in Overtime, Texans Remain Winless

Chris Johnson reversed field, broke a tackle and bounced down the sideline for the game winning 27-yard touchdown run in overtime as the Titans kept the Houston Texans winless at 0-4 on the season. Johnson finished the game with 142 yards on the ground with two scores while Jake Locker contributed four more scores through the air.

Both teams were off to hot offensive starts, combining for sixty-three points in the first half alone. Houston battled back in the fourth quarter, down by two touchdowns with former Titans backup Ryan Fitzpatrick leading the team as starting quarterback Gianni Martinez left in the third quarter with a shoulder injury. Fitzpatrick would throw two scores, including one with just seconds left in the game, tying it at 42-42 and forcing overtime.

However, in overtime, the Texans, who won the toss, were unable to move the ball had to punt it away. Locker and Johnson cruised down the field with ease and Johnson's 27-yard run sealed the game for the now 3-1 Titans. Tennessee now has a bye in week five.

Relationship Between Britt and Titans Appearing Tense

Kenny Britt, the Titans former first round selection from Rutgers is apparently unhappy with the Titans organization. Britt, 27, lost his starting role to Kendall Wright and has seen very little passes come his way through four games. Currently he sits at third on the team with eleven receptions for 176 yards and no scores. Sources within the Tennessee organization declined to comment regarding Britt's situation with the team, but did say he's expected to remain the number two starter in two weeks against the New England Patriots.

Big Plays and Tough Defense Stuns Patriots

Kendall Wright had a 72-yard touchdown catch. Chris Johnson had a 78-yard touchdown run. Brandon Banks had an 87-yard kick return setting the Titans up in the red zone. Justin Hunter had a 43-yard touchdown catch as time expired in the first half. Combine that with eleven sacks from the defense [six of which came from Osi Umenyiora] and you get a team that shocked a 3-1 New England Patriots team. Tom Brady played as well as he could, finishing with 365 yards through the air. However, it was the Patriots red zone struggles that really hurt them. Two times in the first half New England had the ball on the one-yard line with a first and goal. Both times they settled for field goals.

Kendall Wright, Jake Locker's favorite target so far this year, left the game in the third quarter with a chest injury. He did not return, but was not expected to miss any other time. Kenny Britt, who started news stories a week ago saying he was unhappy with his role with the team, was targeted twice, with one thirteen yard reception that resulted in a touchdown.

Locker's Five Touchdowns Helps Titans Rout Dolphins

Jake Locker had three scores through the air and another two on the ground in the first half as the Titans routed the 2-3 Miami Dolphins, 41-6 to improve to 5-1 on the season. Locker finished the game with 295 yards through the air on 22-of-26 passing.

Locker's favorite target once again was Kendall Wright. Through six games, Wright's on fire with 984 yards on 49 receptions. At his current pace, Wright's expected to exceed 130 receptions for 2500 yards.

Jake Locker found Kendall Wright in the end zone for an eleven yard strike with 1:54 remaining in the game to officially seal the game for the Tennessee Titans in a game that had three lead changes in the final quarter. Locker finished the game with five touchdowns [his second five touchdown contest in as many tries] and 365 yards in the Titans sixth win of the season.

Kendall Wright continued his impressive season with ten more receptions for 223 yards and two scores.
