Army Rebounds as Defense Slams Door on Eagles
Total Dominance as Army snaps losing skid.
Army had a rough go of it while losing three straight games, but coach Jay Mathews knew his team was better than the way they had been performing. They proved him right, putting on their best performance to date, slamming Boston College, and only allowing 120 of offense, and more impressively, only 12 yards of offense after the first quarter.
Boston College came out firing, as Chase Retting capped off a score on their first drive with a 10 yard run. Retting was 6 of 6 for 65 yards, and it looked as if Boston College was off and running.
Especially with the numbers early in the second quarter. Boston College had 108 yards of offense to just 22 for Army, and were driving for another score, when Chris Carnegie stepped in front of a Retting pass, returning it 57 yards to the BC 30 yard line.
From that point on Army gained 252 yards of offense to just 12 for Boston College. Raymond Maples pounded the ball in from a yard out to tie the game, and after a punt Patrick Laird hauled in a AJ Schurr pass from 7 yards out to take their first lead in nearly a month.
Army would not look back, with rushing touchdowns from Maples and Schurr in the second half, icing the game, and pushing the record back to .500, and greatly increasing the odds of an Army bowl appearance.

Joining Marquise Lambert are two receivers, 6'5 220 pound Darren Swift who will add a lot to the Army passing game. Whoever the quarterback is next year will have a huge target to throw to. Also committing was 5'11 possession receiver Josh Perry. Perry has great hands and could make a great slot option.
